    What a beautiful little fish. I think being in at that expense level, it begs to go the rest of the way and attempt to breed them. Who knows, it could be a great investment, or at the least you learn something. Win win. Great video, thank you for sharing with us as always.

    Thanks for this spotlight! I've seen these in my LFS (2 of them) and they're astounding. I had this idea to do a heavily planted 29 gal, dark substrate with some of my blue neocardina shrimp and then a handful of these as the centerpiece. Just can't shake the idea and this video certainly didn't help, they're just so stunning. Definitely going to let the tank marinate for a good while before adding these though!

    Just got 6 of these Cherry Tetras yesterday (juveniles), they are very curious and are schooling with my 9 Harlequin Rasboras.
    I have got them with 4 Lake Kamaka Rainbowfish, a Apistogramma MacMasteri male, 2 Reticulated SAEs, 2 Bolivian Rams, a Pearl Gourami and Marble Angelfish. As well as a few Amano Shrimp in a 55 gallon. 😅

    They are really beautiful. Do you have a video or advice on ways to determin if river rocks are safe for aquariums. Is there some,sort of test you can do on the rocks.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people use Muriatic Acid to see if it bubbles. I’ve found the easier way is to test the rocks in a tote and see what they do to water parameters over a few weeks.

    Thanks for the video. You mentioned the color. The amber tetra is similar or the red cherry is worth to get? From the size the amber would be the better option for a nano tank. So it's worth to go for the red cherry because of the color? Thanks.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The colors are definitely more intense with the cherries.

    • @larsseveridt3379
      @larsseveridt3379 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PrimeTimeAquatics thanks for the fast answer. Would you say the cherry is one of the most colorful little fishes or is there another species you have in your mind about striking colors?
      In your experience, they swim often in a group/school to check the aquarium or often each goes it's own way?

  • @deannad.4334
    @deannad.4334 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You mentioned to not put them in a new tank. How would you set them up then?
    We’re starting from scratch. We are heartbroken bc we just lost our beautiful female black beta we had for 2+ years. Obviously we’d be homing the new tetras in a 20 gallon tank (not the 5 gallon beta tank) so do we begin by building the tank with the plants, base and companion fish first?

  • @andystokes8702
    @andystokes8702 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I suspect your suggestion on breeding is probably right, the vast majority of these smaller tetras breed in the same way. I'm pretty sure that if I had a dozen of these fish that retail at maybe $20 a piece I would be trying my hardest to breed them; a half decent spawn might yield 200 fry. That's potentially a lot of money.

    How do you do your water with tetras and guppies ? Because I have been having trouble with soft water mixing in my tank trying to establish the right water for tetras and my mollies I was planning on even taking tetras out these would be a great option if you have seen the White cloud minnows they are pretty too

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't adjust my water parameters for fish. Every tank in our fish room has the same pH and water hardness. I then just keep fish that do ok in our water.
