It shows. You can always usually tell when an actor doesn't even believe in something they're starring in, because they make no effort. I can't suspend my disbelief for even a minute if I were to watch this on my own, because none of them are engaged in their own roles/characters.

It’s why the sequels were directed by her husband and the new screenwriter barely changed any dialogue and plot structure from the original books. When I watched this series, I was already expecting bullshit. But ngl, it was better than how bad I imagined it to be. The fact that Christian was actually changing and improving for his love was depicted very realistically, considering all his weaknesses as well. So yeah, just my opinion that some aspects of it were good, it's shit nonetheless.

i re-watched all the movies and the first one is by far the best. i think its more interesting and the acting is not AS cringey as the after hardin series movies. the acting is more just silly.funny to me than "horrible." idk, and the first movies ending where she breaks it off w him kinda made me wanna watch the second one. the third movie is kinda boring but the first and second the aspect i like is when they talk about Christians dark past and the characters involved in that are interesting.
Tbh it would have been better had she left him. That whole "I can change him" trope is exhausting. The blatant abuse (beyond consensual BDSM, obviously) is unbearable.
