    This guy speaks from experience and answers with practicality of parts such as refusing to go carbon stem/bars after crashing.
    I also agree with his statement about disc brakes vs caliper. I have 1 caliper and 2 disc road bikes and if I was given a choice I would stick to caliper brakes. Ease of maintenance and alignment when switching wheelsets.
    He also says every bike is different and should appreciate for what it is. All bikes are good for what they are. So many new riders always asking what's the best component or what's the faster bike. We all forgetting that cycling is a sport to enjoy not to compare to others

    Saddle creak is from the Giant seat clamp. Take it apart, clean it, and add a mix of grease, and gorilla paste, and re-tighten to correct torque. I have to do this every few months.

    • @hippoace
      @hippoace 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe your seat clamp is a lemon? no creak with mine for years...I only shift it to adjust my position or swap out saddle...

      I just bought a new 2016 seatpost, because mine cracked, right at the wedge. I used carbon paste, but only tightened the bolt on the new one to 4Nm, not the max 7Nm as printed. I’ve never had mine creak, but smear grease on all threads, and mating faces on the seat clamp itself.

    Nice setup, very similar spec to my TCR, but if he insists on the excess steerer, please buy a long steerer plug!
    I too run alloy bars for peace of mind.
    I was relieved to see that mine weighs the same in an M/L size.

    Love this channel! Your TCR vids are definitely my favorite. His bike is super clean and simple. I’m currently looking for a second hand 2021 TCR in the U.S. Honestly after watching this, I really don’t mind whether I get a disc or a rim brake now, as long as the price is right lol.

    The compression plug example by durian rider is innacurate because you can always get a longer compression plug that can go well inside the head tube or have an aluminium sleeve bonded in (common solution). Problem solved.

    • @benhiamovi
      @benhiamovi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eternalarizon If you can crash hard enough to break a carbon handlebar, you can very well say that the frame and wheels would most likely also be damaged in some way. So what you mentioned still doesn't change the fact that what he said is still a major contradiction as to why he's afraid of carbon.

    Hello!
    I am in MTB for almost 2 years and I am converting to road bikes....What do you think about Giant Tcr Advanced 2016 model?
    - Is it good for beginners?
    - What is the perfect size for 1.78 cm Height?
    - Can I do packaging with the bike

    • @OompaLoompaCycling
      @OompaLoompaCycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s a decent bike for beginners. Size wise you might want to refer to giant’s website to gauge but I would assume it’s either S/M of M. Yes you can pack the bike like any other road bikes. Goodluck.
