    If you open up the small batteries, you will find smaller batteries which you can use to power a pocket device such as a phone. And if you open up the smaller batteries, you will find tiny batteries which you can use to power a wrist watch, and if you open the tiny batteries, you will find nano batteries which you can use to power your hearing aid, and if you open the nano batteries, you will find God who powers everything in the universe.

    Fail.
    1. Nobody keeps spare 6 volt lantern batteries, they are expensive.
    2. Your hack only powers the 4.5 volt flashlight at 3 volts, so it will be markedly dimmer. If it's LED, there's a possibility it might not light at all, depending on the driver used for the LED (if any).

      This is more in line with emergency everythings fucked situations. Where you raiding and carying supplies.
      The whole point of more than half his videos is "Macguyver style" Using what you may have at the time.
      This would be better than no light in a sitution where you have them. Ideally you have actual supplies. but something is as always better than nothing

    • @AlbertaGeek

      Rhiannon and Ray Again the implication of videos such are these are "worst case scenarios" it's middle of a cloudy night. or you have to be inside due to weather or danger conditions.
      The whole point of videos such as these aer for ideas for emergency situations where normal things are unavailable.
      If you simply think you won't be involved in such a situation I tend to wonder why you would watch such avideo.

    I like the batteries inside that 6V lantern battery. The only thing is, your flashlight will be operating at only 3V, instead of 4.5V. The light output will be less, but if you have a 2.7V(2 cell) bulb laying around to swap out the 3 cell bulb, then the light output will be the same. :-)

    Those internal lantern batteries are 1.5 volt each (6 volt / 4 batteries in series) The original d cells are also 1.5 volt each. With original 3 d-cells in series voltage to flashlight is 4.5 volt. With 2 of the lantern batteries it is only getting 3 volt. So this definatly is under powering flashlight and will be dimmer than it should.

    This is a really good hack but just keep in mind that the flashlight holds only 2 bigger batteries witch means 3 volts is going into the flash light and with the 3 original C batteries 4.5 volts is going to the flashlight. Meaning that with bigger batteries you get less power (light) coming from the flashlight, but over all still a very good hack :)

    one issue i see is the D batteries are 3x1.5v = 4.5v. the 6v battery has 4 smaller batteries that must have also 1.5v each, 1.5x4= 6v. but you only fit 2 of those where 3 of the D batteres used to fit, so 1.5+1.5=3v. so it will give a dimmer light. yet better than nothing :)

  • @josht8288
    @josht8288 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have taken a 6 volt battery apart before and it had those exact same cells in it. Also one 6v is cheaper to buy than 6 d cells. D cells £1-2 each or 6v lantern battery about £4.

    Why would someone have a 6V battery without a lantern or flashlight for it ? What else are they used for???
    Also this is not going to power the light as bright as normal because the voltage from the 2 F cells is smaller than the voltage from 3 D cells. The difference beween 4.5V and 3V will be HUGE when it is an sinple LED flashlight

    • @iChest123
      @iChest123 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct that the flashlight wont be as bright, however it will last longer which is better in a survival situation.

    • @power-max
      @power-max 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      iChest123 True, and that is a very good point. Although I think I would keep the 6V battery "That old LED lantern that uses these types of batteries I got last year." like why else would one have these just laying around? Also bulb-based flashlights are nearly obsolete nowadays, and even the dollar store flashlights are those that have a single 5mm LED in them!!! white LEDs will not operate hardly at ALL at 3V Thats why they always use either 3 to 4 cells to power them.
