- If you about to found a city on a tiny flat island in the ocean, you need to be realistic. It wouldn't be a mighty fortress, it can be attacked from all sides, and storms will be your regular visitors. But when all around is only a lifeless desert, there is no such thing as a choice. And so you in among 17 other adventurers with only your fleet by your side. Many will rise and drown with the bloody smile trying to do the impossible. But only one can go through the storm and get back alive.
I used the latest version of Civilization VI: Gathering Storm with all other DLC & Expansion Packs for this battle.

Only because Indonesia opened their lines and let the Norwegians in.

honestly is such a random game, Norway was lucky and used oportunities when enemies were weakened to seize victory:p

If portugal used the viking war with indonesia like vikings did with sweden in the and they would have won easily
Its all about who manage to keep his army alive and strike to kill at the right time really

Portugal was a tough nut to crack, holding their own against the mightiest armadas, but in the end the Viking War Machine was simply too powerful.
Love these videos, they always seem to tell stories through their gameplay.
Not just the viking war machines. Every time they tried to launch and offensive, their ships were wiped by yet another hurricane
2:30 Norway almost got wiped out by an America-Indonesia joint war. Then Portugal went on a blitzkrieg and slaughtered America.

3:40 Portugal is being overwhelmed by Sweden but Norway, instead of stabbing the doomed Portugal on the back, declared war on Sweden and together they eliminated Sweden.
If they didn't have to kill each other in the end it would be the best bromance I've ever watched
That is an incredible comeback!
Two front war. Fleet was almost entirely smashed. Two-front pincer war. Amsterdam has fallen. Capital down to half life. And yet somehow they survived, came back, and even ultimately won! Was it a timely unique unit? I can't tell from knowledge of the game. It looks like some new unit came out last minute, smash the invasion, then continue to smash entire fleets until they were safe to recover.
No there unique comes it way earlier. I think they were just able to exploit the fact that much of their neighbors navies were destroyed
Vikings are smart. They wait until their cousins and Portugal's navy are out. And they destroy their cousins.

it was funny seeing all the ships scurry around like little ants and then suddenly London/Lisbon just STOPS 2:08 because they have no more space.
the reason most other civs lost is cuz they weren't closer to bermuda which gives a gigantic science of 10 per worked tile
I feel like I just watched the AI have that, 'I'll help you but I want to at least come in second' agreement. Vikings looked like they were almost dead until portugal saved them
And even the final 3 it was all about the first 2 to go to war and drain each other and the third one took them by surprise

Surprised that the civs with unique ranged ships go down fairly quick though. Thought Byzantine or Indonesia would dominate at one point.
Bermuda has some pretty insane science yields. Not sure how fair this match actually is because of that. Civs next to it have a massive advantage
Do the center civs not have the advantage each tile of the Bermuda Triangle has like 10 science and then adjacent tiles get like 5?
Portugal played so badly and STILL managed to stay up until the end... that's how op they're in naval combat. Granted, Norway is also one of the best naval civs.

This was the longest I’ve ever seen the AI at peace. Then everything changed when the Norwegians attacked.

Really nice video! My Idea for the next fight would be be to maybe show how much military power the civs have or how far they advanced in the tech tree (if that's possible).I just think that would be cool :)

These are great. Could you turn on the info ribbons so that we can see every players science? Makes it easier to pinpoint who is doing well.

I wonder why nobody built sea wonders. Like after the Norwegians took Majaphit, nobody could ever take it from them. I would have built the Great Lighthouse and maybe the Venetian Arsenal in Majapahit and would train naval units in every other city.
How exactly are you gonna build venetian arsenal in this map?
im surprised at how the cities grab bermuda tiles first. I thought they need to grab the nearest tile first before the farther ones
There is a priority system, your borders grow towards more valuable tiles and I'm pretty sure natural wonders have the highest priority, like I have had a city refuse to grow to the productive stone tile because it wanted more adjacent wonder tiles(which had no production) which made that city garbage for a whle
