This demonstrates ABSOLUTE top quality!! The ROLEX of fixed knives...love em!!
I use Extrema Ratio for work for a while...good video GN!
great great video, this is the demonstration of the quality of the Italian top brands, when you buy an Italian knife (or other products) from THIS kind of manufacturers you can stay sure that is going to last forever due to the care the people who work there are giving to the product, proud to come from Italy, the country of excellence...
That's hilarious considering these are shitty knives. If you want to spend this kind of money but a microtech. They actually make nice knives.
@@gordonbombay6627 and you never owned an ER knife, they arent shitty if they get issued to the army
I can just agree. They make make great high quality knives. I own 4 extrema ratio knives and all of them are flawless. They are really expensive too, but if you lay a KA-BAR knife beside, you know why. Not that KA-BAR make bad knives, but they don't reach the level of quality by far. The shape and symmetry is at ER perfect, the steel is great, the texture smooth and rugged ... have to say, perfect quality control, but you have to pay for it.
Most will shy away because of the price but if you're passionate about knives, you will value them. The way they expressed their creation, you'll know its not about businesses. It's about passion to produce the best for a reason. I've been to their factory in Prato and talked to them. Thanks.
Great video doc on the factory tour! I'm just about to do a series of field reviews on these great products from EXTREMA RATIO, thanks to Mr Chiostri and Co.
Originally the price point kept me away from extrema but seeing this video it makes more sense. Good value against the time, labour and expertise involved I will be getting a couple in the near future
If you do, will you use it or keep it in pristine condition? Aside from "playing around" with my Police EVO utility knife I keep it behind a glass case. -GN
Funker Tactical - Gun & Gear Videos Use it. I don't earn enough money to collect for just aesthetic value, what I invest in has to have a return I can appreciate now and an effective knife. Besides, scratches and resharpens are honest beauty. I can say this is a "hard use knife", the metal scars and missing coating prove it.
+tgillies101 and thats what they are made for obviously. Although I can understand a collection,if "money aint a thing"😀

It truly is a work of art. I've carried benchmade, microtech, zero tolerance, hinderer etc. all are junk compared to the extreme ratio MFO I'v carried for a month now, n690 steel is unbeatable. Keep up the great work
Well, I recently bought a Schrapnel geo-camo and liked it so much I ordered one for my son's birthday.I'm not the best fan of tactical knives, but Extrema Ratio oozes quality, is very strong and has that extra oomph italian design!
And let me say, these videos are amazing and very well made. Viva Italia!
There is only one word to describe the quality of this product: EXCEPTIONAL.
Easily worth $5,000,000 per knife. Italians can make a bubble gum wrapper and sell it for $20.00. Mad props #Italianpropaganda.
The Col Moschin and the Silente are just dream knives for me😍😍
Just did a video on the BF-3. Absolutely gorgeous knife.
Very hands-on process - perfect!
I just bought the Shrapnel :)
Very informative video Ryan!
They should mention this factory tour in travel guides for Italy, between eat pasta bolognese in Venice and visit Instructor Zero. I own two Extrema Ratio knives, a MK2.1 Desert Warfare and a Suppressor. Good knives. In France they're quite easy to find exept some models or special series. Not affordable knives but solid construction. They also comes with well made "holsters" ( I dont know if it's a suitable word for knives).
Some pics of the blades appears on my guns pics, for those who want to see check my google+ page.
For those interested by the models I own, I've got lot of detailed picture (macro style), let me know if you're interested to see more about these two models, I'll post 'em.
Outstanding blades...
Nothing can replace a good blade in combat!
damn it, fulcrum knife looks badass.
Orgoglio Italiano! siete dei grandi!
I really appreciate Your effort 👌
I would love to get one of their knives, they are awesome!
Very pleased by my new Shrapnel model
Loving the lone survivor support!!!
Yes please....Thank you !!😊😊
Oh oh oh! Zero!
Your steel's from Austria ?!?! Wow ... Didnt expect that
Quality knife makers like this guy, Stan Wilson or tuff thumbz (to name a few) have this humble and patient demeanor.. i think knives are a very powerful symbol, I mean the history is ancient, it's scary as shit and it will save your life. Damn good video!
Well done GN!
The Italians can really make a knife
Unlike Brits. I recently bought Fairbairn Sykes and MOD survival knife. Out of the box, edge on both was horrible. 1-1½" inches from tip, both have no edge and edge is far from symmetrical. I hand sharpened that survival knife into a decent edge, but dagger is beyond repair. Not enough material left to reprofile it.
I would be ashamed as hell to sell knives in this condition.
always good to buy from makers who back up what they build.
sorry to hear you got burned.
I'll stay away
Realy High level knife
I guess its good he's a hairy guy, he can perform quality control on every blade.
I bought the black Talon it's an awesome blade and design
Super video!
Awesome video.
best knife extrema ratio
wao really good quality good stuff good video . . .zero bro love u brothere .
HOLY SMOKE THEIR KNIVES LOOK SWEET!
A few years ago I bought the Black Talon knife and it's awesome they put a really sharp edge on it and just recently bought the extrema ratio T razor satin blade should be getting that in about a week, . The T razor on Amazon. CA Canadian cost me $306 the quality and they put a sharpness it can't be beat
Avoid buying high end knives in Canada on Amazon. So many counterfeits. Buy ER knives from authorized retailer of which there are only two in CA. Hope yours is real but yeah, big problem
@@oppenheim00 the interesting thing is that the authorized dealer of ER in Canada have a better price than all dealers I can find in USA and EU
you can visit the maxpedition factory or a factory which produced good tactical vests like Bulldog or something like that
You go, Austria. ;)
Of course Instractor Zero couldn't be missing from the Extrema Ratio.
st loved that guy
I had one up until recently, it's well designed, very rugged, however, their factory sharpening leaves a lot to be desired. I sharpen all my knives on a Tormek. I get polished, beyond crazy, scary sharp results. If I were producing this level of quality for their price, I would not omit that detail.
Its a hand ground convex edge
+Charles Snyder i hope one day people will unerstand why a lot of knife makers do not sharpen their knife like a razor...
what are you going to do with this knife? hunting? batoning? chopping? skinning? even if the purpose of this knife is mainly bushcrafting, nobody knows what YOU are going to do with it.
so, knowing this, what kind of edge is better for which task? a concave edge is better for removing meat from the skin of a prey, because it protects the edge itself by the bones.
a convex edge is better for cutting through wood.
do you use this knife as a big pack opener at work (there are people like that)? you don't need a razor sharp knife.
and so on.
Buying the steel in Austria at Voestalpine is a good thing, you don’t have to apologize for this.
Bravo Company USA.
Im a outdoors person and like we know knifes is the bushcrafter tool, and tools are made for an specific application that is why we have so many of them for cover different needs, same with knifes, the magic tool does not exist and the magic knife either. I have used a lot of knifes out there, and I mean a lot but I keep in my bugout bag 1 Morakiev for light use, 1 Benchmade bushcraft s30v for general craft and 2 Extrema Ratio (one Doberman IV for heavy use and one 39-09 Etiam if I need to protect myself ). Extrema Ratio is the real deal in this days. For serious purposes stay away from Chinese junk.
bellissimo!
thats awesome! i went to their web siteto check out the price and how to order, but just pictures??
This is the manufacturer's website. You need to go to the resellers section and find a reseller in your area.
What model of knife is this ( in the video)? I couldn't find it on the website
fulcrum
I heard the knife blade was based on the old CRKT KOMODO 7 Tonto knife blade
I AM CONVERTED - I BUY SOON :)
So GN did you pick me one up. Just send it to me in Texas hahahaha good video and super informative.
Yeah its on the way. -GN
In Finland most fixed blade ER's are 300€ or more. Some folders are between 150-200€. I do like knives in general, but this price point... Have to wait.
ORGOGLIO ITALIANO .......PECCATO NON RENDIATE I PRODOTTI PER I VOSTRI PAESANI PIÙ CONVENIENTI
BCM or SOG would be great!
Great knifes! I had a chinese knock off version. It is NOT the real deal. But the price point is to high(for now)Really Really Want one.
I notice you were not shaving with the ruined part of the edge
now where can you buy?
extrema ratio web site
Italia ❤️
what type of steel is that they import from austria?
Böhler N690 stainless steel from Austria.
Imil Delorosa
www.jagdmesser-taschenmesser.com/Boehler-Messerstahl/N690/
i am so getting the kh and ks, need to save up first, and ill take a stainless blade over a high carbon if its the same hardness any day. also the cold steel gurka kukri has a bad handle. heard too many wobbles and rattles on that knife. ERs kukri though looks badass
what's the handle made of?
Forprene
in che città si trova questa fabbrica in italia?
(question for ZERO)
Arezzo
Why don't you visit the ontario or SOG factories... For the affordables prices...
SOG is crap, was good 25 years ago.
Yepp, sog was good now more or less chinacrap..
Cari Amici e amiche , la ditta Estrema Ratio è un
vanto nel settore , con la
sua semi-artigianalità propone un coltello di cuore e non un attrezzo .

I love extrema ratio knives but I wish they used a little higher quality steel. Like m390 or k390 and vanadis 4E. It appears a lot of American knife Enthusiast that's their only complaint about extrema ratio is the quality of Steel versus price point
Extrema Ratio, the Mercedes of knives.
Not a car guy, is it good or bad?
0:34 they way how he‘s Holding the measuring stick is not correct. Mauro is only the Manager. Nevertheless Extrema Ratio is one of the best manufactorer in the World!
How much do they cost?
A lot. -GN
Ranging from 250 to 750$...
I want one
The music sounds like the last of us......
Humanity.... is there any hope?
NO,there is not sadly
William Claypoole not with people like you in existence.
Again, so gorgeous, but sooo expensive.
Quality is expensive.
I currently own 2 item from this company. I have a heavy duty folder and a bush knife. Yes they are expensive ( around $500 australian ) but you sure get what you pay for. Quality.
Sir, #ColdSteel Sir
Thanks

AUS-8 Steel (Cold Steel's go-to steel)isn't as durable, and can hold an edge like an Extrema Ratio. Lately as of 2015, they started using CTS-XHP steel which is very good, but the custom/ Midtech feel of an Extrema Ratio knife is superior than that of Cold Steel. Just saying, because ER is a Mid-tech rather than production
Gatorade and Rice Cold Steel uses different steel as well Mr. Rice. Cold Steels knives are the most durable knife I have ever seen and used. I wonder how well these knives would do in a Cold Steel Torture Test.
--CMC
***** Durability is good, i agree with you, however the Hand made quality from Extrema Ratio is more appreciative than a CS. CS isn't handmade but Hand assembled, and machined parts. E.R is hand grinded, and custom fitted for sheaths, grips etc. Not arguing but stating a point from my side :)
Agreed, but with that being. The proof is in the pudding. Lets see some tests. T

Cold Steel is in the same league as Bud K, go back to the little leagues field kiddo. Extrema Ratio is for the big boys.
Ill be honest. I think there are products that are just as high in quality for less money,
Like what? I think Tops knives are the American equal. Tops prefer 1095 HC steel which is cheaper and not stainless but will hold an edge nearly just as long while being tougher but they are similar in that they both lean towards the military type , appear to produce their blade shapes in a similar fashion and like to use .25" stock. Bark River would be closer in price, use A2 but offer even better steels. A2 is a tool steel used alot in wood working that holds an edge longer than 1095 and is as tough and easy to sharpen. Have a vast selection of custom scales plus they convex grind their knives which I think is an advantage.
Despite this, I will be purchasing an Extrema Ratio because they have a product unlike anything else really style wise. They look sexy...Italian. They are high quality and use quality materials although I would like to see a powder metallurgy steel at these prices in todays market.
Spoke too soon, lol. Iended up buying an Extrema Ratio Shrapnel FH.
What can I say, their product is unlike anything on the market design wise and its really a complete package with their awesome sheath systems.
I think their pricing is a bit high in the North American market, they have lots of tough competition. I get the impression the vast majority of sales is European judgeing by reviews.
However, I just could not live without the awesome design and quility of this Italian maker so props, you have a happy customer.
👍👍💙😄👌
$500 for a knife and hard as hell it find a place in the world that sells them.
They're in demand and are hard to come by at times.
if you live in the USA. This is the place to buy.www.xtremeknives.com/
amazon . com
Why are your knives so expensive? Why is FKMD and FOX that uses the same steel as you N690 so much less??? I want to purchase your knives but the costs are prohibitive.... I can guarantee that a FKMD or fox with the same steel N690 will perform the same if not better.
Website not good
Looking to buy one of your knives soon. After seeing this video it justifies the price and mostly after seeing videos of the abuse they can take

Can you speak spanish in your video?
N690 sucks!
I'm italian: all can i say is that his english is laughable like most of the english spoken by the CEO's of many big industrial group or italian politicians. The average knowledge of english language among italian population is simply ridicolous. That's a shame, plain and simple.
Bravo, sono d'accordo. e non penso che il uomo, Nicoraba sa molto soppra il nivello de la gente che solo parla inglese. Loro sono la gente stupida non il CEO
Nicoraba have you ever heard a Japanese, a Chinese, a Korean, a French or a Spanish speaking English? For certain people is harder than it is for others just because of their native language's construction. What is there to be ashamed?? Did you understand what that guy had to say? Good, that's all that really matters, cause his job is making knives. Is your job better than his? Stupid piece of smartass shit.
Nicoraba between his accent or the prices dont know what is more laughable
Nicoraba Have you heard a native Polish speaker attempt to utter a phrase in the English language? I have been very fortunate to have good education and learn the language at a young age, sadly most don't have the same benefits and their English is, as you said, laughable. On topic of the video, the knives are outstanding and I am a proud owner of a large part of their catalogue!
Is this a video about knives or about english skills? probably he spent more time in his life to learn how to produce HQ blades than on english lessons, where is the problem? Sorry (not so much) to say but sound just like envy of his achievements. Saluti da Venezia.
There's no difference between these knives and a Tops knife. They both are manufactured very similarly but one has a exotic Italian name so it automatically sells for twice the amount.
Do you know what steel TOPS knives are made from?
Do you know what steel Extrema Ratio knives are made from?
There is your difference.
Dumb ass.
There is a big difference between a majority stock of 1095 product and the she of Bohler N690Co.
+baddinner Fuck off dipshit cold steel fanboy. Think 1095 is more expensive than N690? We aren't even comparing N690 prices with s30v and vg10 the original post was a comparison with TOPS which primarily uses 1095.
+Voyager24 Seeker
quarter inch thick Böhler n690
yeah, you can get that for a penny at your local hunting shop
+Voyager24 Seeker ....yeah I know that 1095 if properly treated can hold up as good as any steel in this particular segment of knives. Is 1095 the best steel for all segments of knives, absolutely not. Just because Italians make fine leather products and high end sports cars doesn't mean they make every product superior. Case in point this particular knife. Is it a great knife? Sure, but would you honestly pay that much more money for a tool that you're going to abuse? That's outright insanity.
Trash brand
and their blades are definitely overpriced!
by far the most ugly knives in the world !
