Lol I've done these exams. The whole point is to take someone out of their comfort zone. It's part of the test. Everyone thinks it's just squiggly lines.
When he follows up with "You're confident about that answer, are you sure?" Her response is "that's what I believe."
He does not believe she is lying. That's not the point. He wants to see what her response is, which is genuine.
People think lie detector tests are just machines that tell if you are lying. That is a small part. You're looking for deception but even that is flawed. The interpretation of "no deception" is also a potential limitation, since it may indicate lack of knowledge rather than innocence. Example: Have you ever stolen anything? You might have as a child and not remember. You might remember stealing something as a child but as an adult you've never stolen anything..
Especially when the woman gave her attitude and said "your going to be fine"
