- Once on This Island is a coming-of-age one-act stage musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, this Philippine production was staged in 2005, directed by Bart Guingona for Actor's Actors Inc. and Silang Communications Inc.

Thank you for uploading this. It seems like the last broadway revival (2017) was based on this as the vocal and musical arrangements sounds very similar compared to the original 1990 production. Although this was lower budget but it sounds comparable.

What a great production! I'm hoping it was a final dress, since the audience seemed very sparse. I got to see the original B'way production because a friend was in the cast. Later I got to witness legendary Lilas White (replacement for Asaka) bring down the house with "Mama Will Provide" during a Mother's Day Sunday matinee!
House was packed - just not evident in the video. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Such a great musical indeed! 🙂
