It's kind of crazy that this aircraft uses 4 of the same engines that the A320 has, only this is a twin isle that weighs more than twice as much, making it the most underpowered wide-body aircraft.
Keep in mind twins are overpowered by nature, needing the ability to continue takeoff after engine failure at V1, on one engine. And the -500 & -600 A340's, with Trent engines doubling the thrust, are not exactly slugs.
@@gmboy559 the 500 and 600 use the Trent 500 engines which are considerably more powerful than the CFM56, so can't really be compared. I watched a documentary on the 300 recently, and apparently it requires a certain runway length when at full capacity which kind of proves how underpowered they are relative to other widebody jets.
Agree, after take off the engines are kept full power for about 6 minutes!! while B777, B787 or A350 slow down engines about 2 minutes after take off, well in advance before reach cruising altitude. I can't tell about the A380, it's so smooth that often it seems to take off with engines at idle...!
Its already boring af with all those quiet next gen aircraft (787, a220, the new e jets, a350), yes they look kinda nice but they are so generic, just like modern cars When i was a boy everything was modern but there were still lots of BAe 146, md80 series, b737 with the cool eye brow windows, a340 everywhere, some md11, b747 , a300/310 Now its ALL 737/320 and 777. and the boring next gen fleets are growing and growing. even the a330 is special to me😂😂
So the engine of an a320 is an apu?😂 and actually the a340-300 thrust equals 5 a320 cfm56 engines (they are a bit weaker than the variant on the a340)😂😂😂😂
@@ZRHTrainspotter haha i know They are not underpowered but they look like they dont really take off but go directly into normal climb rate and have no initial fast climb (when heavy) like other aircraft
Isn't there a sound of a buzzer like honey bee. Unfortunately, I couldn't experience this during my journey. Because, my ears get closed as soon as the flight is about to be airborne 😉😅
Undoubtedly, one of the best sounds on take off is by the A340-300
Sounds like a A320.
Cause they use similar engines@@derkritischebeobachter8841
@@derkritischebeobachter8841Because it uses CFM56 engines.

That's why I love the airbus a340 300

LOVE SWISS AIRLINES VERY MUCH. 🥰😍🤩🥰😍🤩😇😊😉🙂😆😁😄😃😀

Wow. I thought the truck was going to back you all the way up to the runway

@@cun7us Go look what it took a 1st-gen 747 to take off, and get back to me.
@@gmboy559 what's a first generation 747 got to do with widebody jets in operation today?

6 whole minutes of TO/GA thrust power. 💪💪💪💪
It'll be a miserable day when the 340 takes its final flight. Spotting will have become that much less interesting

To?
Probably one of the east Atlantic islands due to the short takeoff. Or maybe Male
Short takeoff for a 300!
Only 28 seconds
Quad CFM56
Such a torrential engine roar. I would listen to this for hours. It will be a tragic day when the lasting a340 retires for good.

Must’ve been pretty light to takeoff like that lol.
whut they still operate 4 engined a340s..? 🤨⛽️🛢
Because it is cooler when you have 4 engines instead of only 2.
What did you expect 2 engined a340s? ^^
They are only 20 yrs old and fully paid
That plane was like, "Let's goooo!!!!!"
That's one of the steepest A340-300 takeoffs I've seen lol. Must have been light.
Yes for sure only 30min flt
The aircraft rattles like a bus on a bumpy street, when it taxies...
Every aircraft does

Yes 👍 but with credit 😁
The engines are so small must be a slow plane add two more engine so it doesn’t struggle
