I am sure the dealers would love that idea but reality is once the factory warranty runs out the car, will most likely be reposed since the owner probably cannot afford both the repair of the vehicle and the loan at the same exact time. The only solution is for the dealers/manufacturers to lower pricing.

I’m speculating these rigs and a lot more were financed and they gotta drive them into the ground to make payments and support themselves. I can’t imagine being beholden to a $800 or $1000 car payment plus insurance, maintenance, gas. Crazy what we do to make money. I will not spend more than 30K for a rig now as that was the amount I paid in 2008. Will not buy a new rig ever again. Under 20K will be my future budget. Cash no financing.

2016 RAV4 Hybrid AWD with 122K miles. In my book would only pay $9K besides at auction you don't really know the issues/mechanical failure with the vehicle. Was bought for $13,400 and may have to put $6K prior to reselling then add the dealer profit margin of another $5k. That makes for $24,400 on an 8-year-old vehicle with high mileage for me above 80K miles. See Ya Later. Walk away.
In October 2020 bought a Toyota CPO 2018 RAV4 Limited AWD with 17,805 miles for $22,100 at a Toyota dealership was a leased vehicle. 2018 RAV4 Limited AWD had an MSRP of $35K-$36K.

This is perhaps the best way for your viewers to know if cars are more expensive than you think they should be or cheaper than you expected. It's not a case of being right or wrong. We the viewers do not just know the kelly blue book on all of these vehicles nor how to rate the vehicle in order to reduce or increase the KBB base value.

I'm on the other side of the spectrum. I've been unemployed since June. I am IT professional and have been interviewing on a weekly basis. IT professional market is about 40% lighter than it was last year. So much more competitive to find a job. I have a car payment that I've been trying to maintain but obviously has fallen behind. After three months of unemployment is exhausted most of my reserves that I had saved. Unemployment is $900 every two weeks. So it comes to the point where you decide is it more important to have a roof under my head or do I need to let this vehicle go so I can use this $500 that would go to the car payment to use for food or utilities. At this point to catch up with my payments it might make sense just to get a $2,000 beater vehicle to get from point a to point b. It's definitely a bad situation to be in 🙏

Still way high of prices on used cars.
Even worse if you have to finance said car.

Prices aren’t coming down and here’s way. The dollar has lost about 20% of its value since 2020. Between 2020-2023 more money was printed than the previous 30 year’s combined. Inflation has caused the dollar to lose its value. So gone are the days of finding a good reliable car under 100k miles for under $5k. Now it costs $8k. Cars with 115-125k miles are going for over $5k is just ridiculous

Couldn't believe how expensive and NOT gas-economical they are. Guy I know got rid of his b/c he sd it was always breaking w/high repair costs. I thought they'd be great for mother earth & if we all changed to small cars there'd be less kids dying in accidents from suvs & trucks...ah well...

One thing I wonder is that in a home mortgage loan you are allowed at least twice depending on the bank to do a re age so if you are 3 months behind you can add that payment balance to the end of the loan so when you are going to pay off you have that balance at the end. I wonder if some banks can allow that on auto loans to prevent some of these defaults. It does not make sense the consumer at the end of the day still needs a car and they will just save up a down payment get a co signer and start a new cycle

Houses are a safer form of collateral, in that they rarely depreciate, unlike a car. Also kicking someone out of their house is a bigger deal than taking back their car.

When I worked for a bank we would allow a borrower to pay the interest only and put that payment on the end of the loan..they were allowed to do this twice a year. Helped prevent some repos but in some cases they just couldn't pay the car loan and sooner or later we would end up repoing the car.

I could re-clear that Toyota. They make a 2k clear now with a hardener on the bottom of the can. Just wet sand 2000 grit the top panels. Spray it. Repeat after it cured and then buff after a day or so. Cost maybe 1500

Don't see many newer Hondas, Subarus, Camrys, etc. Lots of the same brand, style & years range of vehicles over time. Or maybe I'm being selective in what I notice? Stay cool, Brandon!
