I’ve had RLS for 50+ years and couldn’t find any relief. I joined a diabetic group as I’m newly diabetic on Facebook and the conversation turned to RLS and someone said she took magnesium clycanate and iron. I decided to try it and it took about 4 weeks to start to act and now I get some nights sleep and only maybe only up at night about once or twice a week whereas I was up every night walking the floor. I just hope this carries on.
It’s been a month since you posted this and I was wondering how your legs are doing? Are you still taking magnesium? I Hope sleep come easy. 😊
Oh vivhvihvi
I think you are talking about magnesium glycinate.
Good to hear! I've been dealing with RLS for 15 yrs and have been on dopamine meds for all that time. Two weeks ago, I started iron, magnesium, fish oil, D3 and K2 along with MegaFlora probiotic to aid in absorption. Hoping and praying to ween off the prescription medications. Thanks and good luck.
Best explanation of RLS and what might be going in your body I’ve ever come across.
I really appreciate it, J Logan.
Thank you so much! It’s nice to hear someone not telling us to simply just stretch. Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Thank you for validating how debilitating & real RLS is.
Really well explained 👍🏼
I appreciate that James.
I tried to use compression stocking and it works for me up to now. Happy to help.
Thanks for sharing this.
Good to know. I’ve just ordered some online. Looking forward to trying them.
You make a lot of sense .
So do you.
I’ve had RLS for years. I saw a specialist who prescribed medication for it but I really didn’t want to take what I call heavy duty medication. A couple of years ago I started taking magnesium which stopped the creepy crawly feelings and not being able to keep still. Very happy with the results of that but now I have nights I don’t sleep at all. It seems to be RLS without the other bits. A sleeping tablet that would normally knock me out has no affect at all. If I take enough to help me sleep I’ll sleep halfway thru the day. I’m now trying adding more iron to my diet. I’m now a full on magnesium fan.
HI @Ann Clarke , it sounds like you might be making a very common mistake you can learn about magnesium here: th-cam.com/video/6rDn9RK43cc/w-d-xo.html
and if you watch this video, you can figure out if magnesium is making a catabolic imbalance worse: th-cam.com/video/bhYhU2_LSfM/w-d-xo.html
and this video will help you understand that there is more than one cause for insomnia and it's really about figuring out what that cause is for you: th-cam.com/video/3A-6QBWMWVw/w-d-xo.html
Let us know how it goes.
Hi. Will do. Thanks for that.
You bet.
Hi. Did watch the article. Don’t think I made myself clear in last post. I only suffer from insomnia once or twice a week The rest of the time sleep too well. If the insomnia is not RLS it would mean I no longer have RLS. For the past couple of years I haven’t had the uncontrollable thrashing or horrible creepy crawly feeling in my legs. Also since I started on magnesium I have (with cardiologist permission) stopped medication for atrial fibrillation and no a/f for 3 years and about a month ago (again with doctors permission) stopped BP medication as my Bp became so low I was having blackouts. Maybe wrong but as I’ve been on these meds for years and I am thinking it could well be magnesium. I’m 80 years old and my only meds now is for low thyroid and blood thinners. Though I am having surgery in a month for 12 cm hiatal hernia and what a nightmare that has caused. I found your video very interesting and as at the moment I have a sprained ankle plan to sit and watch more today. Thank you so much.
Hi Anne, that's great that you've been able to reduce your need for medications and correct your high blood pressure naturally. Way to go. If you havne't seen it, here is our video on hiatel hernia: th-cam.com/video/zHz0WGYS0sU/w-d-xo.html
I am having insanely discomforting RLS after Suboxone treatment. It lasts for days, weeks even, and I was already someone who had RLS before this. It's tormenting. Mine is a burning, electric feeling with some other side effects I cannot explain. Walking and massage gun help a little.
My legs start to hurt as soon as I lie down in bed. A few years ago I only had it in my calves. My legs have been hurting for a few months now. My muscles pull all night, I didn't sleep at 4 o'clock last night. I'm completely devastated and my legs now feel like I've had leg day
It’s a "jumpy" feeling. I *have* to kick my legs - even though that doesn’t work and I’ve used my legs plenty during the day.
Had rsl for years, muscle twitching etc, four days into your advice on gut health. Just started betain, choline and digestive enzymes. ❤
Does that mean that the RLS has improved already @Jennie Lunn?
Eggs are loaded with choline!!
Thanks
Welcome
Thank you !!!

You bet!
I have muscle contractions and leg jerking, it’s enough to drive a person insane! My doctor prescribed Requip/Roprinirole which was a miracle however it only addresses the symptoms. I’m trying to cut back on the meds and replace with a more natural remedy … I’ve had great relief with Magnesium Glycinate and have recently added 8 oz of Tonic Water in the evening has been effective as well! I am now going to do a deep dive into the minerals that can help and the anabolic state! Thank you for the great explanation and ideas to get to the root cause of RLS!!
😊❤
Tonic Water because of the quinine?
Never had RLS until I hit menopause :(
I have had RLS for over 25 years I used to get good relief from Pramipexole but it is losing its effectiveness. Recently I have been taking electrolyte tablets in the afternoon and this seems to working well.
Having microscopic colitis has been very challenging for me for over 23 years, I have always had rls just not as bad as when i hit my 50s. Seems to get worse the older i get to the point its restlessbody syndrome no matter how tiered i am, and then its like wide awkake restless brain syndrome for the rest of the night. I have tried every possible solution for my microscopic C with absolutely no avail....
You have to talk about proper hydration problems that I have for long time and a lot of problems with my digestive system besides other health issues
Here is our video on who should really drink more water: th-cam.com/video/eea4TDo2TD4/w-d-xo.html
I take Gabapentin, its the only thing that has worked. Only major complaint is feeling very sluggish the next morning and throughout the day. Dealing with it tonight as i write this and just want to cry...
Sorry, me too
Gabapentin worked for me but it causes bone loss. Severe!
Sorry for your distress; I share it. ❤
I take repinerole for mine , for several years , an it seems like some night was better than other s took the digestion course , an working on this it has worked much better . Not many symptoms now nothing like it was 3 months ago
Great job. Glad you learned helpful stuff in our free course.
After painting buildings for some years, and finally hanging up my brushes, I began to experience RLS. What I found is that if I rub DMSO on my legs when they cramp-up at night, and I can't stop moving them after brief intervals, then the cramping immediately stops, and I have no problem sleeping. I now apply it in the morning, and at night before bed.
Let us know what symptoms you experience with RLS.
I have severe OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) Two years ago I had the Inspire device surgery and my OSA symptoms have much improved, however, I do suffer from RLS as well. My doctor has me on 1200 mg of Gabapentin every night. When I begin to fall asleep one of my legs "kicks" and that keeps me from falling asleep, the Gabapentin prevents this as it has stopped completely. But I would like to try a natural remedy.
I get RLS every night and have tried just about everything . I have had issues with my bile duct for years causing Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction after having my gallbladder removed
My symptoms are the need to move my legs , it’s like I have things crawling around in my calves, sometimes moving up to my thighs.
Out of the blue for 3 nights i started getting like electric feelings running through my legs stipping me sleeping. I stopped taking my multivitamin because maybe i was taking in too much b6 ( was just a thought) started taking magnesium tablets ( 4 kinds included in them) and then no more jumpy legs in the last week. Dont know if its because of this but hope it carries on.
Mine is the crawling and creeping feeling. I use magnesium and vitamin lotion. So far so good.
Thanks for sharing!!
There is one solution. It's iron disregulation. There is too much iron and not enough copper.
Merely Robinson explains the iron copper imbalance.
Yeah, this is actually a problem that I had with hemochromatosis, but it's so rare compared to these other issues that I didn't mention it here. But an excellent point.
I had stomache pains that put me in hospital 3 times in 3 weeks and eventually got diagnosed with gastritis and duodenitis. In those 3 weeks I didn't eat much and lost about 8 to 10kg
Got put on 2 different types of antibiotics for a 7 day cycle which ended on friday 4 days ago. For the last 5 days ive had restless legs and arms when I sit down and lay down.
I think my gut issues is the reason. I will definitely get some magnesium tablets and multi vitamins.
Any other tips will be appreciate. Great video thank you
Hi, consider taking a probiotic. Antibiotics destroy gut flora which is essential. Greek yoghurt for example or a probiotic in supplement form . Bon courage
I have pain tightening, electric tingling, pins and needles stabbing lost of motion in my toes, and my feet go cold and change color. after getting a iron infusion
79 year old husband has suffered severely for about 8 years - mirtazapine helped a but but eventually did not so now he is completely sleep deprived and has had 2 consecutive minor strokes

Drinking a small glass of Schweppes indian tonic water before bed really helps, as it contains Quinine, which helps allot .my mums doc used to prescribe her quinine tablets, for RLS ,which worked, the Dr told my mum to try the tonic water as it saves money on prescriptions and no need to take more tablets. Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing this. I wonder if the carbonation in the water might also be helping to improve an overly alkaline bloodstream.
Only problem it's full of sugar. And that contributes to RLS. The quinine is relieving the symptoms but then the sugar kicks in.
…”problems from an EXCESSIVE anabolic imbalance”. I Like your video - but I hate spelling errors! I get RLS on night flights and have found a cure - nothing with sugar the day I am flying. Works very well!
Yeah, did you know that anger from spelling mistakes is also a sign of being overly anabolic. LOL. Not really. But if removing sugar relieves the RLS, you may be creating spikes and crashes in sugar that are magnifying the RLS. This video could give you some insights: th-cam.com/video/QvvvtyrO_Yw/w-d-xo.html
I have severe rls. Docs gave me Pramipexole years ago. Seems to be worse now. I also have hemochromatosis which is too much (Ferritin - over 750) Iron in my blood. Which doesn't make sense given the lack of iron is one of the causes of RLS. It also starts up immediately after eating. It is ruining my life. I'm at my wits end
Mine starts after eating also.Mine is severe now as well.I take ropinarole.75 mg now one .25 after dinner and two .25 at about 8:00 bed at 10:00. I had a good week .My heart goes out to you it is torture.
I’ve had RLS for over 20 years and it got to the point of causing severe insomnia and brain zaps. The only thing that keeps it away is eating red meat, salt and water. Pork and chicken are huge triggers. Found your channel a couple months ago and have been working on fixing my digestion in hopes that it’s a mineral deficiency. When I do have issues it can be pretty bad for a night, but if I eat strict red meat it isn’t so bad the next night and then completely gone the next night. Besides maybe too much histamine I haven’t been able to determine root cause.
Hey have you tried iron supplements ? Since red meat is high in iron which could be the reason why you don't sugfer rls when you eat red meat
I have tried both heme and non-heme supplements but they didn’t help. My digestion has gotten tons better after supplementing HCL and Beer Flow. RLS has also been in check and I haven’t had to be super strict with my diet
Digestion may be the reason for some people.
What about the cause being lower back pain and nerve impingement?
Absolutely a possibility.
my RLS is horrible, it feels like a feeling I never felt before, Not sure how to explain it. I feel it in my arms and my legs and even back. It keeps me up tossing and turning and rocking and walking around most of the night. I am trying magnesium, and it seems to be helping somewhat. I even get it when I get sleepy at work, I start fidgiting and cannot concentrate, it sucks.
Have you tried soaking in a hot tub? This is the only thing that works for me. I usually end up sleeping in the bath most nights. And it keeps the symptoms away for a few hours after too.
@@LaughingRam I soak in a hot tub with epsom salts actually, it helps for a bit but it comes back :(
My child is 10 years old .he face Rls problem .and taking calcium and iron but not cured .he has feeling crawling cramping in left leg
A high mineral, natural plant to take, plus other vitamins is "Moringa" many comments here on U-tube.
I am almost 8 months pregnant, and my RLS started at 27 weeks. Im trying iron and magnesium supplements. Hoping something will help!
Yes, keep in mind that RLS is often a low resources issues and the act of being pregnant takes a LOT of resources to make that human. So it totally makes sense that RLS can start during pregnancy.
Magnesium is very important to take during pregnancy but many doctors will discourage you from taking it but they’re wrong.
Mine is restless feet constantly rub them together some nights not to bad sometime go to sleep n wake up n it starts just started taking magnesium glycinate hopefully that will help 🙏
Whoa I have to rub my feet together, too. I already take magnesium and my iron levels are fine, but I still get creepy-crawly sensations in my hips and have to move my whole leg, and my feet rub together a LOT. Did the magnesium help? I take mag citrate though so maybe it's only the glycinate form.
I find walking at least 5km a day keeps me from getting rls.
Thanks for sharing Tammy.
I had it for years, burning and electric. I discovered that I wasn’t absorbing vitamin from the food or supplements. L glutamine save me!
How did you discovered that? Bc I feel i has the same
L-glutamine has the ability to lift blood pressure if it's too low and can also correct a catabolic imbalance. That can be beneficial for someone who is not pulling minerals out of their food. But for some folks, glutamine could also magnify RLS for different reasons if the person is already leaning too anabolic. This video can help you figure out if glutamine could be helpful or not: th-cam.com/video/bhYhU2_LSfM/w-d-xo.html

Just when I’m transitioning into deep sleep my legs start jerking and I can not control it. For years I’d take a hot shower and that worked but eventually I was taking 3 or 4 hot showers a night. Then started the journey of finding pharmaceutical relief. The only med that ever helped is Lyrica but I hate the side effects. Having break through symptoms now and resisting going up on the medication.
My RLS is out of control.
Magnesium supplement and Magnesium oil has not helped.
I’m on 900 mg of Gabapentin ( not working).
Also Hyland restless leg natural tablets, Restless leg creams, sleep in tablets, etc.
Seeing Doc this week and asking prescription for a TOMAC devise.
I’m on a RLS support group, seen two neurologist and meds ( plus full blood work) and a MRI.
I just cry before bed, as it feels like I’m being shocked, it just horrible.
.
Have you tried a hot compress (or heating pad). I’m going to try that tonight to see if that helps.
I don't know how to describe mine, maybe not a "burning" but a discomfort of heat. I feel the need to kick around and move my feet.

Pickle juuce is great for RLS symptoms. I also drink 2 TBS of apple cider vinegar diluted in 16 ounces of cold water at bedtime. It has helped a lot. @@sumeemasud7347
Massage with Organisk kokosoil and magnesium malate before bedtime.
Magnesium oil can be helpful.
Another eye opener!
B vitamins always give severe restless legs? Not sure why that is?
Thank you....I have suspected B1 for a while as I'm taking it for something else, will stop and see what happens.
A super hot bath usually calms mine long enough to get to sleep.

I have suffered from this for years. About 10 years ago I was at my pulmonologist office for something unrelated and I happen to mention to him what my legs feel like and how often it happened at night. He chuckled a little bit, took out his prescription pad and said take this is called Mirapex. He said his wife also suffered from this. I started taking Mirapex 25 mg and it works like a charm. It literally takes it away every time. I only took it when I started feeling symptoms but through the years I take 50 mg now and I take it every night before bed, it literally completely takes away the symptoms every single time I don't know what causes it actually nobody does I try to figure out what I do on different days and see if there's any common denominator, but to this day I've never come up with one. My mother has suffered with this for years, but she would not take medication from it until recently. At 90 years old she decided to try it and she started crying two days later because it took the symptoms away. Although I didn't know my grandfather, my mother said he suffered from the same thing so obviously there is some genetic component to it if I didn't have Mirapex, I don't know what I would do, I really don't. If you suffer from restless leg syndrome, haven't tried Mirapex I strongly strongly suggest you do literally a lifesaver.
I'm going to talk to my doctor about mirapex. Rls is getting bad
@@sandracantrell5755 I would absolutely give it a try. I found there to be zero side effects that I know of and my 91-year-old mother just started taking it a few months ago after suffering from it for years and it works perfectly.
Mirapex is mega-expensive. Get your doc to prescribe Pramipexole ( generic form of Mirapex ) instead. Problem with this treatment is that it is susceptible to losing its effectiveness over time, requiring ever increasing doses to be effective ( I think the medical term for this is "augmentation"(?) )
Pramipexol (Mirapex) can cause augmentation and Impulse Control Disorders (ICD). Be very cautious and educate yourself before taking this drug. I took Pramipexol for years and it resolved my RLS for years. But finally had to quit because of the augmentation and ICD. OMG!!! I didn’t know I had the ICD but now realize that it was going to ruin my life. In addition, there are severe withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking this drug. Do your research on these issues and be very cautious!
I take Pramipexole .25 mg. Half a tablet daily. It helps but not completely. I will cut down on the sugar. Do not sleep well at all.
Yeah, often the RLS and insomnia can have the same underlying causes for some folks, even when it's not the RLS that is keeping them awake. This video might give you more insights: th-cam.com/video/3A-6QBWMWVw/w-d-xo.html

I too am thinking about fasting. This rls is kicking me in the butt.horrible.
Hello! How did the fasting work for you with the RLS?
I went dairy free and it has disappeared after years of trying to find the right answer for me.
I love that. Dairy an be enough of a burden for some people that I could see that.
Tight calves....knots in calves. I can feel when rls is coming. I'm miserable.
I had RLS since as long as I can remember, on a INSANE severe level. at age 5 in the middle of the night I started cutting my leg with a kitchen knife, on the table, screaming in pain, I just wanted to remove my legs. I couldnt stand it.. it spread all over my system, not just the legs. Suffering from this my entire life until age 12 when I found Cannabis. Thc helped me, except it's illegal in my country and thats when everything falled apart. 18 years later here I sit, just quited smoking 5 days ago.. restless legs instantly came back now and I cant fkn sleep..I need to work tomorrow but will fail because no sleep. I hate this. it has ruined my life. Working out, Running, Eating well, nothing helps. Also it was so mental, at age 5-30(now), All I have to do is hear someone say restless legs and it activates it. so everytime I accidently thought of it, it would start.. endless circle.. I remember once when I had completely forgotten about RLS and didnt experience it for almost a full year, I was about 10 years old here, that's when I realized "holy shit I havent had RESTLESS legs in such a long time!!!", then it came back... like what the fk. kill my brain pls.
Withdrawal symptons maybe? You OK Now? God Bless You

@@nelphieblessed9682 - Im thinking of asking for medicinal cannabis due to my insane RLS
I was on morphine for 22 years for degenerative disc disease. I decided to get off that poison and went thru withdrawals last year ( it took me about 6 months). The leg traumas were awful during the withdrawals. I’ve been opioid free since August 2022. But RLS started almost immediately. It’s devastating. I don’t sleep for more than two hours a night and sometimes no sleep at all. I was put on the medication for Parkinson’s disease (Requip sp.) I hate that drug. I will only take the smallest dose because of the nasty side effects so it’s not much help at all. It also interacts with many other drugs and supplements including cold medicines and antihistamines. I’m weaning off it now. I have been eating Keto for the past 6 years so no sugar and no more than 20 gm of carbs a day. I take magnesium and calcium supplements daily. Still my legs go crazy every night and a lot during the day. I need to find someone who can help me. Life is awful …people just don’t understand…they blow it off like it’s nothing. No sleep is torture.
Just try going dairy free. Mine disappeared after years of sleeplessness and Parkinson’s meds

Try supplementing manganese.
I've never heard anyone else say this helped. thanks for sharing your experience.
@@KickItNaturally manganese is better for upper body twitches. Arms, head, etc.
@@KickItNaturally It typically occurs at the nap hour, and if you are in an environment whereby the room conserves heat too well, then the best approach is to do a before nap time workout routine of your choice for an hour and also remember to keep the dry air out during the summer the best way you know how or winter time using the thermo control with the "fan" control setting on "auto" fan setting simultaneously and not "on". Dry fan air will dissipate at auto setting, and it's good for the lungs when you do your workout out in your room at night before bed. That's my conclusion and cure after 38+ years, too. It seems that at this age, it is the gold standard age experience I've noticed. Human evolution wasn't meant for energy saving high-tech rooms, which trap dry air in rather to the contrary outdoor experience. Who even gets cured off of restless leg syndrome on a couch rather than outdoors doing stuff and then napping in the forest somewhere. I am serious about this. It's a cure on my behalf in every season of the year and counting. My time for a workout is at the 12 mark to 1am. It is cold outside to open windows and dangerous too. unpredictable too if you live with your loved ones.

Jumping.
:)
I need to if I HAVE a imbalance in my system
Starts at left leg. Jim pines s then goes up to left arm. Almost like a person who has MS. Uncontrollable jumps
I take prameprexole meds that barely works also I take magnesium vitamins. Nothing works. I have to get up and walk around almost all night until it stops. I’m a smoker for many years which I’m sure has a lot to do with it too
a gin and tonic at 4pm and a bar of soap between the sheets gives me 3 - 6 hours of sleep at night and better naps.
Jump all around can’t sleep cause I can’t hold still
Help make it stop plea

Three to 4 months after doing low carb diet, I started having a feeling of somethings crawling in my legs mostly before I get up in the morning. My doctor doesn't know what it is. I only just realised it lately from watching TH-cam, that it is called Restless legs.
We love low carb, but not everyone qualifies to use a really low carb diet without creating some troubles. Your best bet could be to go through our totally free digestion course because that will walk you through running simple self-tests you can run at home to get an idea of what imbalances can be creating trouble, and what steps would help you correct them.
