Definitely, that's what I said when SCAG came out with that SFC30 with fixed wheels...dumb design for a heavy wide cut mower, way too much effort needed to turn the thing around...I see now they have that model, and one with swivel wheels, which is how it should have been built to begin with. Price is $3k though....I'd have to mow a heck of a lot of lawns to justify that. I just use a lawn tractor and push mower on my lawn, but I don't have fences or gates to contend with, and the couple of properties I have mowed this year had plenty of room and I used my sub-compact tractor and 60" mid mount mower to tackle those as they had 3-4 foot tall weeds/grass.
I don’t think you mentioned (or maybe I missed it), the drive wheels have a differential that allows the inside wheel to turn slower so it’s supper easy to turn with the front wheels set to swivel. It takes a little bit to get use to the controls and how to maneuver it but after you do it requires very little effort. It climbs hills great but does seem a bit top heavy and tippy on steep side slopes. Side discharging wet grass doesn’t leave as clean a finish as your mulching did.
Nice review. I've been operating the Toro Timemaster's since they came out. I mulch St Augustine dry or wet year round in Houston. We've been soaked all summer. The key is to use low lift blades in the thick season and set the adjustments correctly. As far as the Timemaster and the side discharge, it's useless imo. I've considered just welding it shut. 😂 I upgraded to the larger Briggs and Stratton with no bogg down issues honestly. The Timemaster was never meant to be a jungle lawn cutter. It really is a weekly lawn mower, but I do cut a fair amount of lawns every two weeks with it also. Ok on to this beast as you call it. 😂 I've had it for demo also, couple times. The things I didn't like was the weight, handle like you and the awkward feeling on turns, using caster wheels or locking them. Also the front wheels are pushed out further than a Timemaster. Like you, I loved the mulching capabilities and that alone had me thinking seriously about buying one on that issue alone. I like the physical toughness of it. The engine power is very good. I like the idea of 32" and cut quality it delivered. All of those things create the weight. Unfortunately I just couldn't pull the trigger on this unit. I actually think they're probably in a fair price range. I bet they would sell a ton at say $2,795.00. My business model just has no place for it. I have tiny yards for the Timemaster and I'm looking at a standon or rider for the bigger lawns for next season. I'm getting older and looking for comfort on big properties. If you're young and want to hustle 4mph this mower can make you a lot of money. Just sign up accounts this mower can get into back yards and it will pay for itself very quickly. Once again great review.
Just bought a scag vride 2 32inch. Its quick but man does it tear turf. Im mainly a ferris person with the 2100zs and z1s. Thinking of selling the vride2 and just buying one of these.
I felt the same way about the handle. It would be better if it would fold up. But I've come to appreciate it The FW15 so much. that the Rigid Handle is no longer a thought. Great Machine👊🏼💚
I think I would go ahead and go with a 36 inch Ferris but it is quite a bit more expensive. I think it would still go through most back yard gates. I am considering doing lawns next year commercially.
James I have the FW15. You won't go wrong if you choose it. It takes some time to learn how to work the machine and not let the machine work you. This thing is heavy. But like an old freightliner I use to drive - after putting about 10 hours on the FW15 learned how to let the machine do the work. There's a desire to Push & Pull on it when there's no need for it. At first mine felt awkward and bulky - now I operate it like it light and nimble.
@@LanierLawnCare I was extremely lucky to find it . Most of the dealers in my area didn’t have it, backordered for months. The dealer I bought it from hadn’t had another one since last year.
So I currently use a timemaster myself, and I love it, but it is a bit under powered. I've been thinking about getting the Toro or Exmark commercial 30. All things considered would you really recommend this Ferris? Or maybe I should look at other 32 or 36 inch walk behinds?
I’ve owned the FW15 since February. I have a Bermuda lawn cut around 2 - 2 1/4. My other mower is the Honda HRX. Many of my neighbors have mid quality push mowers and, the worst, electric mowers. I can’t tell you how many times we go lots of rain and their lawns are yellow after cutting it and mine is dark green. This does a superb job. I’m debating on a mulch kit, but the side discharge looks great and I only make one pass.
For what it is the HRX is a good mower. I especially like its mulching capability compared to the Honda commercial. It literally goes through stuff without a sweat but the Ferris looks like a good mower and I don't even like Briggs and Stratton but at least its power equipment companies seem to be of very good quality.
What's up Danny. I'm glad to see you got one of these. I'm planning on possibly getting one in another season or so when I replace my timemaster (whenever that may be) I know your gonna put it through an honest test
@davisonthomas4697 nope, I ended up going with the dewalt 33" mower same thing as the cub cadet and craftsman 33" mowers. For various different reasons. Main thing was the price lol. Picked it up new for 1100$ out the door. It's 3k plus for this ferris
Thanks for the solid review on this. I'm looking at this and the Scag SFC 30" which is around the same price. I'm liking the pneumatic wheels, slightly wider cutting path, and variable speeds on the Ferris... Plus it matches my Redmax blower & trimmer.
I bought the FW15 this spring. Absolutely worth the money, commercial quality. I mow my home yard with it . Approximately 20k sq ft. Saves me so much time verses my 21” Honda. I bought the factory bagger and it vacs great, even stripes. Questions feel free to ask.
Hey how long does it take you to cut your 20ksq ft with the FW15? I’m wore out my cub cadet rider and am seriously considering this one for my 1/2acre lot.
@@keithwaddell2714 I haven’t actually hustled and done both the front and back at the same time real quick but the front is about 10,000 sq ft. Takes about 20 min.

Wow the underdeck was clean. Yea I almost bought one this year . But I just got a new timemaster from home depot for free from breaking too much. Yep they don't like any type of wet... lol. Good review. I have that engine on a sutech stealth 33. Almost like this.. tank not big enough...
Danny from what I seen on the video u appeared to b very impressed with the mower that would b good enough for at least me to buy one if I chose to mow my own lawns
I have the toro time master 30” homeowner unit. Underpowered POS and until toro sold you their fix (baffle and high lift blades), the mower didn’t mulch or bag properly. It still cuts unevenly. Everything on my mower broke. I’m constantly replacing things and am looking for a good 30-32” walk behind for my 1/2 acre property. The FW15 seems heavy so you can’t pick it up - need ramps. How does it bag the grass (wet and dry)? Looks like high lift blades on it. Thanks for the review- really helped me a lot.
It's a solid machine, I just can't justify spending 3 Grand for a push mower when I can get a Toro Super Recycler with a Honda Engine for 700 and only make what a few more passes and it does more than this 3,000 mower.
It’s really not a push mower though and it will climb and go down hills much better with far less effort all while cutting a wider path. I bought one this spring because my toro time saver couldn’t handle the hills I have to tackle.
@@byronn.2885 So now a self propelled walk behind mower isn't a push mower? I understand there are some upgraded features, but at the end of the day it's still a 2,000 push mower.
@@NewVisionLCS it’s closer to a walk behind than a push mower is what I guess I’m trying to say. It’s a very unique machine and it’s hard to understand just how much better it is without using it for a while. I’m using it commercially so it’s easier for me to justify the cost as it suits my needs and the time and energy it saves me translates to more money earned and energy to get more lawns done per day.
I think Toro should make deluxe or elite version of the Timemaster. Bigger wheels/caster on front, pneumatic tires, 1 gal tank, peppier trans. I would buy it! I looked at Ferris and Xmark for my 3/4 acre lawn but my Timemaster was better in most ways including price.
Toro makes a Turfmaster which is a commercial version of the residential Timemaster. Better transmission, slightly different wheel attachments, 1 gallon tank. I own the Turfmaster and have used a Timemaster many times. Turfmaster clearly better than the Timemaster, not really a comparison. We use the Turfmaster on about 24 smaller yards a week.
Best review for this mower I could find lol I had to subscribe! Now… could you please do a review on the Scag SFC30-7CV-S? S stands for swivel. I’m trying to decide which I’m gonna get.
Looks like did good job Mulching.. 1 questions I have about Ferris 30” Mfg by Briggs & Stratton.. Why our they running with Honda Engine ..? What does say about BS engine..! My Equipment is powered by Honda @ Kawasaki
I can say first hand the exmark commercial 30 CANNOT handle wet grass if you are trying to mulch. Other than that it's a good mower. That ferris holds it's own
Its a pretty sweet machine. My only complaint is the small gas tank. I use it to cut all of the front yards for my customers and then ill use a cub cadet 28 inch for rhe back if i can't fit this.
Mr. Lanier. Thank you for this review. I use a Toro Time Master on my lawn only (just under 1K sqft). It works just fine and am always looking for something a bit bigger without going to a rider or stand-on. from the video, it looked like the FW15 did not have timed blades. Is this correct? That would be a plus for me. Anyway thanks for the review. By the way... I am 74 and still using a walk behind.
Watching some older videos. I will be in the market for a push mower. Just looking at everyone reviews. I enjoy your reviews and the the other reviews you do. Thanks for taking the time.
Cut From point A to point B (1 end of yard to another) going forward. Once you reached point B, turn around either to your left or right and cut going forward from B to A. Vice versa, Repeat, repeat. There’s your “two tones”
I have owned a cub cadet 33 and the FW15 definitely has a better cut quality. The 33 is actually a very good mower but the cub cadet is considered a residential mower vs Ferris is commercial.
One thing you didn't say anything about is the blades control is it a timed system like that goofy Toro Time master because if it is I would not buy it because those mowers that have a time blade system is too dangerous you need a mower that has a independent blade system in case you go over a part of a tree stump or other debris.
Toro TimeMaster handle is the best not sure why every company won’t do that including toro turfmaster not sure why. I like the timemaster for the price and the capability of bagging, mulching, and side discharge. If Ferris can get their bagger right then I feel more people would buy it.
@@v8soarer1991 I beg to differ toro TimeMaster bags awesome!! Watch a video of it bagging. I think Ferris bagging system is good what I meant was it needs to be quick from bagging to mulching
They say you get what you pay for! That was never truer than with Feris products. Having said that I would say you need either a stander or a zero-turn to compliment the machine you have. These machines were meant to be pushed hard under challenging circumstances. The Toro is aimed at the prosumer market because you can definitely put the Time master to the test in a pinch.
I would venture to say that most commercial guys are not gonna cut a lawn that big with a push mower on the reg for money so it really over achieved in my view! great Demo Buddy
Good review of this mower. I’d like to see how it performs on a biweekly cut full of weeds like dallis grass and crab grass. I like to get started early in the mornings and always looking for an advantage. 👍
I agree. And cut at a shorter height than what these TH-camrs cut at. And a older deck. In this video under the deck is clean because it's a new mower.
Hello a nice looking mower, only down side is that engine,it would not be anywhere on any of my lawns with a honda engine,Briggs& Stratton or American Kohler engines (China make Kohler as well ) on my machines
3k is pretty steep. i purchased a non swivel model (since i live on a hill) and only paid 2k brand new. I dont have a mulch kit, just the standard blades, and a Quikchute. I purchased the mower last spring, and went to clean the underdeck this past week, and there was nothing to clean.. the bottom of these things are like Teflon..
I think that I noticed, when you lifted it up for a look see, that there were grease zirts on the spindles. That's a big plus in my opinion. You didn't say anything about bagging so I guess it doesn't have that capability, right?
I’d like to see one channel take one of these mowers in 8”+ grass instead of barely an inch of growth in a perfect weed free yard.

It’s a very unique machine and it’s hard to understand just how much better it is without using it for a while. I’m using it commercially so it’s easier for me to justify the cost as it suits my needs and the time and energy it saves me translates to more money earned and energy to get more lawns done per day.
@@byronn.2885 Ahhh gotcha. Hey if it fits your business model, then congratulations!
@@NewVisionLCS jut visited the ferris web site. Jan '23 msrp $3799. Dayum proud of it now.
Dang I just seen the best mower to get been watching lots of videos never seen this one till now, I'm shopping now. Ferris I need a deal.
It is truly a phenomenal unit
I’m actually interested in that thing! Love the Honda engine. How heavy is it?
250lbs
@@LanierLawnCare what’s the Lanier big baller discount code?
@@LanierLawnCare will the self propel work without the blades engaged?
@@allamerican7830 yes, the hydro drive works independent of the blades.
@@LanierLawnCare 285lb
What a sweet mower ;)
How well they do on hills?
You can lock the wheels so they don’t swivel and bam it’s a hill holder bolder
Where do I get the mulch plate that you installed the discharge side ?
Buy the mulch kit for the mower it should be included
Scag won’t let me get a demo like Ferris let me.
@@LanierLawnCare that’s fucked! You should see if you can rent one from somewhere 🤔. 🙏🏻🙏🏻.
I disagree on the gas tank. I have the same mower and do 3-4 yards per tank. I side discharge and it has never lose power!
How would you say it stacks up against the scag sfc 30 with the caster wheels?
Not sure. Never tried the scag. I will say the quality this mower is made of will be hard to beat
@@LanierLawnCare Thanks
Looks great
Looks like did good job Mulching..
1 questions I have about Ferris 30” Mfg by Briggs & Stratton.. Why our they running with Honda Engine ..? What does say about BS engine..!
My Equipment is powered by Honda @ Kawasaki
My shoulders are burnt out...whats easier to handle, the Ferris or the timemaster?
Honestly, Both are about the same
hands down the timemaster is much easier to handle
I can say first hand the exmark commercial 30 CANNOT handle wet grass if you are trying to mulch. Other than that it's a good mower. That ferris holds it's own
@@schaeferlawncarepropertyma4898 hello
How would this mower handle longer grass?
Looks awesome buddy
No bagging option?
Yes you can add a bagger if you’d like
@@LanierLawnCare thanks. I did find a video of one being used. Not sure it’s worth 3k plus. Thanks again
What is the price on this these days, close to 3k?
Yes this lawnmower is good if you use it for commercial only over kill just for your house my toro 30” will do for that kinda size yard
Well, he'll have it as long as he owns the house, probably forever. Problem solved LOL!
Its a pretty sweet machine. My only complaint is the small gas tank.
I use it to cut all of the front yards for my customers and then ill use a cub cadet 28 inch for rhe back if i can't fit this.
Great review. Have you bought one yet, or if not, why not?
She stripes nicely.
What's an easier way to turn this mower. It's pretty heavy and take a lot of effort.
Can these have a silly stand on platform?
How much you pay for the machine sirv?
Got two Scag 30s
Mr.
Has timed blades. I mow an acre+ with mine. I'm 76 so enjoy the mow young pup. lol
@@donalddavis3308 thank you OLD TIMER for taking my comment. My property is a little less than 10K square feet not 1K square feet. FYI
Can it mulch and bag ?
I would compare it to a turf tracer more than a timemaster. Its better than the 36 inch walk behinds.
Nice mower how can I get one
Watching some older videos. I will be in the market for a push mower. Just looking at everyone reviews. I enjoy your reviews and the the other reviews you do. Thanks for taking the time.
How do you make lines two toned ?
Cut From point A to point B (1 end of yard to another) going forward. Once you reached point B, turn around either to your left or right and cut going forward from B to A. Vice versa, Repeat, repeat. There’s your “two tones”
Can you put a sulky or velky on this thing???
No. It’s not that strong to pull the weight.
no
Nice cut
Love it!
who made your intro man ?
You think it’s better then the 33inch cub cadet walk behind?
I have owned a cub cadet 33 and the FW15 definitely has a better cut quality. The 33 is actually a very good mower but the cub cadet is considered a residential mower vs Ferris is commercial.
@@BillyGoatLawnService I got the cub cadet 33inch also seems like same cut quality to me
@@j.plawncare which cub 33... the 800 or the 760es?
One thing you didn't say anything about is the blades control is it a timed system like that goofy Toro Time master because if it is I would not buy it because those mowers that have a time blade system is too dangerous you need a mower that has a independent blade system in case you go over a part of a tree stump or other debris.
Blades are dual timed
Toro TimeMaster handle is the best not sure why every company won’t do that including toro turfmaster not sure why. I like the timemaster for the price and the capability of bagging, mulching, and side discharge. If Ferris can get their bagger right then I feel more people would buy it.
Because the timemaster personal pace handle setup is all plastic.
@@schaeferlawncarepropertyma4898 your right why can’t they make the same concept out of metal??
I disagree with "capability of bagging" No Toro bags good or any US sold mower with a blocking plate / plug in the chute.
@@v8soarer1991 I beg to differ toro TimeMaster bags awesome!! Watch a video of it bagging. I think Ferris bagging system is good what I meant was it needs to be quick from bagging to mulching
Nice
Missing the striping kit
They say you get what you pay for! That was never truer than with Feris products. Having said that I would say you need either a stander or a zero-turn to compliment the machine you have. These machines were meant to be pushed hard under challenging circumstances. The Toro is aimed at the prosumer market because you can definitely put the Time master to the test in a pinch.
I would venture to say that most commercial guys are not gonna cut a lawn that big with a push mower on the reg for money so it really over achieved in my view! great Demo Buddy
I mostly won't do anything more than 1/4 acre with a 30. Anything less is perfect
@@Lstutta hello
How much?
😮 nice
Boom
Wish you would have let some clipping on the back porch or sidewalk so we can see how mulched up they are
Hello a nice looking mower, only down side is that engine,it would not be anywhere on any of my lawns with a honda engine,Briggs& Stratton or American Kohler engines (China make Kohler as well ) on my machines
Yes. You can bag, mulch or side discharge. This mower has the full mulch kit on it
I need one lol
