Yamaha XSR900GP is the stand-out bike for me 😍 Wow!
Looks incredible. Can't wait till all the UK boys get to test it on track. We better get it in the States.
Kinda of wish I didn’t buy a 22 09 sp
Appreciate the deeply well-informed and thoughtful, delightfully enthusiastic conversation. Keep it up.
Suzuki GX and Guzzi Stelvio are the interesting releases (for me).
The point about a bike not having XYZ gizmo, is not that it doesn't have it, but rather it's not an option to start with. Look at BMW they build a basic platform and if you want the gizmo you pay extra, but it is available. The Japanese are terrible at offering anything except luggage, Akra and centre stand. The Big4 are very much stuck in the Model T Ford approach to bike building. If Moto Guzzi can offer Adaptive Cruise (4D) on the Stelvio as an OPTION, surely Japan can to.
Great show from two witty and knowledgeable journos.
Witty yes, knowledgeable clearly not. If I would be nice to them I would call them twats.
At last! Martin and Simon...just talking bikes!...with a video camera gadget! Well done Bike Social. Why its taken so long, I cant say but PLEASE bring us more!
Hopefully this is the trigger for more. Belive me, we planted the seed long ago!
Cheers, Michael
The new E-clutch on the 2024 Honda 500's are potentially revolutionary in their own way! Enables up/down quick shift capability, along with being able to leave the clutch engaged when slowing to a standstill with no stalling - like a Rekluse clutch.
Sounds like a Honda Cub! 😉
Gay
Nobody asked about your sexual orientation 😂
What an informative and entertaining conversation. Wonderful!
Excellent round-up chaps 👏 Highlight for me is the GX.
"Suzuki Handheld Ambling Transducer" - brilliant 🤣
We finally get FEC on video, yay!
Brilliant Show and great banter, think this years Bike show is going to be a stomper!!
I love the new Suzuki, looks so good. Was about to buy the Yamaha 9 GT+ but now I'm going to wait for that sexy 1000 ❤
the CBR600RR is the R9 everyone was waiting for. looks awsome and as a honda will ride awsome as well. my next bike for sure.
CF Moto MT450. At last someone is listening to what off road adventure riders have been crying out for for ages. And it's a looker to boot
Thanks guys, that's just saved me £50 & sore feet.
Michael Eavis is looking well.
Thanks for the show fellas.
For me the most anticipated bike is ninja 7 ninja e1
Great comments from you guys. I appreciate your TH-cam films. Maybe it’s mentioned, but most of the customers that can afford many of the bikes today are at 40+ of age. And we all remember when we as youngsters drooled of bikes that where popular fourty years ago 😉 Myself has in been the saddle for the past 50 years and I love manufacturers who brings back old style bikes.
Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪
Of the bikes you mentioned, the Suzuki is by far my favourite. I won't buy one, but I would love to. As an old 2011 990 SMT owner, I'm actually holding out for a new 990 SMT.
Funny chaps! Great dialogue & discussions. I’d like to know more about the CFMoto 450MT & MTX concept potentially using the new triple engine 👌
Love the Stelvio.
Simon…..class, man. How many call out the Guzzi 85TT as a cracking looking bike? All kinds of styling ques giving the bike a modern, yet classic feel.
Lovvvvveddd it. Thanks guys.
of all the manufacturers, Suzuki seems to come out swinging this year. Looking forward to the first impressions of the gsx s1000x (hope I got that right)- my prediction is they will sell like hot cakes to the aging tech loving crowd myself included.
all the money they're saving from not being in motogp or wsbk anymore has been put to good use
@@TheFujacI'm really glad that's the case, because there have been examples when some manufacturers pull out of motorsports, the products that they sell to the public end up getting really watered down.
I just can't wait for GX test ride. Yesterday I visited my local Suzuki dealer, they already took 4 cash advance blind orders 🤯
Personally I'd rather lose some of the tech like the 6 axis or the electronic suspension and swap them for heated grips and 3 piece luggage.
I follow some other motorcycle-related outlets as well and I don't want to throw any shade anywhere but got to admit, I like your coverage of new bikes (first-looks, reviews, long-term tests) the best. Shout-out to BikeWorld, Revzilla and Fortnine as well.
Yamaha XSR 900gp, definitely my standout looks superb and with that great triple engine.
Have you ridden a Yamaha triple and Triumph triple back to back? The Yamaha feels Stone Age, and I’m not even British!
Kawasaki seem to be on fire at the moment so many new models coming out, I love them!
Fec tv ! Hoorah 👍
I'll stick to my Transalp 750, I think is the best in its class and best value for money
How many ways can Simon say "yes"..... 😂Great content lads
Enjoyed this as a bit of pre-NEC revision - thanks chaps. Three things while I'm here.
1) I was a Ducatisti for a loooong time but their marketing & image now makes me boke (verb, Scots, to spew one's ring). I mean, the absolute state of this....th-cam.com/video/yWUDV-zrKpk/w-d-xo.html. The 698 radical and innovative? - makes 3 more bhp than a 2017 KTM 690 single but weighs 5kg more....
2) Agree with Si on parallel twins - they belong in mid-sized ADV bikes, end of. Not enough minerals or character for anything else, please stop.
3) The Yam 900GP - spank me hard with the sales brochure and call me Wayne. I'm having one!
My next bike will be either the Duke 990 or XSR900 GP with lower faring
😃
Really enjoyed this chat its somewhere between mcn and 44teeth with regards to seriousness/taken the piss,a nice middle ground😉
We are our own demographic :-)
Hi guys! Only recently found your channel but so far I'm loving the content! Great open reviews with some awesome comparisons. Also enjoy the what bike next series. I think the market here in Australia is very similar to you in the UK in terms of available bikes etc so the videos you do are still really relevant over here.
I would love to see you guys do a bit of a retro/modern classics shootout though if possible? My wife and I both love retro looking motorcycles. I currently own a 2023 Z900rs and my wife owns a Classic 350 reborn as her first bike. She will be upgrading to her first big bike in the next 18/24 months so seeing a good comparison of around 4-6 modern classics in that 600 - 1200cc range would be awesome! Maybe like a T100/T120 with a Guzzi V7, Kawasaki W800/Z650rs and a couple of the Royal Enfields or a BSA would be great.
Cheers for the great reviews and hope to see a modern classic comparison video sometime soon!
Nice plant placement.
Between two ferns? 😁
FECing awesome! SiH and Mufga at their best 👍
Thinking of Suzuki GX and CBR 600rr into the garage next year, but don’t know if I can give up the v4 Tuono which is awesome 😎
When you said the biggest and most awaited for bike is.........Royal enfield himalayan 452 😊.....
This is the best bike video on TH-cam etc……how’s that lads.
Actually it’s very good hi from Tassie
I know the GS is the star of the show, unfortunately I cant ride an adventure bike... Now the R1300RS, that's gonna be interesting.
About the retro stuff, I think it's a quite brilliant marketing move. Think about the people in their 40s and 50s who are around that midlife crisis and have a healthy wallet... What better product to sell them than bikes that look like the ones they wanted as a child? Targeted nostalgia always works.
Well also the big adventure bikes, for the same demographic, "one last adventure before I'm too old"
I'm letting this play in the background while tinkering with my 97 virago and browsing for £500 heaps on Facebook marketplace.
I like the Suzuki all-rounder.. But. I would would still go for the GT. Love the classic sport touring vibes. Also. The Moto Guzzi V7 Corsa looks kinda nice.
If the new himalayan comes out withing spitting distance of a drz 400 that would be interesting. Could easily take over a midsized dualsport spot. Or put more pressure on the 300's to compete a bit more amongst themselves
The new GS looks very Honda NC 750 etc like.. I like it .
I am looking forward to seeing the Kawasaki ZX-4RR at Motorcycle Live as my fisrt bike after passing my test was a ZXR400
Great video! I'm a customer for a 600-800ish sport bike. I'm relatively new and use my MT-07 for commuting and I'd like a sport bike version of it as I prefer to ergonomics. I know the R7 already exists but I rode both and the MT seemed to fit the engine better.
The new Top Gun triggered a look back at the Kawi GPZ900r and the other manufacturers are jumping onboard
Nice video but if you do bike news about the 1300GS, also mention the news about the shaft drive service intervals. That also goes for the 1200 and the 1250 CC bikes
SHAT - Suzuki Handheld Ambling Transducer. Love it!!!
A' option' of tubeless spoke wheels on 450 himalayan is a nice one👍as a ex himalayan owner of pension age im thinking this new one could be my alround bike ...vstrom 650 px maybe🤔🤔🤔👍
XSR900 GP looks like a million bucks. We better get that thing in the States. The sports version with full fairings and akropovic exhaust looks to be the one to get.
Sorry
Benelli TRK 702 & 702X. ?
Cracking bike at a great price point.
You forgot the Honda NX500, I'm sure it will sell in big numbers. Along with the Triumph 400. But then it depends how you define 'best new bikes', a new release that is popular with buyers has to be part of being the best.
I just love the look of that GSX-S 1000GX. Could this be a future bike for me, Replacing my Honda Varadero 1000.... I'm 203cm tall - so the "normal" GSX's are not an option
Have a Mandello V100s, just placed my order for the Stelvio. That Yamaha XSR 900 GP is so sweet, might have to add one of those to the stable also!
Tough life you have there mate. Lol
No sorry, good on you
@@meathead365 I have worked long and hard to have a few toys to play with in my old age!
@@Motomack1042 I know bro, you enjoy them,
Life's good
The GS fans will have to love it, that is all they will get.
I think BMW has the midas touch so it's good that all their R&D went into the R1300GS
Loved the video but disappointed that you didn’t mention the Triumph range specifically the new Speed 400
I would love to see Moto Guzzi Norge 💚
I can't believe dismissed e clutch it's awesome new tech . considering go on about quick sifters.this is much better .
About the Suzuki GX, how do you think it will compare with the GT? Does the taller suspension make up for the added unstability with comfort and agility?
Scott Russell's retro-Ninja!!!
Chasing a younger audience with the GS may fail, because it's high cost compared to a litre spot bike which gives a lot more performance and is a more attractive to that group. GS owners are more likely to have bad knees than bad attitude 🤨
Himalayan is lighter than the old version at 181 kg dry. Alsi if you check, RE is pricing in West is usually between 75 to 100% more than price in India. Key is that it is benchmarked against price in India which means it would probably 5300 GBP.
Nearer 6k I reckon?
Two points on the Suzuki GX:
1) Was the Bandit 1200/1250 not a Suzuki tall-rounder? How about the V-Strom 1000/1050?
2) The Honda NT1100 is surely a rival for this bike and is available from £12,649 and comes with panniers (and possibly also a centre stand?) ready to go. Not as powerful sure, but still plenty powerful enough to lose your licence and will do the same job overall.
I still really love my 2003 CB919 Hornet. It’s light and fast and free of excessive ‘technology’.
Interesting guys, enjoyed your show some thoughts on the Kawasaki Hybrid its alright making them but selling them is a whole different ball game, we see a lot of the big electric car manufactures pulling out of electric due to low sales and billions of debt, plus the savage depreciation for the owners, i wouldn't want to see Kawasaki go down the same rabbit hole.
CF Moto 450 MT
Just finished a 150-mph ride on my new 2023-Kawasaki-ZX-10-RR. 52 years old, you will never catch me riding anything other than a Sport Bike!! Kawasaki is King!!!
Next ride, a wheelchair 😮
Owned 2 Kawasaki's GPZ cam chain needed at 25,000kms ...
crap cam chains still aproblem so I hear
Great for our potholed roads in the UK 😂
Medal for you
Impressive hope you like prison dinners 😂
Nice chat video 👍 The GSXS1000SX is by far the most interesting, just surprised it comes with Suzuki's own version of skyhook semi active suspension ! I for one would much prefer it stripped of all that technology on stock suspension, especially if it was priced £2k lower closer to GSXS1000GT price ! So many riders are so turned off by the herd of lardy lumpy GS's & prefer smoother triples & fours. I did expect a CBF1000X Hornet Adventure to appear ? Worldwide car EV production is being shut down due to lack of demand caused by high price of this technology, high carbon cost, massive depreciation, plus technology shortcomings, poor range, potential battery charging runaway explosions & fire from EV batteries, some of which applies to EV bikes & Hybrids. While its interesting, its also a reason i wouldnt touch one with a barge pole 😮
FEC me, those guys are the best :)
As someone who uses commuting as a justification for owning a motorbike and having never done any bike touring, the scale of the success of the GS is very intriguing, I'll have to test ride the new one. But the most attractive bike for me would be the new himalayan, sensible commuter and realistic (and therefore tentalising for me) greenlaning machine.
Stelvio cannot be compared with the GS, as it should cost around 17k€ (looking at top mandelo territory) against 25k€ for the GS base model. Even so, If I had the money for both, I would prefer the stelvio (not muc off roading going on in me). The best of the best was that XSR900 GP. (but in my opinion, without the kit)... that kit below might cover the weird bits and pieces, but makes it loose a bit of the retro look (in my opinion). Next year fight will be around 400-500cc ADV bikes. EVERY one is in it.
I have a Lot of Time for Simon
but it's Easy to Be Disparaging about
Affordable Parallel Twins , when He. Gets to Ride some Very Expensive jaw dropping Motorcycles.
That Yamaha GP (Lawson?) Triple. Might not.
Even Exist. If it wasn't for the
MT -07 P.T saving. Yamaha from Financial
Problems. Some Years Back
Looking forward to seeing the bimoto tera, they decided to put the supercharged kawasaki engine in an adventure bike before kawasaki did it themselves
BMW says that the drive shaft should be changed every 80000 kilometers for the new R 1300 GS
I like the 80’s throwback, if Honda makes a new RC30, I’ll take the loan and I’m probably not alone.
You missed the CFMoto 450MT.
When will the 1000gt get an IMU and fancy suspension?
I saw a clip with a preview teaser of the Suzuki gsxs8GT for later in 24!
What have you heard?
I vowed never to return to the NEC after they demanded the untested vax to gain entry.
Also felt the last MCL event was overhyped and under resourced.
Saw the GP on google the day it was released... put a deposit down same day race pack included ..I have to wait till june to get it ..Australia .. dealer had already sold 3 WOW
It's a great time to be a motorcycle rider.
But. Where are the affordable bikes you can buy, outright after 2/3 years, for Mr Average income?
I appreciate that manufacturers don't want this, and want to lock us into a never ending cycle, but we don't all live on never ending credit.
Which is why bikes like the Tenere 700, 800 DE, Himalayan, and NX500 are where my interest lies.
And maybe affordable Chinese, not sure yet.
I like to go far, not fast. Do reliability is top of the list. Electronic wizardry isn't of interest.
But a very interesting watch.
Ride safe and happy travels 👍
Hi guys . Bit controversial maybe but I think CF Moto are worth a mention .. they have 5 new models 450mt mtx concept 800nk clc & clx cruisers . Not for everybody being Chinese but think they are definatly one of the better Chinese brands . Looking forward to seeing their offerings at Motorcycle Live
The air cooling and the push rods were never the problems for Moto Guzzi. The engine is great. It really is! The problem always were the clutch and the gearbox. I did 8000 miles every year on my used T3 California back in the eighties. Never again! The clutch and gearbox repairs ruined it all. I just bought an "old" SV650 in May. It makes me smile every day. Just like my two stroke three cylinder GT550 back in the seventies. When the Japanese manufacturers solved their instability problems they won. Period!
The Hima of course - even if itś a deviation of the original Hima 411, itś much more useful as travelbike in Europe due to more power, (said to be) better brakes and the "navigation" in the display which seems to be much more useful then the tripper ever could have been. If the price is interesting over here (Austria) Iĺl for sure get one.
I think the triumph dirt bike looks amazing and seems like a brilliant new engine and chassis. Suzuki need a basic DR650 that's simple and reliable but cleaned up for emissions without the bull. Enfield's new Himalayan isn't bad but Suzuki is far better built and designed. Bring it in for £6500 but with simpler calipers, forks and basic suspension and plain cheaper paint job.
The Enfield is over 8k in Ireland 👀
Got to be the Triumph speed 400 & 400x. tut tut tut 😅
I only listened to this “podcast” so I hope I don’t make a fool of myself when I say, I agree with everything Kermit the frog said. Solid analysis fren.
I would choose the Suzi GX on sound alone, not to mention the looks, and iconic engine. Problem with motorcycle enthusiasts is that they want so many different bikes, and the choices out there, are so plentiful. Spoilt for choice, and thrown into a pleasant dilemma.
What is that green jacket in the background? Looks great.
It's called the RST Pro Series Raid. Was £230 when John tested it in 2019: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/textile-jackets-trousers-suits/tested-rst-raid-waterproof-textile-motorcycle-jacket-and-jeans-review
Cheers, Michael
Is the Neo sports classic CB1000 dead then? Looked heaps better than the new Hornet
CFMOTO MT450 IS THE REAL DEAL...👌👍
Looks good, you own one,
Care to share more about it
Funny, I don't see _so many_ BMW GS's. If sales, year-on-year, are as high as you say I can only conclude 1 or 2 things: 1 they break or 2 their owners just don't go out and ride. I think its the second (obviously) as I do have several "biker" mates, who have GS's, but just don't ride anymore (none of us are getting any younger of course).
Yamaha maybe did the retro callback first with the 2023 60th anniversary edition R3, R7, R1?
Following on from the Kawasaki Hybrid chat... You know what engine configuration would create a lot of space for the gubbins you need with a hybrid powertrain?... Horizontally opposed twin, aka boxer. You heard it here first, and I claim royalties on any forthcomming design BMW/Kawasaki may produce.
Any tips on a first bike? I just got out of the USMC and I’m looking for something smooth and sexy… And safe because I have zero experience. Any suggestions much appreciated ✊🏼
Looking forward to seeing the new R1300RS and Ducati Supersport S with the Panigale V2 motor…. Oh they don’t exist…. Damn
