Nev do yourself a favour and go to bunnings and get some 60-65mm M5 nuts and bolts. Drill a hole through the tube approx 250-300mm down and install the bolt. That way the butt sits on the bolt instead of the base of the reel

I have no idea where you're fishing at, but it's most likely somewhere in .Victoria. I know you can catch whiting in Victoria, but you rarely target them, it would be good to see you catching either some Yellow Fin or King George whiting.

Nev, Mate, I am probably the worst fisherman on the planet. Mate if you've got some tips for pier or jetty fishing, I'd most certainly appreciate it. Like best times to fish, baits, hook's. I can't catch anything large enough or legal, only little throw backs. I generally fish on the lake Macquarie area. Thanks
