    Welcome to our beautiful city! I hope you're enjoying your stay.
    It's travellers like yourselves that makes us locals realise how lucky we are. We always complain, about this, that and everything else about our home town. It's only when we get your outside perspective to remind us of how lucky we are to live here. So thank you, and enjoy everything we have to offer.

    End of winter? No it’s the beginning of our Autumn. It’s the end of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. You’re in the Southern Hemisphere now.

    I am very glad you did the tour. So many people go to the steps at the back of the Opera House and think they have seen the Opera house. They don’t even walk around to the front, which is where the building was designed to be seen.

      Even better is to get the ferry across to Beulah St Wharf at Kirribilli. Great views as you cross the Harbour, then a short walk for a coffee. From there you can walk back across the Bridge or get the train.

    Just a word of advice. We Aussies are fairly easy going so if you ask someone for directions they will help if they can or get you someone who can.

    The seal you saw at the northern VIP steps of the Opera House, otherwise unoccupied for the majority of the year, is the favourite sunbathing spot of a wild long-nosed fur seal, affectionately called 'Benny' (named after Bennelong Point).
    He's now world famous and has been there since 2014 sunbathing himself.

    You are now in the Southern Hemisphere. Our seasons here are the reverse of the Northern Hemisphere. April is Autumn in Sydney, NOT spring. We have just gone through Summer.

    Accessing the Harbour Bridge is easier on the south side of the bridge, not the north side.
    Quay is pronounced 'Key'... Great vlog! and the 'island' you talk about is the "REST" of Australia...and yes it is and island! 🤣🤣🤣

    Such a pity you didnt get blue skies and sunshine but at least it wasn't pouring rain.
    Its confusing in a strange place. Painful watching you take wrong turns. I'm the same overseas too 😅.... a bit of googling would help...
    Arizona ! Hubby and I were there once - what a gorgeous place. Loved the beautiful landscape...Loved Sedona...bought churros from a street vendor...yum, loved them too !

    The reason you scan different cards is there are random spot checks to make sure people have paid. They have a scanner which checks the card to make sure the card has tapped on, it doesn’t check the amount that has been paid. So each person must have their own card.

    It's not called Fish & Fries. Chips!🤣 I'm assuming your guide is telling you about the acoustics in the Opera House? Every opera house says theirs is the best.😁 Country 8 is New Zealand!
    We just got back from Malaysia and it was so cheap. We go there a lot to escape the NorCal cold in the winter...yes, I am a wimp. SF is too cold in the winter.🤪 Got home a month later and it's still cold. Now it's turning into allergy season so I'll have to go somewhere else next month.

    • @TravelAbout
      @TravelAbout  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes we loved Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur for that fact. Had a lot of sticker shock in Australia.

  • @LesGray-i9p

    Sydney is expensive compared the rest of the cities. Minimum wages are twice the US throughout the country ( US15 an hour on weekdays,$23 on Saturday and $US30 on Sundays. One reason why food is expensive, others are real estate prices. Professional opportunities are much better and so many want to live there, it’s all about demand. (A lot) and supply (not enough).
    Northern beach suburbs average $US3M. That’s north Sydney (that island that’s not).
    You can’t expect to pay $1 or $2 to cross a bridge on a higher level. You’re comparing a 3rd world country to a developed one just like your own. $US 15 isn’t much compared to $US200 to climb it)
    You have the benefit of a much larger population too.
    Remember your exchange rate is excellent. There’s plenty of free places like the Botanic Gardens. In the UK there’s a charge of $US40 to see their main London gardens.
    Best that you plan a bit better next time.
    Know must be hard though when not feeling well. Hope you’re better now.

    • @TravelAbout
      @TravelAbout  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We did have a little sticker shock on some things. But it was the price we were willing to pay to have some cooler weather to enjoy.

    Australia doesn't have mountains. The Blue Mountains are hilly ranges and valleys covered in gum trees. But it's certainly NOT where you'd want to get lost. Quay is pronounced "kee".

    • @DeepThought9999
      @DeepThought9999 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Blue Mountains are not particularly “mountainous” but rather are in the form of a gently sloping plateau rising to the west (away from Sydney) but they are dissected by deep valleys with in most cases lined by sheer, vertical sandstone cliffs. Early European explorers tried to gain access to the interior of the country by following the valleys but were unable to proceed beyond the cliffs. From the start of the settlement of Sydney in 1788 until 1813, when explorers Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson followed an old aboriginal walking trails up the ridge lines and successfully crossed the mountains, the Blue Mountains had formed an impenetrable barrier for 25 years.

      Your comment is not related to the video and is certainly totally unrelated to Australia. However, many Aussie would tell yoy where to shove your pro trump comment. We do not take lies and crap from politicians and certainly do not idolise them. You may join a cult but we expect our politicians to work for the betterment of the people and the country, not someone who is only self interested.Keep out of our way!
