kevin lee, you are just too kind to invite us in and show us your pride & joy. thank you. im in awe. such a lovely place. i can visit mentally when i need a break.😘
Clover Hill is a true gem. I'm glad you beat out that first offer. You have brought in a style of simple elegance that really accentuates the beauty of the house perfectly.
Ur attention to detail and love for this home is so heartwarming. I can’t imagine someone coming in and robbing this home of its majesty! Those windows and that gorgeous floor just take my breath away. The floors in this home r truly my favorite…amazing ❤
As a new subscriber, I am so glad to see videos that were made some time ago are still available. I love old houses and am so happy to see your beautiful restoration of this one. It’s so good to see respect for the past! Thank you for sharing!
The draperies are exquisite in detail and color. Thank goodness you bought this jewel and saved it from the salvage company. No matter how beautiful a new home may be, you can never find the depth of detail that you can find in these old homes. From the pocket doors to the wide plank floors, and floor to ceiling windows, there is nothing to equal these one of a kind treasures. You must just love waking up in the morning in this history filled home.
Kevin, I am loving your videos. My Husband and I purchased a 1772 manor house on 2 acres in January this year. It also is on the National Register of Historic places. The house was well taken care of over the years. Our major updates have been a inground swimming pool and are currently doing a kitchen renovation. I have lots gardens planned. I enjoyed seeing what you have done and also like how you explained your antique furniture. Thank you for doing the videos. I look forward to seeing more.
Brilliant! I keep wondering are you an interior designer, chef, architect, grounds keeper, landscape architect, house manager, royal keeper of China and flatware, organizer of kitchen, crystal placements, bidder at auctions,, musicians, royal housekeeper of linens, ? Do you have a staff to attend to all these needs? I’m impressed with all you knowledge! Thank you can’t wait to see the rest of your videos .
... oh, for shame? ... who could possibly imagine such a Fine Lady of a home, to fall into the hands of a salvager ... although salvaging can save gem elements of an un-restorable home, this lovely home has been wonderfully rescued & is 'enjoying' a second life .. congrat's on your wonderful purchase ... your decision of devotion to this very fine property is very admirable...what an enchanting parlour ... I just caught an inner vision, of a lovely parlour maid bringing in afternoon tea ...
Another beautiful room, and I love the period time. I could imagine the rooms filled with life during the 1800’s. I wonder if his great great granddaughter shared stories with you, or if she has more photos of the home and family times. Your home is a beautiful treasure. Thank you for sharing.
Dear Kevin…..what my mother used to say: ‘A thing of beauty, is a joy, forever’. Having renovated several houses, in London, Sydney, and Perth, Western Australia, I truly appreciate your exquisite taste, in the renovation applied to your lovely home, giving it a new life. An American friend asked me about preparing an English ‘High Tea’. I sent her your details, which she enjoyed immensely, especially the sandwiches, and the petit fours. ‘High Teas are VERY popular in Australia, especially for ladies’s birthdays, or pre wedding celebrations! Come and check us out…..one of the world’s greatest wine producers, the freshest seafood, food ingredients in one of the world’s most pristine environments! 👏💐🇦🇺💖
No, no and no when it comes to getting rid of the original features of a house. I'm so glad you saved and perserved your beautiful home. I've been known to cry over videos when I see an older home remodeled in the latest trends, lol. Enjoyed your video, beautiful house. Not sure what the legs are called, I know my grandmother's pie crust table's legs were referred to as a pedestal base with tripod legs.
Those beautiful floor to ceiling windows not only brought in light but also must have been a godsend in the summer months to keep the rooms cool. These floor to ceiling windows were more prevalent in southern homes where the winters were mild but summers oppressive.
Thank you for sharing your home, your talent and abilities with us. Our lives are better because of you. Thank you so much you are loved and appreciated.
When you were showing the parlor, it brought back a lot of forgotten memories to me when I was a child. My Grandmothers parlor was for company only. The room was always cool and had a fragrance of its own. The old upright piano was where I practiced my piano lessons. The piano was also left to me when she passed away. White lace curtains, old beautiful rugs. Sorry guess I got a little nostalgic. Loved your video.
Oh I just LOVE those floor to ceiling windows. What a magnificent space, and the furnishing are just exquisite! This may sound ridiculous, but it is _so_ much bigger than I imagined from the pictures now that I see you in there for comparison You two have done a wonderful restoration - gives me hope for my decrepit 50's ranch rambler
Kevin Lee- you energize me in many ways. In this video the merging of the shades of green set off by the flowers and lacy asparagus tops- well it literally takes my breath away. You have breathed life into this property. Though you do not wish to remove the mirror- is there perhaps deepen the shade of the glass? My mind swirls with ideas but haven't been able to find example images. And Lilly- the doyenne.
Beautiful Part 2! Love the green curtains and that blue couch is amazing! I acquired a beautiful grandfather clock at an auction for just $50 so I agree, auctions can be a great place to find these stunning pieces.
Mr Jacobs I observed that you say “We didn’t have electric lights in 1826” in reference to the windows floor to ceiling light …meaning that you reincarnated and came back to your original house. The curved in the legs of the table is called spider legs. The name of the curve in the Boston sofa is called Flemish Scroll.
Ahhhhhhh I could live vicariously through Lily lounging in the noonday sun in front of those gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. Thank you!! It would be fun to snap a picture of Lily looking out the window and have it framed.
Cooking on an open fire brings back happy memories of our big bonfires every year after our hedges were cut. Picking up all the branches was a chore I hated, tedious and hard work. But the bonfire was impressive, and once burnt down; I was allowed to cook my dinner outside. Yes, potatoes wrapped in foil cooked in smouldering embers. Frying eggs and bacon, the taste was terrific. Best meals ever
Glorious Parlour, Kevin. In England, I'm from Manchester, we don't have pocket doors and I just love them. Yours, complete with the fully working ornate escutcheons are simply fantastic. The floors you had renovated look amazing and your choice of furniture is impeccable. I would agree with you about your over mantle mirror but seeing the old picture telling the tale of the room certainly assured it stays as a permanent feature. You were lucky, despite all the damage to the house, that it remained in really good condition.
@@kevinleejacobs1364 He came all that way specifically to build your house knowing one day it would be lived in by a kind, gentle soul who would restore it carefully...just as you are doing! Well done!
I found Part 2! ...Already I'm impressed with your venture into posting delightful, relatable videos focusing on a most grand & warm style of living, which was once a bit more common & often seen, & is now being revisited by so many folks choosing to use it as a decor theme for their modern homes. ...I love this style! ...I'm now heading off for Part 3!
... what wonderful inspiration for cooking on my large woodfire heater ... something wonderful I think enters the ambience of the cooking ... even aroma from the fire & the ingredients making harmonious 'music' in the preparations ....
Remarkable for you to have met the descendent -(great-great-granddaughter) of the original owner of Clover Hill. Antidotes of any historicity enhance the restoration process, and help make replete our national identity. Bon courage.
Thank you for letting us into your beautiful home and information on the house. It is beautiful and both of you did an outstanding job. Your hard work is incredible.
I know this was filmed 5 years ago, but even though, thank you for inviting us in to tour your home. PRUDENCE!🤣 What a DAME! LOL Hugs❤ Washington State🌲
Amazing ..I enjoyed watching this video .I like how patio ate you are when talking about the pieces of furniture and impressed how tender you are when touching them. Enjoy your stay with health and happiness. Keep up posting your videos.
Love your videos. I just found you a week or so ago, Nov 2022. I’m having fun going through all the videos and catching up. I love antique (17 and 1800) furniture even though it’s popularity has lessened in recent years, it will always remain my favorite. I’m sure someone has answered your question about the name for that type of table leg…..we always called them “spider” leg tables. Your home is lovely, thanks so much for sharing.
I love period homes and decor. This is a beautiful home. I too love antiques, but they don't go well with my art collection or home. I was buying and reselling on Ebay for about a year. I especially loved hardware, lighting and faucets.
Hi I just subscribed to your channel on one of your videos tour can you give us a tour of your kitchen. I love your beautiful home with all the antiques your house is full of history thank you for restoring this beautiful house. God Bless
Wow another beautiful video. Such history and beauty. You have a friend with masterful skill regarding the window drapes. Love the Prudence portrait too. Thanks for sharing ~ Tracey
Portraits give a sense of history and have such presence they can transform a room I bought a very badly fire sooted portrait who once cleaned I believe to be bonnie prince charlie as he is wearing an ermin coat and he looks so young. It really is amazing what you can find.
Absolutely awesomely awesome gorgeous home. The dark green drapes look like they are out of the movie Gone With the Wind. Charlotte pulls the drapes down and has Mamie sew her a stunning gown so she can find Captain Butler. She needs something from him. Thank you for sharing. So happy I discovered your channel. xoxo roseingeorgia
