Thank you. We used Ropinerole to treat my RLS and we experienced several of the side effects that you describe. It worked but the other problems it caused were also life altering. Keep doing what you do. 👍🏻
I am suffering from neuropathy in my legs from lymphedema of my legs. The pain was so bad I couldn't stand it and of course I couldn't sleep. I am not used to taking a lot of medication however I'm a chronic back pain with awful thoracic and lumbar pain so I do take zanaflex for awful muscle. I eat very very low carbohydrates and higher protein and fat which seems to help with the inflammation. I have only been taking this drug for 3 days and the pain in my legs have stopped. I am only taking 1mg.. it just concerns me and I wanted to know how long I can take this medication and if I stop will horrible pain in my legs come back. I really don't want to take this medication however I had to do something because the pain was unbearable and it kept me from sleeping and I didn't know what else to do. Please help me if you can and thank you.
I have known patients to be on it long term. There’s no way to know if the pain will come back after you stop other than to try it. But you definitely want to do this with your doctors counsel
I've tried this off-label for anhedonic depression and it worked (including anxiolytic effects) but it gave me too much drowsiness along with orthostatic hypotension even in a low dose (0.25mg) but it worked faster than pramipexole (i.e. 3 days for a good response vs 7 days for pramipexole). (Ropinirole was originally developed as an antihypertensive drug according to an abstract on PubMed) I've read that ropinirole also targets the sigma-1 receptor, unlike pramipexole and some newer treatments that target this receptor result in a more rapid response to depression. I have found pramipexole to be much more tolerable and I have no more depression or panic attacks. I do get sleep attacks if I'm sitting - so I don't drive - but it's worth it because I otherwise have excellent quality of life.
I am taking .25mg of ropinirole 1 time a day. I sometimes feel awful, heavy heartbeat, nausea, and body twitching. I want to stop taking it, but everything I read states to wean off by taking .25mg less than dosage. But I take only .25mg now, so would taking 1/2 a pill work? And if so for how long?
Hi I have been taking Ropinrole for the last 3 years and it started with jist 0.25 and it has gone up to 1mg as of now... I have observed that whenever i take 0.5mg tablets, for the next 2 hours, will be having lot of anxiety and withdrawals to any ask or work and after couple of hours it slows down... And with 1mg, have lots nausea, giddiness and tiredness... So really looking for an alternative better for a permanent solution
I am on a low dos. For leg pain..HCL 1 MG TABLES.. I really don't want to take it anymore and I have been taken it once every three days or once every other. However it does help the pain in my legs.. I have lymphedema of my thighs and legs and ankles. How long can a person stay on this drug at this dosage..
I am now taking 2 x 2mg daily and my RLS and PLMD are getting really bad. Even with sleeping tablets only manage 4 hours…some nights no sleep at all. Feel I am going mad and constantly crying. My doctor is Spanish and really doesn’t understand the syndrome
Same experience with me as well... Quite often sleepless nights and off for the next whole day and there will be lots of anxiety about getting sleep next day... One observation is that if I take any other medication such as paracetamol or norflox for stomach upset or even more water along with Ropinrole i will have sleepless nights and not only that it doesn't even allow me to lie down but keep moving else I will have to focus on something else such as playing chess in the wee hours of midnight...

Long term it will do you serious damage. Some truly nasty chemicals go into making it
Can ropinirole cause swelling in the ankles and legs!
Not common but it can happen

I have seen good results using PEMF for RLS. Also diet appears to play a role

There is no such things as "side effects". There are only effects. What are you willing to live with is how you approach this.
