My old house has a second layer of shingles and have not have any issues. You can't even tell. It was done 17 years ago. Based on my experience you should not have any issues doing it 😊
This guy says "you can only add a second layer if you have asphalt shingles", wrong. I have rolled asphalt and I can add a second layer of shingle on top. Then he goes on to say " you have to make sure your HOA approves", hey dummy, I have NO HOA. These kids in the roofing business are dumb.
I have a roof on back part of my house with a pitch of 1:5.3 (1 ft drop in 5.3 ft) - I don't think this pitch is adequate for asphalt shingles tho the roof has asphalt 3 tab shingles on it now. I've had a few leaks develope over the years. Shingles are now 26 years old. I am considering covering over with metal roofing materials. What are your thoughts?
Immediately stopped watching as soon as I saw "Why you shouldn't" on the board. If you had not had that written on the board as a preconceived conclusion, I would have been more open to listening to the whole video.
Reroofed my entire life, no problems.
Can you re roof over dimensional shingles?

Minimum slope for shingles is 2:12. Go with metal or a build-up option.
Answered my question. Thank you, really appreciate it
