Even if research became %-based, that would open up new strategies for stacking higher cooldown units. Even for small units, a 3 s cd would become 2.4 s cd, not as broken but still very helpful
Man, i don't even play this game. Suddenly YT recommended videos about this game and now I'm kinda bingewatching any videos got recommended, including this one.
the crazy thing is the units that are present in minisaurus…a meatshield of which is 2s cooldown normally but being present in a research combo means if you use it, its just a cheaper mohawk, and then the best critical hitter in the game, which especially if you have cost down on him, you can just spam tf out of him
Nice video. Can you imagine if research combos were percentage based? I wonder what % the Sm combo would have to be to be useful? Maybe 15 to 20%. The M might be 25 to 30%, The L should be 35 to 40%. Seems pretty hard to really balance, though. Anyway though, as you said, the fact that it's a flat increase shines some very needed light towards the low-cooldown units, especially meatshields.
Yeah rock really pushed research combo over the edge. I think all in all research combos themselves are really powerful especially when combined with specialized MS but are only as game breaking as the units themselves allow them to be because the units that benefit the most from research combos are almost always spammable units that were considered great units anyway. Its baffling a unit like rock cat was allowed to exist in a world where Ponos should have known just how powerful research combos are (and i figure they know due the limited distribution of this kind of combo), it having a base 4.8 CD already makes it quite powerful to bring in a generalist line up since the ability to guarantee stall (unless your name is starred UL) is just THAT powerful, let alone the other applications Stone cat has like chip, attack baiting, rusher etc. If rock came out with smnt like 8 sec CD it would still be regarded as one of the best units since its niche is not replicable by almost any unit. A unit like Doron who shares this backswing stalling presistance is considered a huge deal for the unit and i often find myself bringing doron just for that alone and this isa minute long CD unit!. At the very least rock cat is a really versatile and fun unit to play with even if its as overpowered as it is and i think this is one of the reasons people don't complain much about research rock in the first place as opposed to smnt like Courier which has the stigma of Behemoth's and being too accesible where it breaks stages when gotten in the early/mid game. Edit: Also i have to add that while it seems like a waste, adding beyond research L for research rock is actually still a benefit. Most notably this allows it to much more consistantly stall socrates and hypothetically would allow a no gacha clear without cheese if No gacha players had access to research L + S which is insane to think about.

Do it but for all combo categories :3
