    Can you show us sometime your actual sewing machine and technique? I've never seen such even tiny stiches. My sewing machine seems to hate working with paper. I get uneven stitches and the bumps on the back are so off-putting, I've basically given up. Does anyone else have these issues? Again...just blown away by how gorgeous this book is! Your eye for detail is amazing!!

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had that issue initially, even though I have a good machine (thank you to my momma for her cast offs!) I had to play with the tension to find what worked best for paper. On my machine it's a dial-type knob with numbers on it, but I've seen other styles on different machines. 4-6 is fairly standard for fabric (cotton, etc), but I dial mine down to a two for paper, and a 1 1/2 for vellum or tracing paper. That has eliminated the too loose stitches and the bumps on the back. I would highly encourage you to get a piece of cardstock and sew a thinner piece to the front, using different tension numbers for each column, to see which works best for you. A new needle helps too, at least initially. I tend to leave my needles on too long before replacing them :)

    • @jamiemueller1881
      @jamiemueller1881 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoriDahmen Wow; thanks so much for such detailed help; so going down the dial helps. I tried this a few months ago, but it's Murphy's Law that whenever I'm actually sewing something I like it goes wonky.

    So enjoying your videos, been trying to keep along with you making a scrap journal. I am slow going. My question is what kind of paper do you start with to get great scraps.

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Janice and gosh. I use copy paper that has been coffee dyed, piano roll, Tim Holtz paper and kraft cardstock most often. Book page, sheet music and ledger paper are also favorites. I rarely use digitals, but those are fabulous too. But, I do tend to make thick pages and projects.

  • @linda9731

    I am a newbie with a question. Where do you buy those small glue bottles with needle dispenser. I like the way you can control a scant line of glue with that type of glue applicator. Also what size is the glue dispenser? Are they easy enough to refill?

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Linda! I get those little bottles from Amazon, though a good quality craft store should carry them as well. I think Darice is the manufacturer, though I'm sure there are other brands as well. I've not tried the Barely There glue, but find that Art Glitter Glue is just a bit thick and clogs in that fine tip easily. I've had good luck using Reptile glue in it and I just hold the tip of the bottle up and about an inch away from the top of the little bottle when filling it, allowing the glue to drip inside. The filling goes pretty quickly.
