    My dad had me flying nitro planes from a very young age and i had a knack for it. But when i was a teenager i tried getting into helicopters on a simulator and its no joke. Toy helicopters make you think that its not that bad but when you are in full control and the the helicopter does exactly what you tell it to, you realize how bad you are at it.

      @Engage RC imho the hardest part of helis is keeping track of where it is pointing. Like planes go forward and if you are in trouble a little throttle can get you out of it. If you can't keep up with your inputs on a heli you are going to have a bad time lol

    Flying nitro planes from a young age must have been an exciting experience! I can imagine how challenging it must be to transition to helicopters. Can't wait to see if the "uncrashable" RC helicopter lives up to its name! 🚁😮🤔

  • @NiCadHeliPilot
    @NiCadHeliPilot ปีที่แล้ว

    I fly these helicopters, myself. Although, mine are exclusively electric, these days.
    Anyone can get into it, for a start. Helicopters are nowhere near as 'expensive' as what they once were, when I started doing this in 2007.
    There _is_ a big learning curve, when it comes to being able to fly helicopters well. The recommended path is to learn to hover in all orientations first, before progressing to doing basic circuits (which is where most people plateau, & that's absolutely fine).
    My attitude towards crashing is the polar opposite to what's considered 'the norm' with helicopters, & my rationale behind it is every crash is preventable if not completely avoidable entirely.
    Kev is actually really good at flying. In this video, his flying right now is typical of someone that is out-of-practice. IE His flying skills are rusty (which he has already stated in the video). That's okay. All he needs to do is put in a bit more practice both in the simulator & IRL (even when he finds it 'boring'), & he will get better at flying.
    With me, if I go for one day without practicing either IRL or in the simulator, I lose a good 60% of my own flying skill... by skipping merely one day.
    That goes to show the amount of skill required to fly these aircraft, & especially to the caliber that aerobatics pilots (such as Kev & yours truly) fly to.
    In Kev's case, his videos are geared towards being entertaining as well as informative. Truth be told, crashes _are_ entertaining, period.
    "Nobody wants to crash. But, when a crash happens, you definitely don't want to miss it, either." --Curtis Youngblood.
    As for the gatekeepers what dictate that Kev shouldn't be anywhere near helicopters, let alone fly them, here is what I have to say about that:
    A.) Gatekeeping is what prevents & discourages any newer (& younger) people from getting into flying helicopters;
    B.) It's a bit of an unspoken 'golden rule' to _never_ interfere with &/or micromanage how your fellow pilot conducts themselves with their aircraft, unless what they are doing is genuinely harmful to themselves &/or those around them; &
    C.) Overregulation already threatens the existence of the entire uncrewed/remotely piloted aircraft side of the RC hobby. It makes _no_ sense to me, to add insult to injury by gatekeeping & being divided among ourselves, when there are far more pressing matters at hand (such as overregulation).

    Wow Kevin. I didn't know you flew copters too. And you fly well. I flew helis alot back from 2005 to about 2013, had tons of different helis (A mid-size Evo, a few Hirobo's Evo 50's, Raptor 50, small T-Rex's, and one T-Rex 600E) and did a lot of 3D and sport flying. My last 3D copter that I KEPT besides my small 3S/4S T-Rex's was a modest Raptor 50 but with alot of high end parts and a Kasama head. I parted with most of my heli gear right around the beginning of the 2008 Housing crisis. I was about done with the obsessive accumulation and maintenance of all those helis and luckily divested myself while there was still a market. Before nitro was $50 a gallon. Kept many of my electric planes though, those keep well and are cheap anyway. After starting helis I got somewhat into planes, and then drones after 2010. Never did the R/C car thing but since watching your channel I'm absolutely stoked about getting a couple cars. I just ordered an Omni Terminator Carbon 1/10 scale as my gateway drug. Originally I was looking at a Mojave 4S or something bigger like that, but I'm content to start small and work my way up if I enjoy it. Plus I found the Omni was on sale WITH a 3S battery included for $212 ! Can't beat that for a small bargain basher, right? Plus I can probably drive it anywhere, even by my home stretch.

    I lost my first ever fpv drone 3 years ago, same thing happened it’s because it was in angle/self level mode and there is a angle limit so with a lot of wind you couldn’t pitch forward enough to combat the wind so it just goes bye bye lol. I only fly 5inch freestyle now in full acro mode it’s actually easier that self level mode cause that is just fighting your inputs more than helping you so I always recommend people to just learn in acro mode from the get go.

    when I used to fly helis, we’d usually average a dozen or so sessions without crashing. It’s kinda sad to see these getting this beat up. It’s really necessary with high-performance 3D helis to double-check all the servos, gearing, torque tube, swash level, all that before safely flying again. The way they seem to be operating here feels a bit reckless since these can be dangerous if control is lost in proximity to others. Definitely wouldn’t have “flown” at the club I was part of. All for having fun and enjoying your toys however you please but please be extra careful with what are basically flying lawnmowers.

    I can't believe how much trouble people have with flying helicopters. It's simple.
    3 steps. That's it.
    1. Set it up right.
    2. Put in the correct control inputs.
    3. Don't crash.
    Super simple.

    Super nice, just need to go a little softer on your 3d and might not crash at all, if sim gets boring put on some of your favorite tunes help go a bit longer and try sim daily even if just 10 min. Thanks for all the great car video's and a special thanks for this helicopter video I really appreciate rc planes and helicopters.

    Try F3C instead of 3D. It entails more precise control (Not knocking 3D flight). Anyway. Enjoy.

    I was at a field in my area last weekend and there was a bloke there that had a huge P51 Mustang.
    Man that thing was absolutely gorgeous.
