People need to feel needed, having your children do truly strong chores is so beautiful. Our 2 year old even has a quick trash pickup each day...if people picked up as they went better this would not be needed, but the reality is we don't 😇. I just redid our chore system for summer....and I get one mealna day I do not have to do the kitchen, but I wake it up and am the one to put it to bed each day😁. Also, noone would accuse you of not doing your part, I wish I got more done myself to. We all need each other.

The new garden is looking great, it's going to be amazing when it's all filled in. Hopefully the raised beds help with the pest pressure and ease of planting and harvest. I love the idea of moving as much as you can outdoors, it's refreshing to change things up after being stuck indoors all winter. Looking forward to some nice weather over here so we can start eating outside as well.

Our family schools year round too. I find the routine is helpful to our days and with all the other projects going on, it means that everything (sorta) gets done throughout the weeks where the extras are less demanding. Would you consider sharing the skills of raising and butchering the meatbirds? I know that can be a touchy subject with some viewers, but I would love to see that.

I always look forward to the warm weather and sending kids outside to eat! I’m thinking about a canopy with the netting to keep the bugs out while we eat. The bugs annoy me before the heat will!
We too move out schoolwork outside for awhile. The messes are definitely easier to manage when they’re outside so much!

Wow, homesteading looks so exciting, rewarding and also a lot of work. I’d love to live this way. Right now it’s not a possibility so I’m making the most of my urban backyard garden. I’ve really enjoyed watching everything grow and documenting the growth in my videos. I Love to film the bunnies and birds in action. I’m learning so much from you and other TH-camrs. I hope we can learn more from each other! I wish you an abundant harvest! 🌼🌻🐝☀️🌸🌺

It is so wise to teach children to help with chores and work as a team. I see parents who are struggling to do everything while they raise uncaring, entitled kids. They are failing their children. It takes patience and consistency to teach our kids to work and be compassionate. It is the greatest legacy we can give them. You are doing a great job and your children still play and are active.

We school year round as well. I find that doing so helps with retention, and makes my son less frustrated. It also gives him more time with his father, since I can send him with work he can do independently.
He also likes cooking, and is going to try the walls of Jericho for dinner.

Idk which part of "living" outside I like most in your space! I think the bathtub. Genius with the privacy fence and heater! 😍 There's actually quite a movement of people that do cold plunging regularly so you could use it for that too if you ever felt inclined. (It's awesome 😊)

We also homeschool year round. We take a break in September to harvest crops from the field and in April due to calving. My husband and I rotate shifts checking on the heifer/cows. Love the outside bathing area! Unfortunately here we would be carried away by mosquitoes. Our family from PA come to visit for the first time 9 years ago. They asked if our state bird was the mosquito because they eat you alive early morning and as soon as 6 pm hits. We have been lucky this year so far because it’s been too cold for them to hatch however downside is we haven’t been able to get into the gardens or fields yet. It doesn’t want to warm up above 43 at night and this week will hit 34 so our furnace will have to be turned on again. Love the videos as it allows me to imagine the warmth.

I have 9 Greenstalks and they aren't wiggly at all. I noticed that the top of your potato stalk wasn't hooked over the 6 sections. That would help a lot. Also, having the planter on perfectly level ground is a must! I hope that you enjoy yours as much as I do. I have one for spinach, one for lettuces, three for strawberries, two for edible flowers/herbs at the entrance, one for peas and one for green beans. They will be cleared out now that harvest is done and make room for two other crops until fall when they go back into peas and green beans.

It looks so warm and lovely there! The outdoor kitchen is fantastic! Your garden is coming along splendidly! Have you ever thought about putting wood chip mulch down over the weed mat along the pathways in your vegetable garden? I have that on mine, it looks great and is so nice to walk on. Keeps the area cooler in summer too. In winter you can spread some winecap mushroom spores as they grow in wood chip, and then you’ll have mushrooms go eat too

This is wonderful video about your homeschool routine and I understand homeschooling year-round and I did also we didn't have a homestead we lived in town and a lot of people just really didn't understand why we were outside so often during the day. We also have no central air here and I cook outside often in the summer. I love the idea of the outdoor bath and shower also the propane water heater do you have any links for any of these things or no. Your gardens are looking beautiful and I love the way that you've done the beds. Green beans are one of our main vegetable Staples here and if I had a total crop failure one year I would have been totally heartbroken. I really hope the netting and things on the bottom and the raised beds cure that problem we seem to have more of a vole problem here now also and possibly even rats which I've never dealt much more with in my entire life.

We are in Ohio and thanks to your winter sowing video we tried it and I’m sharing it with my friends. I absolutely Th ink your outdoor wash area is so smart. God gives the best ideas. I grew up in the country and we washed littles off in a galvanized tub. Now I live in town and I have our children change into swimsuits and wash up outside when the weather cooperates. I didn’t even know their where propane camp water heaters! Thanks for sharing. Also after graduating two we have decided to school year round wihh Th my husbands support. God blessed us with the ability to purchase the empty lot behind our house and we are turning it into a garden. Schooling year round will afford us the freedom to put up harvest this fall. I glean so many tips when I watch. Thank you for loving Jesus, your husband and your children. May God be praised and may He bless you with more strength to do His will!

Since I got my Harvest right, I’ve quit waterglassing. I can process 6 dozen per run, 18 eggs per tray.just blend and freeze. 6 dozen, freeze dried fit in a gallon Mylar. Reconstituted you can’t tell them from fresh. You don’t have to find storage for jars, don’t have the losses or,have to be careful like with water glassed. I’ve put up 30 dozen this way. I really think you will, like it better than waterglassing, or even pickling.

I took up canning in 2021 (long story involving over-fertilized tomatoes and peppers). I pressure can in an instant pot and had 100% success with it. The trade off is smaller jars and smaller batches of jars, hence me having two instant pots! 😄. Needless to say, the few models out there that they put a “canning” button on are marked up by about 30%, but all instant pots are is an electric pressure cooker, so they all get the job done. Pretty sure the USDA wouldn’t stamp approval on it, but it’s never failed and never led to broken seals or sickness, so I’ll keep trucking without the stamp! 😄

I grew up in NC with the traditional way of growing potatoes in soil on the farm. My husband’s grandmother grew potatoes in straw or hay bales very successfully in Indiana & Washington state.

I absolutely love the outdoor bath idea! I'm sure that's very handy on the homestead! I love that we're very similar in the way our families do chores and homeschool outside during the summer as well. I've also recently talked to my husband about us investing in getting a greenstalk! You were very blessed to have a friend gift that to you! Also, did I hear you correctly when you said you got your flower towers from the dollar store? I would love to find some of those! Thank you for once again sharing such a great video!

@@stanleypennock2118 you're absolutely right about the work ethic! My son is 16 and he wants to be a master mechanic. So, not only does he help with taking care of our farm animals and the property itself but he also is already getting experience on working on all our farm equipment as well!
