Great video, however the quality of the Audio stinks… hoping something can be done about that!
it is not surprising that this happened. Women were to the fore in the early christian church, but were eased out, and effectively erased from places of prominence.

I think that at the Synod of Whitby they decided that women should be denied holy office, which the Celtic church had allowed and that clergy should be celibate. That would explain why women lost positions of power Of course history is written by the victors and Wilfred seemed to be a bit mysogenistic. Hilde would be one of the last women priests.

@@suzannehaigh4281 Perhaps you don't understand. These videos are not posted by Professor Roberts herself; in this case somebody has recorded the programme, perhaps straight from the TV, hence the poor audio quality. Personally, I am grateful to this person, despite the poor quality, as I am unable to watch the shows when they come out.
