they can't keep getting away with this
and by this i mean getting me excited for the next AC game 😤😤
Hell yeah! This has been my dream setting, so I'm eager to here more and judging from what they've said in interviews around the trailer I'm very intrigued to see gameplay!
If it's good I'll definitely check it out, the combat in recent games has never been my preference but I'll play any game with Japanese settings! Yasuke and Naoe both seem super cool, I wonder what Ubi will do with their characters.
To be honest there was barely any stealth in the trailer even with shinobi, the game could be good but almost no stealth in an ac trailer is EHHHHH
@@GABATTLES its a cinematic trailer bro, just wait for the gameplay 😭
Stop jayvee, you know that's all lies, the weather and lighting look interesting in the paper, but it'll not work as they say, probably gonna be more of a gimmick, you can already see that they lost dev time on Yasuke instead of flashing out the stealth system or the other character, just to appeal to a larger audience, who knows what more they sacrifice
@@YousefMohamedAbdulMoniem still a *trailer* with barley any stealth for a franchise based on stealth
I have to correct you about Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost of Tsushima didn't use or try to use the entire island of Japan.
The entire map in Ghost of Tsushima is the island named Tsushima, which is on the outskirt of Japan.
With the game later getting Iki island for the expansion, which is another island that lies closer to the mainland.
AC Shadows on the other hand actually uses a big chunk of the mainland, which will provide a different kind of experience and exploration compared to Ghost of Tsushima.
whoops, thanks for the correction!
@@jayveeeee
No problem. I agree with most of your positives and negatives about Shadows. Only differing opinion is regarding having 2 protagonists.
I would personally prefer to have just 1, Naoe specifically and have Yasuke as an important companion, that the game would let you play as shortly for a few missions.
Kinda like Origins did with Bayek and Aya. I just feel like trying to have 2 protagonists comes as the expense of fully fleshing them out both story & gameplay wise.
@@Optimus_Bull Yeah it depends on how they are implemented. Best case scenario in my opinion is if you can beat It with zero to minimal use of the other character. Naoe for the people who want to do a ghost play though, which is imagine would be a bit easier. And Yasuke for the people who want to do a no stealth play through(psychos), which would be a bit harder.
from what ive heard shadows map is about as big as origins
do u honestly think it will feel different because of mainland or whatever, do u know ubisoft at all🤣
It would be nice if this game had fully motion captured cutscenes like all AC games pre Odyssey. The stiff animations of the newer games really take me out of the story. Idk for me it's a huge issue.
oh it's a big issue for me too. waiting to see what they do on that front. going back to Black Flag this year reminded me how much better the story is with scripted, hand-animated cutscenes
It's easy to forget how much of an impact this makes for me but it really is a deal breaker.
The animations in the trailer are actual combat animations
Definitely especially with sidequests, it's always the same face to face talking animation with the NPC copied throughout, really brings you out of it
Origins was the last one to have motion captured cutscenes in all the main story missions, and it was definitely a factor on why it’s story is one of the best in series.
the recent games have been historical period games with assassin's but what we want is assassins games in a historical period
The pollen growing grass and plants reminds me of all the false promises of Fable. Acorn growing into trees. Yea ok. I will believe it when I see it. I just want good stealth systems and story, hopefully they can deliver!
Current gen I totally believe it's possible. And with a juiced up Anvil engine, it will totally be able to handle it, and I don't see any reason why it won't. Tall grass in spring, and it's died off in the later months? Easily programmed in
It kinda seemed like they were just saying there would be pollen as a seasonal particle effect vs a world simulation system. Would be cool if it affected enemies with sneezing or something but that might not even be fun 🤷♂️
Im not even gonna get hyped, ill just wait for it to go on a discount
Im going to wait til it's free

"CGI cinematics" looks too good to be true? It's Ubisoft, nuff said, same crap as before.
Cry baby
If it was "same crap as before" then wouldn't the cinematic trailer be Valhalla again? Since you all think "all Ubisoft games look the same" yeah. Okay.

Ghost of Tsushima focused on the island of TSUSHIMA alone, which is one of the small islands outside Mainland Japan (it's in the name.)
Mainland Japan itself is absolutely massive, so it'd be ridiculous to have all of it in any game lol.
yup, i completely missed on that.
They had the whole of Greece in Odyssey, not surprising for Ubisoft
10:33 no ghost of tsushima, is on tsushima, an island close to the shore of japan... Thats like a huge plot point, as to how the Khan were able to seize it so easily
I haven't even played that game (yet), and even I thought it was weird he said that.
you were hyped for redfall too
ouch, that's true
Shame arcades gone, I loved the dishonoured series and deathloop
He'll be hyped for anything that'll make him money.
Honestly, Ghost of Tsushima definitely felt like AC Japan, not sure how Ubisoft can compete with Sucker Punch considering how mediocre the AC games have been for the past decade.
Mirage was a step in the right direction but it still paled in comparison to Unity in terms of production value, animations, cutscenes, environmental detail, gameplay variety, crowd density, character models, etc.
Kind of insane how far AC has fallen.
Absolutely. Especially in terms of engaging writting, too. These stories haven't been consistently great, since 4. There's been a few exceptions, but that's it. This new game needs to be a w in all aspects.
I'll say it. That's a bad comparison. GOT is phenomenal. But it's a samurai game. It's stealth is absolutely garbage. It's too damn easy and bare bones. Unity had a more fleshed out stealth system and even more tools than GoT has for its stealth. Just cause you can crouch doesn't make it AC in Japan
@@lilam7851nah I think origins was the best story easily and odyssey’s was pretty good too not saying they are better written than 4 but still really good but that’s my opinion so take it with a grain of salt
It alr sounds better than ghost. Splinter cell stealth mechanics, new animations for parkour, the choreography in the trailer is actual in game animations, dynamic weather that affects gameplay, proning, the characters sound great, etc
@@muffinman7479 no, I totally agree with you on origins. Easily the most interesting main two characters in Bayek and Aya.
As someone who loved Odyssey, I'm mostly positive on this one but I'm most concerned that they said you can switch the character at any time. I'm wondering what this could mean for the storytelling.
This is the video on AC Shadows i was expecting all day, love when you talk about AC games!
From what I understand, the female character plays more like mirage where as the male character plays more like valhalla

"Dynamic weather" and "lighting systems" are pretty vague if not meant to be taken at face value. If they are, those are just pretty standard things in open world games. Those arent anything to get excited about unless they drastically impact gameplay in a meaningful way.
yep i'd agree
They do actually. In winter the ponds will be frozen, so no stealth swimming, also there will be ice cracking on rooftops so the guards will hear us In winter they will stay near warm places and we wont be able to prone
It affects gameplay
Dynamic weather is not vague Yk exactly what they mean you’re just playing dumb and the lighting system is based on splinter cell and they’ve explained the light system with some details so. If you watched the breakdown video they explain a lot of this stuff and how it impacts gameplay

There are rumours about a Parkour revamp. And there is indeed a Japanese brotherhood.
A new engine too. Anvilpipeline
Hopefully its similar to origin, that was the last assassin creed I loved(I haven't played mirage).
Bruh, they have fired all the good animators which went to Sony to make Last of us 2 and Uncharted 4 animations. Why did they do it? They wanted to make some cuts! They've bragged in 2018 that they have created a system to automate all cutscenes instead of making them by hand. Which allowed them to make those overbloated worlds. So no, they never strived for a realism with uncanny jerky movement)
Ubisoft had four years to learn stealth gameplay from Ghost of Tsushima. If they drop the ball this time it's the end.
Stealth in ac is way better then ghost of Tsushima
@@jojocasimir1118 depends, ac valhalla barely had any stealth
As a Japanese history fan,I am more interested in how they tell the story and portray the historical figure rather than its gameplays.
Likely very poorly
Well you know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. I fell off the Assasins Creed bandwagon years ago. The last one I played was Origins, which was good in my opinion. I just feel like the series is played out. I wish that they had made an AC game set in Japan 10 years ago, back when I might have still been interested. Also, there is just too much crap coming out these days and I've become far more picky about the games I buy, and never do pre-orders. Especially when they give you a cinematic trailer alongside a 130 dollar price tag. Even if you are still a hardcore fan of Ubisoft games, you have to admit, that is rediculous.
No lol my shoes cost more then 130 so it ain’t really a problem for me an my jeans alone cost bout 130-150 an just buying shirts it be 50-80 so my guess is that u either broke or don’t have a good paying job but at the end of the day I don’t go around buying every 130 game just the ones I want I spent 70 dollars on rise of the ronin an Star Wars outlaws the same day ur what 30 or 40 an im 23 an ur telling me u don’t have 130 just floating in ur bank account but that’s u

I was really hype when I saw that trailer, only to find out everyone is complaining about SOMETHING AGAIN. Leave it to the internet to ruin the mood.
But then again, I liked Odyssey and all the other games. Haven't played Valhalla yet tho.
Edit: EAGLE VISION IS COMING BACK?? YEEEEES.
Indeed it is! And you no longer have an Eagle for birds eye view. You have to do your own reconnaissance
How do people get excited about cgi trailers? Even the League of Legends trailers look awesome. That tells you nothing about the game.
It would be cool if we had dialogue options only in sidequests that dont have any connection to the main story
I just want interesting Side Quests in this game. I wont say that Ubisoft can't make great side quests but I shouldn't have to do 5 bad ones to get one good one. I want a reason to explore and do side things instead of wanting to just speed run the story.
I think the pollen thing is just an aesthetic thing, like the winds in summer will show puffs of pollen in them, while in winter it will be snow blowing about
I have an obsession with shinobi. So this game is a dream come true. I just picture there being dimly lit streets, the moon casting strange shadows on the walls, and the guards freaking out as Naoe dashes across the rooftops of feudal Japan after killing one of the emperors. That would be the perfect shinobi fantasy imo.
Don't do that...don't, give me hope
The CGI looked awesome, but its ubisoft they're really good at that so wasn't surprised, Im lowkey hyped anyways tbh
Maybe I'm just weird, but I find any story, real or fictional, about someone adopting a culture that isn't their own interesting. Now, in terms of the gameplay, I'm not all that excited because they lied about going back to their roots in Mirage. I'm more interested in just being able to explore Japan. The sights are going to be amazing.
It depends how you see roots in mirage for a doodoo budget and forced to use valhallas engine I think it was really good and honestly they brought back the only think people wanted from the old combat system counter kills.
@@muffinman7479 Yeah I'm mostly talking about the ability to teleport and assassinate people. Unless I'm mistaken and that's not actually in the game.
@@Cimo8 that’s true enough frankly I never had a problem with it in mirage but I do 100% understand it took a lot of people out of the immersion and it would be nice to see tools return in a more fleshed out way instead of tping all over the place

I wonder what the modern day storyline is going to be like, assuming there is one. There were leaks/rumors that it is going to be entirely rebooted, being set in late 22nd century on a space station, with entirely new characters entering a far more advanced animus machine
at this point i’m checked out for it. they treat it like an afterthought, by the time i saw the modern day ending for valhalla i was already annoyed by how long the game was. if they want us to care about it it needs to be front and center like it used to. but like i said, i’m not placing that expectation on this game

I mean like $70 for standard edition and up to $130 for the ultimate edition of the game to force people to subscribe to their game pass for $18 a month just feels very greedy and scummy.
Here in Canada it’s $90 for the base game and $170 for the Ultimate. That’s before sales tax.
I feel like based on screenshots it'll have a similar aesthetic to the RPG games, I mean it's visuals and art direction, with maybe a bit better lighting and better draw distances and assets. Without that big a generational gap, like with AC3 or unity
I love this channel it’s probably my inspiration for starting my channel on a new route and more things to look forward to also Jayvee is the reason I began to appreciate the games we have more because there is things we can take away from the game that gave us that feeling of wanting to be an absolute badass character arcs and character development a lot like ezio by the time revelations was here ezio was already a mentor and master assassin and he could easily defeat Templars I hope to see something similar in shadows in terms of learn from your mistakes and be the thing you want to be (which a badass assassin) I’m sure most of us can agree jayvee has brought a sense of love back for these kinds of games I’ve always loved them but maybe I didn’t appreciate them as much as I could have and his channel does a good job of that

its a ubisoft game avatar was too good to be true, and turned out exactly as i thought it would
I’m of the same mind. Everything they’re saying is music to my ears, but I need to see to believe. We’ll find out next month…
If they did what they did in origins where the targets you go after are influenced by the level cap how close they are to the player almost like the game is recommending you to do it in such order then I’ll be happy
I know this is just a though but this feels like if ubisoft took what Ghost of Tsushima did with Jin where you can play Honorable as a Samurai. Also, Play as an Assassin and go straight stealth mode. Just instead of having 1 protagonist they gave us 2. Each having their own abilities that Jin had alone. Am all for it👍
Being someone that lives in Japan and and has a massive interest in the history of Japan, I and many others here don’t care if Ubisoft uses Yasuke as a main character for Shadows. I am more interested in Ubisoft’s take on historical events that took place like the Tenshou Iga war and Honnoji incident while Yasuke was serving Oda. I am sure it’s not going to happen, as it does not fit the right time line, but playing other events like the Enryakuji massacre, battle of Anegawa and the siege of Odani castle, etc. would be cool as well. I already preorder the collectors edition for ps5 and will get the ultimate edition for PC.
Not even 10 seconds in and I feel the cope.
I REALLY REALLY think that AC Series needs a break
Hopefully a permanent one. So over AC
Ubisoft should go bankrupt.
Hard to get excited with any triple A game when most have been overpromising and under-delivering. This is still the same company that called Skull and Bones a quadruple A game.

I'm so nervous. It looks so good and I really enjoyed Mirage, but I actually dropped odyssey (which is a thing I don't usually do because I hyperfixate on things and I love binging things for as long as there is content) because I was so frustrated with the level scaling. I was too scared to even touch Valhalla. I love the stories and concepts of AC so I really hope they'll get back to focusing on writing and less of the grind, or at least give us the option to use level scaling or not since I know not everyone feels the same about that lol
Mostly sounds good in my opinion. The concerning thing for me is the non linear story as you mentioned. In Valhalla it felt like the whole game was just a bunch of side missions except in the beginning and the end... Hope that won't be the case here.

This game's a bit of a monkey's paw for me as it's an Assassin's Creed game set in Japan, but it's an RPG game inheriting game design I fundamentally disagree with and resent, and my ideal era would have been the Meiji Restoration.
It's a period that's perfect for Assassins vs Templars (as if Commodore Perry isn’t the most Templar-pilled bastard ever) that would have afforded dense cities with complex social structures to have to navigate, which could have been an opportunity to expand on Liberation's idea of personas. Court politics, foreign influences vying for control, cultural shock and confusion as Japan very suddenly finds itself on an international, increasingly industrial world stage. It has everything.
But I get they design these games with "X Fantasy" in mind foremost, and this time around, they wanted "samurai" and "shinobi," both of which were antiquated by the end of the Edo Period. Yasuke is a fun inclusion, though I'm just never going to play as a combat-focused character in an AC game. I know at this point the series simply has different priorities than me about what these games should be (how about an ASSASSIN FANTASY??) but these games aren't really for me anymore anyway.
I'll check it out, but my expectations are very low. It just strikes me as a wasted opportunity. Curious what Darby's project will shape up to be.
Why don’t u go make it urself since u have great ideas

Tbh… being a PlayStation user has spoiled me, because back in the day this is all I wanted from Ubisoft but after Ghost of Tsushima I have absolutely no desire play this for once.. because let’s be real their trailers always look good but we all know we’re going to be let down by Ubisoft yet again. Whole series needs to be
(and I know GOT wasn’t perfect, I won’t sit here and pretend it was), but I can guarantee based on what we’ve gotten in past AC games, GOT will still have better combat and better visuals, only thing this new AC game might be better at will maybe (big maybe) be stealth, because GOT didn’t have great stealth at all)
Ac parkour is better then ghost even Valhalla top it
@@jojocasimir1118
Ghost parkour sucked but it dominated over AC and the stuff that actually matters. Story, combat, visuals. Only thing Ubisoft won was parkour and even then it wasn’t great. AC parkour peaked at Unity
I agree it looks good in terms of the features we've heard from articles and what this trailer hopefully honestly shows off. I know it's gonna be a huge stunner visually. I also know that everyone says that Ghost of Tsushima is the true assassin's creed game and i know that Tsushima has more realistic gameplay and was more skill based in terms of combat but I really think that assassin's creed is my favorite out of the two. I think the side missions are a bit better, the world has a bit more going on, the stealth is way better than the ac lite style of tsushima, and there is just more overall content in assassins creed. Tsushima just ended up feeling like sort of monotone dialogue, blowing foliage, and following foxes over and over. It was honestly just like any Ubisoft game there was but with 80% of activites feeling like they're made to make me sleepy
Honestly from a guy who beat ghost twice an been with ac since I was 10 the main thing ghost got going for it is the combat and graphics other then that the world don’t feel alive how origin and odyssey felt plus u can’t even parkour which had me mad my whole play through it’s a good game but if ac had its combat an syndicate parkour nobody will be talking bout ghost honestly I think shadows might rival ghost or be better the same team that made odyssey is making shadows if they learnt from odyssey shadows is probably gone be the best ac game cause odyssey got nominated in the 2018 game award being compared to rdr2 and God of war Ragnarok two big franchises that odyssey was being compared to so I got faith in Quebec not Ubisoft
@@jojocasimir1118 agreed
AC Shadows has spectacular graphics
For me, I’m just a little confused, and it’s because the trailer itself looks pretty cool and interesting, my only issue is that it looks a lot like Ghost Of Tsushima rather than Assassin’s Creed, and I didn’t feel more hyped with this reveal, after I got more hyped with AC Mirage because that game gave me the vibe of the older games, with the hidden blade, the assassin Templar conflict, etc but still I’m very curious with AC Shadows
Yea I got that same feeling to but I thought the trailer was pretty dope but gameplay either gone make it or break it
don't forget you don't own their games you're just renting it.
Shut up…
That's every game these days
Stop crying about the crew man! The reason they removed it was due to licensing cars. and why renew it when they have the crew 2 and motorfest to pay?
@@sumireravenclaw8034 Still doesn’t excuse it. You bought it, you keep it. Unless you get banned, sure. People could work on custom servers to revive the game, but nope.
@@sumireravenclaw8034Crying, no just stating a fact.
If you can't pay for the licensing there's always ways around it to make it more cost effective, look at what GTA and COD did for instance and if you're done supporting the game allow the community to do custom servers and enjoy the game they bought.
