I put that motor in my E-revo. The motor gets very hot. The truck has a 19t pinion. I think I'm gonna put a 17t in it to gear it down. It feels more powerful than the stock motor so I don't think I'll notice much performance difference.
I switched my rustler 4x4 to a slash 4x4 low cg chassis. I also have the adjustable Traxxas wheelie bar. I run the castle 1515 2200kv motor and Mamba Monster X esc on 6s. 26/34 mod 1 gears on a center spool. All 4 tires are the 53/107 hoons off the back of the Arrma Felony. Mine is built for speed runs so I bought some gpm low cg shocks. I swapped in XO-1 gears in the front and rear diffs and used the XO-1 axles, axle carriers and 17mm hex adapters.
I have the same set my pinion is a 17 and my spur is 36. It's crazy fast and doesn't have that much torque. You should try it, it won't wheelie as much
I found the best gearing with a 15t pinion and a 52t spur. The center diff is great for the track but with speed runs I prefer the slipper clutch so I could use a non 54t spur
it would seem the smartest person is the kid asking if it cannot go any faster than why do it… Something like that anyway he sounded like he will be an incredible person when his older. He's already smart. You should tell everyone his name he deserves credit. He's going to be the future genius
They mentioned a really long wheelie bar. I almost said a slash rear bumper but mine even with that will still go back so far it will stand up on the bumper with wheels 4" off the ground. Not so bad about back flipping. It usually comes down. You can cut a slash front bumper all the way down and make it fit pretty well too. RPM doesn't believe me.
@@calebwood8427 Ive got them. They are pretty cool how they sort of hide them. just put a set on my xmaxx too. RPM says they arent really supposed to be a wheelie bar just to protect bumper on most vehicles. Well played RPM because they usually go right on passed the wheels up on the bumpres
So same tyres (sort of, 3.3's) in my traxxas maxx i run a vxl6s with a 2200kv 6s motor and 27/46 gearing. Granted i have wide arms, suspension and axles, all that crap. It runs out of gears at 87mph on gps. Or 141kmh for metric people like myself. Heat is the only issue when you put in stupid long gears, but there's fan kits for that. I also have a slash that i keep stock (ish). Its more fun as its not so much a haandfull even though its slow.
Duratrax are the same tyre i run, only they're branded as loise in australia, probably a coptright issue or something. Anyhow, i also have a beadlock set of belted street tyres. On the high traction surfaces, yeah, theyre good, super predicable.
Man you want that thing to move put a 20t pinion and a 40t spur both mod 1 you have to make motormount slot a little longer but you should hit 100 plus thats what im running
I went with the 13t because I want it to be bashable but still fast. I’ll definitely have to give that a try for some speedruns though! 100 mph is pretty crazy!
From what I’ve seen, it looks pretty similar except for a shorter wheelbase, more plastic, and no clipless mounting. The wheelie bar does look pretty good though, and it seems like it has a lot of speed potential! I’m excited to see more about it!
What if you put some weight in the front to help keep it grounded?? Also what kind of tires are those? I'm have a rustler on the way and want to do some special mods to it.
Weight on the front doesn’t really work unless you have a ton, and if you have enough to make a noticeable difference, there’s a good chance it’ll overload the motor. I think the best solution is going to be a better wheelie bar. As for the tires, they’re the Duratrax Six Pack MT tires.
They are Duratrax Six Pack MT 2.8 belted tires with a 14mm hex. If you can though, I’d recommend the Proline Badlands MX28s instead. The six packs caused me some problems with the hexes later on, and the MX28s have held up much better.
What gearing combo should I get for my slash 4x4 vxl, im getting a center diff and I wanna change the gearing so the motor don't have to work as hard, any suggestions? I drive my car on pavement, dirt and grass
When I ran my Rustler on 3s with the diff, I geared it down to 9t and it worked pretty well. You could probably just go to 10t though. If everything runs fine, you could probably go all the way up to stock gearing.
Oops! I thought I'd replied already! I have seen people put VXL 6s systems into 2WD Traxxas cars, so a Max 8 (which is roughly the same size) probably would just barely fit. That being said though, the 2WD cars aren't nearly as tough, and having only 2 drive wheels means even more power, so you'd have to do some serious modifications to keep the thing together!
Very overgeared I'm running a rustler 4 by 4 6s 17tooth pinion. I can't put the power to the wheel. Serious ballooning and the traxxas drive shafts shredded. Stand alone back and front flips are fun while it lasted
Hehehe, *glares at 6s rustler 2wd* yours is fast but not as fast as my rc car with a 31 tooth pinion 😎 I wanna see you put a bigger pinion than that and see if you can go 100mph and beat my record.
If there were TH-cam awards, I think you would win best rising rc car channel
Haha thanks! 😀
Your car needs a really long wheelie bar if you want to go full throttle with it and really test its top speed, love your vids, keep it up!
For sure! I’ve been looking into some stiffer and bigger wheelie bars so I can really test the acceleration!
I can’t wait to see what you do for 1k subscribers

Cheese burger diss track coming sub 65 kid betttter lit go gggggghhhh
i hit 74mph on 3s 5200 on 17t with big tire like you✌️
Oh and a factory wheelie bar and belted tires
I have no idea why, but that awkward nose-manual at 4:14 seemed.. off to me lol
I don’t remember exactly how I did it, but I believe I was slightly on the brakes to keep it up.
You should put the Traxxas rustler motor in the sandy land
I’ve actually been looking for a way to do that! I hope I can. It’d be nuts!
I heard if you build a really fast car it can drive on the water
You’re right! I’ve actually managed to get this one to drive across water a few times! I bet if I got some paddles on it, I could drive on the lake.
Gear mesh adapter didn't work out for me either
i suggest putting some smaller flat tires for a speed test. Much better control and speed by careful tho rev slow.
Definitely! I love my big off road tires for bashing, but when I get serious about top speeds, I’ll 100% switch to some smaller street tires!

I’ve got something pretty awesome planned!
Have you seen the new Arma vortex so far I think it is a lot better than the Traxxas rustler.
From what I’ve seen, it looks pretty similar except for a shorter wheelbase, more plastic, and no clipless mounting. The wheelie bar does look pretty good though, and it seems like it has a lot of speed potential! I’m excited to see more about it!

As for the tires, they’re the Duratrax Six Pack MT tires.
Can you do the self righting with this setup like the stock system can?
You can, but I typically don’t because I don’t think the extra power would be good for the drivetrain!
Does that have a center diff? What if you add some super heavy diff fluid that puts more power towards the front wheels?
Yes! The fluid in it is 1 million weight, but I might want to give 2 million a go!
How long is your drive time? I have an castle motor but it doesn’t last long smh
I’ve never properly timed it but I’d say around 10 minutes.
I want to see 17/54 on 6s!
Where can i find a 13 t pinion for the rustler 4x4 vxl?
I got mine at Hobbytown.
Im running 4s on a castle copperhead and 104 is my best speed so far
104?! Wow! What tires are you running? I definitely need to give that a go with mine!
Duratrax lockup belted 3.3 with 14 mm hub
I have a Rustler XL 5 thats brush; but can it take 3s?
Its the red one...
Unfortunately no. The maximum it can do is 2s or a 7 cell NiMH.
can you put a link to the tire or where do i buy them
They are Duratrax Six Pack MT 2.8 belted tires with a 14mm hex.
If you can though, I’d recommend the Proline Badlands MX28s instead. The six packs caused me some problems with the hexes later on, and the MX28s have held up much better.

@@CHEESEBURGERRC what spur gear should I use?
I used the stock 54t one.
@@CHEESEBURGERRC ok thanks!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC what brand is the center differential?
17t pin is best
With the big tires, I’m probably running nearly the equivalent of 17t. Maybe a bit less.
What is the speed of the sandy land when going 3s?
I’m not sure! I’m looking for a GPS speed meter though, so we’ll know soon!
@@CHEESEBURGERRC okay
Is the GoPro accurate
Generally. It does have a pretty big delay, but the numbers are usually pretty precise.
Will the max 8 fit a slash. 2wd

Thanks I was just wondering if have a 4000kv max 10 in mine the one for 101$ and it only run 2s add it pretty fast I can't imagine on 3s
Why not the included 17t pinion?
Unfortunately the hole in the middle is too small to fit the new motor. Also 17t would probably be a bit overgeared.
Very overgeared I'm running a rustler 4 by 4 6s 17tooth pinion. I can't put the power to the wheel. Serious ballooning and the traxxas drive shafts shredded. Stand alone back and front flips are fun while it lasted

I have GPMs.
