If one lives in a country where bikes are much stolen, even more the GSs, it will be recognizable very easily as a 2021 model: not safe! Therefore, would choose the triple black version.
I had an R100 GS 'bumble bee' paint job. A larger, heavier bike than my previous R80GS. Always loved that meaty low/mid range power. A really nice bike to ride on long distance trips.
I bought the 2021 R1250GS Triple Black a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. Cannot find anything at all to complain about. Of course it, and every accessory is expensive but you get what you pay for.
It’s a beauty! Option 719 called the Highway package for 22 will include: electric windscreen, backlit handlebar switches for night riding and a real horn. Why not, it’s a premium brand, BMW. It’s also, for the most part, ridden in the super slab. Then I woke up from the dream.

Especially for something I will never use to for what it's designed for. Sorry, but there you go. But for those who do have it, you got the best.
I have exactly this bike and it’s pretty dam good, somehow the suspension levelling and shiftcam control versus last year‘s model to seems to be even better. Daytime led and new indicators look good but people still pullout in front of you in traffic .
I love that color, I did ride the tripple black color last week and Mutisttada 4s yesterday. Engine heat is still present on Mutistrada since outside temperature was 25c. So if I upgrade my 2019 yellow Vstrom XT I would pic the 1250 GS.
Hello from the USA! I didn't really like the color on the 1250 bikes, so I got a Triple Black. But my wife did get the 40th anniversary paint scheme on her new 750 GS and I it has grown on me. Keep up the great videos, really enjoy them!
True. Its something I definitely wonder about oft. That doesn't it make perfect sense and acceptance of the laws of physics; to have a reverse gear in these heavy bikes. Its a macho thing. But the fact is that whilst off roading most times I/most of us end up having our riding mates pull our bikes back outta situations. A reverse would have helped or sufficed wherein!
Apart from distance advantage (as if there is no gas station before 500 km in the world), why people choose heavier and bulky GSA and pay more, while being lighter GS within same power...
Well Dave this and your review video sealed the deal for me. I collect mine on Saturday. 40th Edition GSA BumbleBee colour scheme. Still trying to figure out a name for it. My other two bikes got their names after taking them home.....

This is the only BMW model I would have. The Loncin engine range leave me stone cold. Boxer, Tele-lever & shaft are all essential IMO. I'm currently on an Africa Twin and don't know if this should be my next bike or stay with my Honda. BMW dealership in UK is a bit more corporate and less than two blokes faffing around in a shed. Thanks Dave!
Telelever and shaft drive are heavy and unnecessary. BMW could save at least 25 pounds (likely more) with a chain drive and standard forks and would loose none of the performance.
Hey! Just a few comments; 1) Eco mode, I use it for commuting. It is relaxing and it saves 8% (gas and emissions, think about it 🤔). 2) I got the triple black, but if I had decided for the 40 years I would change the handguards to black. Nice rides 🖖🏻🇵🇹

Lights and stickers instead of providing crash bars and hand guards that provide real protection, and they didn't reduce the weight at all. Come on BMW, step it up.
Standard response to 💩 talk about the GS -- Do you own one? Have you ridden one properly? Do you know that in city traffic if the handle bars fit through a gap the dike does too? Nice bike, I prefer it in triple black. 😁 definitly you should update, shiftcam and quickshifter. 40 year anniversary is a taste-thing. I don't like the gold-rims unless they are on the white-blue-redish colourscheme. 😄
I have a 2021 model and frankly I would only have those colours if BMW gave me the bike which sadly, they didn't. The coating of mud and cow poo that you carefully applied is however a great improvement on the original colour scheme. All the best.
Could be exhust as I've changed mine on my 2019 .... sounds a lot diffrent and feels like more kick there .... Does Dave know that you was waving to he's girlfriend at the begging of the video lol
That is far too much tech and moving parts on a bike for my liking. You can not expect a user to service this himself - tilting lights, riding modes, fancy suspension, a million sensors... The bike is wider than needed for city traffic, bad for offroad, has inadequate wind protection for highways, extreme service costs and on top of that is extremely complex, making reliability and longevity an open question. I really do not get a point of it.

What it would take for me to buy a new GS? A reverse gear. I looking for a dual sport, touring bike that I can easily maneuver in the dirt.
