I’d have Walter Payton over Iron Mike. Both are apart of the “mount Rushmore” of the Bears. But when you think Chicago, you think Sweetness.

Either Sweetness or Butkus. Walter as he literally carried the team for most of his career. Butkus for the simple reason he freaking was the team during his time there a local kid that literally played for his hometown team.

He also did it throwing to Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, Faulk even had a 1,000 yards receiving that year to go with his 1,300+ yards on the ground, Warner was awful for a few years until he ended up in AZ throwing to Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin and has Edgeren James in the backfield, if they kept track of stats back when Deacon Jones played he would be by far the all time leader

THE most iconic player that ANY TRUE BEAR FAN will think of first IS Sweetness #34. Payton Was the Bears from the beginning to the end of his career. The guy missed 2 games during his entire career, both in his final season in '87. Leaving at that time as the all time rushing leader was no joke. Especially considering the awful teams that he was saddled with for the majority of his early years, yet he never whined, bitched, or threatened to hold out for any selfish reason and played every single snap on the field with max effort. Having been a 'Grabowski' fan for over 40 years, Walter Payton will ALWAYS be the first Chicago Bear that comes to mind when I look over the history of My beloved Bears.

I can understand why you say that. But to most Commanders fans, Sean Taylor is the first name that comes to their mind when you ask them who is the most iconic player in franchise history. Unfortunately part of that is because of his tragic passing. The other part of it is how brutal his tackling was and how he was one of the best upcoming cornerbacks in the league at the time. The way fans reacted to how poorly the statue that the organization had made in his honor just shows how much he still means to the fanbase. Before his passing, he was on his way to becoming the cornerstone of the franchise.

    • @qaletage
