    Yo! I've done this before and instead of mixing it so thoroughly, you can also rotate the piece as its being dipped, this exposes the outside to different paints and will give a more "stock camo' appearance vs. the mottled hunting camo you made. Both are nice, I'm just saying there are options. Also I recommend a hair-dryer for knockin off the water. Save your lungs lol.

      I had a fan I hanged them in front of to dry also but sometimes if the paint gets in a crevice it will leave a puddle and you wanna blow it out or it will dry like that

    Man, this looks so much better than that crap people are doing spray painting over mesh as a pattern. I've been wanting to do a camo paint job on one of my rifle's for a while. I think your method is the best way to go about it. Im going to do a few practice pieces first, then my least favorite pellet rifle. If I get it right and I'm confident, Then I'll do my good rifle. Curious how thick the paint winds up after this method. Do you feel a new texture made by the paint afterwards?

    • @wildriderz_bw
      @wildriderz_bw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you don’t clear coat it you will feel texture. But after a couple coats of clear coat the texture is gone and it’s all smooth. I recommend using a flat clear coat that’s non yellowing and don’t overdue each coat just do a couple thin coats not too thick cause it will start to yellow I’m going to be doing some more camo hydro dipping soon and play with different shades of color

    • @ralphralpherson9441
      @ralphralpherson9441 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, this is great as long as the piece is removable... (i.e. Eotech hoods, tac-light bodies, mags, etc... but it's VERY difficult to camo-dip a part that also has working parts or insides where you DO NOT want paint. For example, I use the mesh and spray method for my AR-uppers because I DO NOT want spraypaint in the channel where the BCG or charging handle goes (and for God's sake not the barrel). So you kinda have to be specific on what looks good vs. what is SAFE for the firearm.

    • @wildriderz_bw
      @wildriderz_bw  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ralphralpherson9441 I started off with stripped lower just taped off where I didn’t want the paint to go it didn’t even get on the inside. Then for the upper it was a complete upper but I took the handgaurd off and dipped it first then took the bcg out and taped off where no paint could get inside the receiver only outside.

    • @wildriderz_bw
      @wildriderz_bw  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I taped up the hole where the trigger goes in. And I did have to do a little cleaning before I clear coated it like the pin holes and the thread I cleaned up a bit with a pick. Now the tigger was catching a bit I kept having to force reset with my finger but I fixed the issue by taking the trigger out and cleaning it up around the pinholes on the inside. If you watch my 10.5” AR47 video that is actually the completed pistol with parts from this video.
