    Great review! I just picked one up the other day from my local camera store. The only reason they had it is because one of the pre-orders canceled and they hadn't sold it to the next one in line yet. I suspect they are going to be sold out of this lens for the better part of a year. Yes, it's expensive, but it does literally everything right and is so easy to carry around. Great job Sony!!

    I bought this lens despite hesitation due to the price. I have no regrets. The image quality is outstanding. Thank you for the great review and once again I appreciate you including the speedmaster min focus test.

    Thank you for this excellent review. Have you ever tried the Sony FE 24-105 mm F4 G? I think that is a very interesting lens to take a look at as well.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My pleasure! I have tried it back 2019, but I wasn't particularly impressed, the optical qualities are average at best. Version II of that lens would also be very welcome.

    You are the person that I need to ask these questions to, if you could get a Sony 24-70mm gm version 1 for under $1200, is it worth it to even consider a Tamron 28-75mm version 1 or version 2 and if you own a Tamron 28-75mm version 1 is the GM version 1at the price I listed better than either Tamron. Is the Sony GM version 2 that much better than the GM version 1 to warrant the 1000 extra? Thanks in advance.

    I wonder how it compares with Sigma 24-70mm f\2.8 ART DG DN in terms of rendering color, contrast and flares
    Is it worth it to pay double the price?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Always my pleasure! This is the very top of the high-end, where you have to have to pay a lot more to get that last "percentage" of performance, so I can't answer that. For me it is worth twice as much because of the size, weight, bokeh, controls and minimal focus distance. Colors and contrast aren't that different.

    • @gtwester
      @gtwester 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did. Image quality alone was worth it for me. The 24-70 GM mk1 is just ok. I think most people (like myself) thought it was good because it was the first native 24-70 available but once the third party zooms came out we saw a new level of performance. Sigma’s 24-70 is sharper and has more contrast than 24-70 GM mk1 but has dust issues. The size and weight of the 24-70 GM mk2 is amazing as I can now walk out with it and not second guess if I want to carry it all day. It’s lighter than my 50mm GM. With all that being said I use it on a A7riv which as you know with it’s 61 megapixels demands the most of it’s lenses.

    What about action videography focus, so far I've not found any. will it work well for someone riding a bicycle, or mountain biking or cars driving by or anything moving really?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is because the AF should never be a used for those kinds of scenarios, that would look horrible regardless of how good is the AF.

      @@TheHybridShooter OK, but would be interesting to see. Some film themselves so no camera man. I current only have one elms i got cheap, I tested an 85mm 1.8 it did not do well in this scenario. I tested by riding and pulling wheelie in front of it. So been looking into the 24-70mm GM II Went in and out of focus, eventually cought up, but curious how this lens does. But if behind the camera of course it will be better. But still curious. I will likely buy it anyway.

      No, the Sigma is good, but not quite as good as the Sony. The Sony is more refined and lighter. What you buy is up to you of course, the Sigma is cheaper so that may be a consideration if budget is an issue for you. Personally, all else being more or less equal, I go for the ergonomics, and in this the Sony wins.
