To be fair, royal guard is definitely a late game unit so you are going to be using chill for most of progression and you’ll have plenty of time to boost it before unlocking royal guard
@@narrihson8747 im end game and my highest rare +level (out of any gacha rare) is 27. assuming that my chill cat was 50+27 it would have around the same dps and hp as a level 41 royal royal guard cat (but thats best case scenario and mine is actually only +11). to match a lvl 50 royal guard you would either need a 50+73 chill cat or 50+40 stat talented chill cat. nobody has those levels unless theyve played for a very long time (my account is from 2020 for reference)
Unfortunately, I already had all of UL 4* done (aside from the recently released levels) when this true form came out. I think there could be a lot of use during those stages if people haven't already Esoteric'ed the whole thing. Dr. Nova though? This TF and Idi's are basically made for that level no matter what other units you might have prepared.
Royal Guard was my first ever Anti-Relic that wasn't purely based on CC, solely because I somehow got through Papuu by sheer dumb luck (and KFC), he helped me a lot in finishing SOL and has been helping me in UL (so long as M.Ost isn't screwing him over)
I have been of the opinion that RG is good since it got True Form. The most important improvement are 3 prong in HP increase, range increase and Speed increase. See, this has increased his survivability tremendously. Now he can stick to his targets quite easily. It doesn't hurt that most Relics are primary Curse debuffers with low damage. These are Slime-esqe improvements that would have been enough to make him good on it's own but no, they increased his dps by 75% as well. That completely removed the need to stack him now. His DPS matches that of Ururan + Urs together. So just having one little guy on an enemy is extreme dps for a while. He has almost become a Can Can like unit that just gives you a a lot of value by just existing on the field with a very cost effective price. He has too much survivability, speed and damage to stick to his targets and chip them down heavy on his own.
I feel everyone is using him now, most 4* lineups I see are using him (me included) The reason why he seemed to have had such an upsurge is probably because people looked at him and thought that because non of his issues were fixed, he’s still bad. But in practice, that’s definitely not the case, he insane at his niche and is very versatile when fighting against his traits. He’s a specialist sure, but a damn good one.
If I can speak from my personal perspective, I was one that initially thought he was garbage and a bad tf. My take has shifted from that idea since then, but before watching this vid, I still thought he was just "decent" and not much else. After watching this, I think I understand why I'm not overly enthusiastic about RG overall, but I do want to state that a lot of the points you brought up are things I've come to realize as of late. RG is a relatively unique unit, at least in comparison to others, given it's able to compliment well with other anti relics thanks to his burst-dps/rusher style, without having much of an overlapping issue, a factor that extends to his anti alien and even wave immune niche. Being able to deal with sir rels effectively is a big plus, while still having enough speed to not become a liability against higher range threats, and being incredibly spammable provides excellent value for disposability, namely in a stage like IT 45. And yet, I rarely think of using him when I'm playing regularly, despite realizing there's plenty of good qualities to his name, some that I even appreciate from the likes of manju and can can, units I bring to plenty of lineups, if not most. So in short terms, it's probably all about my playstyle: While RG is able to compliment other anti relics, we're also gotten to the point where most of those anti relics have become extremely powerful, with the likes of UL legends, superfeline, certain ubers like saki or gigapult, and specially uril tf. So when making a lineup, instead of thinking about trying RG out, I mostly default to the already established anti relics that I'm more familiar with, and try to build a lineup around those with the typical meatshields or supports. As for aliens, it's true that RG and chill operate way differently, and the latter isn't one I bring often against aliens. However, the only reason I use chill to begin with is to deal with those specific "midrange melee" enemies that RG happens to struggle against, and because I got other options for the higher ranged threats, rushing with RG was something I never considered before. That being said, while ubers and unit roles can be enough of a reason to dislike certain units, like how many players don't like cyberstacking in the first place, it's not exactly my biggest reasoning for not using RG, and I want to elaborate for a bit: When it comes to melee units, 2 of the more popular ones around the community are can can and balrog, which are also plenty comparable between each other. Both are high dph melee units with a bit of a foreswing to compensate, also having cheap cost and low cooldown for their rarities, and specially for their insane stats, given their great bulk and aforementioned damage output. These traits allow them to be highly versalite throughout most of the game, with plenty of relevant use cases across multiple stages and bosses, and I happen to have both so it's natural that I'd get a lot of mileage out of them, which I already mentioned for can can before. But to be completely honest here: I don't actually like using balrog. It's probably strange to say that when I think both units are quite similar, but personally, there's one key difference that makes me default to can can over rog, which is their speed. The former has 21 speed, while the latter has 12, so balrog speed is fine enough as is, given he's not slow by any means, but he's also not fast enough to my liking, and that's where his other stats become worse as a result. His bulk doesn't feel enough, his cost feels too high for his own good, and his damage isn't impressive enough anymore for me to not consider can can instead. As weird as it sounds, balrog is a unit that doesn't feel comfortable to use for me, to the point where I unironically think he would've been better with a speed up talent instead of the strengthen. Leading back into RG, I have similar feelings: -He's a fast unit, he doesn't feel fast enough. -He's generally bulky for his cooldown, but doesn't feel bulky enough. -His dps is quite high, but not high enough for me to consider him over can can instead. RG and can can operate much differently in this case, and I'm not trying to prove otherwise, as the only thing I'm trying to say is that RG enters that category of units that don't feel comfortable to use in their role, be it by lack of speed, bulk, or range in comparison to the other options I've accumulated over my playthrough. It also doesn't help that I haven't even done starred UL, with places where RG could still shine even over certain ubers, which might be the main reason I find it hard to actually think of the unit in the first place. Like I said at the beginning, this is all just my personal perspective. I'm still willing to give RG a shot when the time is right, as the potential is certainly there for experimentation, and maybe he'll change my personal feelings in the end, or not, because I can't predict the future. So with all that being said, great vid dude, looking foward for more. And I hope miasma gets the same treatment in its tf because I want a better winged piggie counter.
While this could be just a wild theory, I think Ponos decided that they wanted to make an easily obtainable counter to Nova, so they took an already anti relic unit and gave it several buffs via true form. The same could be similarly said for Idi’s true form where she obtained Sage slayer; however, Idi was already a great unit to begin with while Vodka cat was just forgotten.
I am going through 3* UL and I am definitely inclined to agree! The damage and stackability (especially with research combo) can be so absurd to kill tanky units much quicker! Love using this unit
I'm very much surprised people think royal guard isnt broken, spammable 32k/25k dps with really good health (big highlight on the health, something that spammable and with that damage shouldn't be that beefy) and wave immune as a nice quality of life works wonders, most of the time i use him if there is an alien or relic enemy bc he is amazing for both backliners and melee enemies. Royal Guard is just the cat version of Sir Rel
Royal Guard is just so fun to use apart of being very strong, and i actually use this unit in almost every relic/alien stage and still somehow work. Also, I believe the creation of Royal Guard cat was for preperation of Dr. Nova stage, since it has a property to reliably slip past her blindspot and deal ridiclous damage to it. With XSkull tier, i can confidently say he is B-tier
Doing all of 4 star in one month preparing for Dr. Nova made me realize our current 4 star powercreep is insane! The lv50 free units were constantly butting heads against my lv100+ gacha rares for loadout slots… and won around 60% of the time. I even had to ban legend, Uril and slime TFs to make the loadouts less monotonous!
Atm im going through hell (4 star all UL) and I popped him onto Outta This Village, and honestly I found him pushing into the Nyandam's range so often vs not using him but at the same time he's also just that powerful on his own in that stage. I'm gonna be so happy to find use for this fella in 4 star.
I heard a little while ago that he was kinda under rated so I started using him in my 4* Sol and he was carrying all these stages that I never thought he'd be good on. After that he became one of my more favorite units to bring
When I first got him I was really excited to use him. Then I stopped using him because I saw many people saying he's not a good unit. But I always had the feeling that he's actually decent for his niche. I'm happy to see he's not useless, because I LOVE his design.
The whole chill sectiin was great cause when i was first getting inot battle cats he was still treated as some amazing priority warranting rare like camera or ramen. Then i used him, and he SUCKED. So it's nice seeing someone else say he's bad.
LOL that is the funny part when I was editing the audio in, I was like 'wait why is this audio somehow kinda better' and now i'm confused on how to set my audio

imo, the most underrated thing about rg is his target trait combination. Alien and relic is a really common pairing, especially in mid-late UL and most of those stages contain a relic pusher and alien backliner or vice versa and he absolutely cleans 90% of those stages on his own
Honestly I agree with this video, but thinking about it, it makes a really scary (or fun) thought rise: What's next for relics? What sort of counter will Ponos introduce to counter the current Relic powercreep?
this guy is a game changer in 4 crown UL merciless advent true forms (slime, fried chicken, and this one) are the only reason some of the stages have been doable for me up to this point
I've always liked this unit vodka cat for the memes, the fact that they made him good in true form was great and i have been using him quite a bit! The power of the British empire was truly enough to make this unit good 🔥
i viewed it as a faster but more expensive version of ramen, both short range rapid attacking units with very high dps though ramen has better survivability and can be spammed more easily, get them to bash away on some tanky enemy though and watch that health melt
I remember when i did 4 star chapel transfer and use this guy with violated chivalry and he proceeded to beat literally everyones ass I love him so much as mesocosmocyclone counter since that enemy was born from human suffering

@ 50+27 is already outperforming royal guard vs aliens, the range advantage of chill is one major difference that Lucas iv ignored
@@narrihson8747, 50 + 27 is still less DPS than a level 50 royal guard. Chill cat also needs investment into its attack up talent to catch up.
I feel everyone is using him now, most 4* lineups I see are using him (me included)
The reason why he seemed to have had such an upsurge is probably because people looked at him and thought that because non of his issues were fixed, he’s still bad. But in practice, that’s definitely not the case, he insane at his niche and is very versatile when fighting against his traits. He’s a specialist sure, but a damn good one.
2:51 wait is that a reference to that one meme video you made about royal guard
Cheeki Breeki has become stronger than ever
Ah yes the Maus Maus cannot be stopped
So in short terms, it's probably all about my playstyle:
While RG is able to compliment other anti relics, we're also gotten to the point where most of those anti relics have become extremely powerful, with the likes of UL legends, superfeline, certain ubers like saki or gigapult, and specially uril tf.
That being said, while ubers and unit roles can be enough of a reason to dislike certain units, like how many players don't like cyberstacking in the first place, it's not exactly my biggest reasoning for not using RG, and I want to elaborate for a bit:
When it comes to melee units, 2 of the more popular ones around the community are can can and balrog, which are also plenty comparable between each other.
Leading back into RG, I have similar feelings:
-He's a fast unit, he doesn't feel fast enough.
Happy you're getting to do more of these videos, I enjoy them so much!
I honestly never knew that this unit wasn't commonly known to be OP, it was always a major talking point during my time in E280
I mean maybe but if all they want is nova counter then they really didnt need the anti alien and wave immune extra LOL
I think he talked about the broken unit nobody uses in The Battle Cats guys!
oh
I love how in the notes for Cossack cat, it says that it has nothing to do with pirates, which is in the meme song
You should just say that The roal guard cat counters Sir Rel by preventing it from attacking.
Sir Rel is only dangerous because of Sirs insane DPS
I am going through 3* UL and I am definitely inclined to agree! The damage and stackability (especially with research combo) can be so absurd to kill tanky units much quicker! Love using this unit
THE ROYAL GUARD GLAZING IS REAL RAAAAGGGHHH! WTF IS A CHILL CAT?!?!
🧱
I'm very much surprised people think royal guard isnt broken, spammable 32k/25k dps with really good health (big highlight on the health, something that spammable and with that damage shouldn't be that beefy) and wave immune as a nice quality of life works wonders, most of the time i use him if there is an alien or relic enemy bc he is amazing for both backliners and melee enemies. Royal Guard is just the cat version of Sir Rel
3:43 don’t you dare give them ideas
I actually do prefer to use RG then chill because i swear ive never seen chill hit enemies due to its foreswing
I agree! Slapsticks fell off. I'm a proud RG user now
Doing all of 4 star in one month preparing for Dr. Nova made me realize our current 4 star powercreep is insane! The lv50 free units were constantly butting heads against my lv100+ gacha rares for loadout slots… and won around 60% of the time. I even had to ban legend, Uril and slime TFs to make the loadouts less monotonous!
Royal guard pulling up to the game with the triple research:
Atm im going through hell (4 star all UL) and I popped him onto Outta This Village, and honestly I found him pushing into the Nyandam's range so often vs not using him but at the same time he's also just that powerful on his own in that stage. I'm gonna be so happy to find use for this fella in 4 star.
KFC, Brits are coming and "That's a weird jelly"
POV: you are an indigenous child about to get turned into minced meat
21:00
I actually like these audio settings.
LOL that is the funny part when I was editing the audio in, I was like 'wait why is this audio somehow kinda better' and now i'm confused on how to set my audio
@LucasIVYT, oh, I see. I hope that these settings will stay like this.
Day 1 of finding every png of a hololive member in a Lucus IV video:
9:25 Ina 1
14:33 (Frog Costume) Kiara - Low Sanity
17:14 - Ina 1
22:03 Ina 1
22:07 smol O_O Fauna
23:04 Fauna 2
For stats that is:
Ina - 3
Kiara - 1
Fauna - 2
-Myth- 4
-Council/Promise- 2
Total: 6
If I've missed any please do tell and I'll correct the count.
new lucas drop finally 🙏
I genuinely couldn't beat floor 49 of infernal tower without the goat. Wave Immune and having enough health to survive a hit from yulalala (at level 39+) clutch so hard for me.
Hey Lucas, I really wanted to ask you a question. I’ve asked other bc TH-camrs this question, like Xskull. It’s for a very stubborn friend who doesn’t want to but Skeleton cat and Mr. Are you able to provide an explanation and reason why he should buy Skeleton and Mr? Thank you Lucas 🎉. (He doesn’t want to watch the video)
If he has a good uber research combo he doesn't necessarily need to, otherwise just tell him its really good for ramen or something
Lol
ROYAL GUARD LOOKS SO COOL AND I THOUGHT HE SUCKED but hes AWESOME! TYSM TYSM
nice vid
video idea: rarest unit in battle cats (either across all versions or only BCEN). pretty fun rabbit hole to go down
the july 4th one gives you a British solider 😭 73.5k sub
Thanks, Lucas. I've been using him but never knew he would be more powerful with combos.
He's cracked with Bad Guys lol
I knew RG had potential the moment I realised his stats were basically "reckless M. Island"
have a good day
It’s ironic you need to beat march to death to have a unit with a march of death
I should definitely consider using him for 4 star UL.
Royal guard has been an absolute beast in 3* UL, when the guards are on the march, all relics and aliens are actually demolished.
imo, the most underrated thing about rg is his target trait combination. Alien and relic is a really common pairing, especially in mid-late UL and most of those stages contain a relic pusher and alien backliner or vice versa and he absolutely cleans 90% of those stages on his own
I’m an RG denier because he switched from Russian to British, and as we all know nobody likes the British, not even the British
The cat army’s starting to reflect the British Empire 🔥
The problem is you need to beat angel daboo to get this unit yeah.......
Eh just get idi and the stage doesn’t seem that hard. Also true form of delivery cat
Cafeteria cat……….
Lvl 50 Royal Guard has very close stats to Lvl 70 E.Duelist. I'm saying this because I love Duelist but doubted RG at first.
Royal Guard obliterates anything in his path with Bad Guys combo. He's my main melee unit in 4* sol.
18:31 the moving corpses 💀
10:10 what a legendary sentence. at first I thought you were just making up random words
Jelly dumpling cat and bullet train cat: LETS MAKE THE MITGY CATCOMBO
we need more people to push the anti-chillcat agenda
I had no idea he would work on on infernal tower floor 40 at all that's so cool.
Honestly I agree with this video, but thinking about it, it makes a really scary (or fun) thought rise: What's next for relics? What sort of counter will Ponos introduce to counter the current Relic powercreep?
Nobody's using it: meanwhile royal guard being the only reason of why im finishing 4*UL
hi
@justanotherweirdchannel8785 no way
this guy is a game changer in 4 crown UL merciless advent true forms (slime, fried chicken, and this one) are the only reason some of the stages have been doable for me up to this point
royal guard with bslayer would be to drool for
The moment I saw him deal with the pufferfish on his own I knew I had to get him
I didnt even know his base stats were so high, he's forever in my lineup now
Finally running down 3* UL after years of neglect and royal guard very quickly became a favorite. That’s my GOAT on screen……….
I've always liked this unit vodka cat for the memes, the fact that they made him good in true form was great and i have been using him quite a bit! The power of the British empire was truly enough to make this unit good 🔥
Gadzooks! This tower is too infernal to me! If only there was a way for me to trivialize Masked Grandmaster Cat!
The trusty Royal Gaurd:
The British museum described in a single quote:
“DUDE THEY STOLE OUR PRICELESS ARTIFACT”
i viewed it as a faster but more expensive version of ramen, both short range rapid attacking units with very high dps though ramen has better survivability and can be spammed more easily, get them to bash away on some tanky enemy though and watch that health melt
I remember when i did 4 star chapel transfer and use this guy with violated chivalry and he proceeded to beat literally everyones ass
I love him so much as mesocosmocyclone counter since that enemy was born from human suffering
Also as an irish person it deeply saddens me to see that royal guard is a filthy british cur(im joking or am i....)
it doesn't mean anything, but i still find it funny that this little fella has more effective dps than bazibastra
This is the long form content I can enjoy for a meal instead of "X station is Y"
i feel like you should have compared him to manic lion if they are both rushers and this is probably the only thing missing from a video thats supposed to be this detailed about a unit
As a rusher, Royal Guard is much better since he has actual damage output compare to Manic Lion weak ah 2.7k DPS.
16:59 uhh wave resist kai next question
