    Honestly wasn’t sure how this was gonna look up on the ceiling; I’m pleasantly surprised at how well it actually does go w/ style of house. Looks amazing already, & with the rest of kitchen complete.....gonna be GORGEOUS 👍🏻

    I would advise anyone hanging a ceiling on furring strips to screw them to the ceiling.

    • @micahmye

      Madcap Laughs I was speaking generally; I do see now that he was using 3/8 pine wainscoting, didn’t notice that before. Good catch!
      I still would hang the furring with screws; way more holding power. Strong enough to hold another ceiling under the wainscoting

    I watched this again and had to comment on your smooth, "pick up nail gun.. apply a backwards half spin and catch" movement. Very smooth and effective!
    RE: Comments on screws vrs nails on the 1x strips.. With the construction adhesive and 12-15 of the 16g nails, it's not coming down. Lastly, that appears to be a plaster ceiling so using screws... good luck.

    try using perform for your arches,its a ply wood about 3/8 thick you can buy in 4x8 sheets like drywall but once its curved and nailed or screwed its much stronger,you can make a 180 degrees turn with it its flexible and inexpensive you can find it at some basic lumberyards.you just finish it with two coats of taping mud or even sheetrock 45

    Just curious.... in most of this new kitchen remodel, it would seem as if you have focused on one section at a time. Does that particular section consist of an entire day of work or is that part of a day and you just continue on to the next step and show it on the next video. In short do you really take that much amount of time (a full day) to complete each section, if so what is an allotted time frame for this entire project?

    Kinda strange how all those boards twisted on you. When I did my wall, I had zero problems. Once the first one was dead on, it went up smooth as butter. Only difference was I stained it after I put it up. Maybe that is the cause of the warpage? The ceiling does look pretty awesome though. Nice work.

  • @jakes.1199
    @jakes.1199 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    tongue and groove doesn't have to end on nailers. Well........ maybe that 1/4 inch crap. but the tongue and groove holds the material straight so you don't have to trim the boards so they end on a nailer. Just slap them up there. They Can't move. I say this from experience, never had a problem.

  • @screaminpotato
    @screaminpotato 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve worked with a lot of T&G pine. I can’t stand the 1/4 stuff you’re working with. I prefer to use a backer like OSB and glue and nail to give it stiffness. I much prefer the larger 5/8ths pine. A little more finicky to get some board into place but lots of meat on the bone.
    If I were you I would have ran the material a few inches longer so you’re not messing with butting up perfectly to the cabinets.

    • @KenHill
      @KenHill 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say the same thing about running it long, but knowing the Handyman I'm guessing he has a reason. Besides, If you were running it just up to the cabinets, wouldn't you wait to do the ceiling until after the cabinets were put in? More Will be revealed I hope.
