      Yeah same here(adhd also) haha, but it needs more plugins. It should have speech recognition and read allowed for ease of use, with chat gpt. So u wake up and tell it what u want to do and it will set alarms when it's time to do task.

    Thanks for this video. Your guest described the history of my experience with GTD over the past decade - filling up one todo app after another with overdue tasks. Things, Omnifocus, Todoist, Notion have all come and gone for me, weighed down by a depressingly long lists of tasks that are either not done or somehow undefined but I cannot quite put me finger on the next action - until it becomes obvious and I have to stop everything to take care it immediately. Maybe AmpleNote is the promised land! I hope so.

      I'm in exactly the same situation. However, I believe this is more an ADHD problem then an app problem. My ADHD brain wants to focus on whatever it finds interesting in the current moment, and this seldom aligns with what's on my task list.
      I'm still going to give Amplenote a shot though, as I definitely like the idea of having my notes and tasks living together.

    • @dalydegagne1839
      @dalydegagne1839 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@neilr7935 I also have an ADHD brain, and that can get in the way. I have not tried a lot of the task apps because, with few exceptions, I have not seen how I could make them work for me. Also, I am an analogue kind of guy and I love my fountain pens and paper. What makes Amplenote different is I can see myself having a good way to apply GTD (which I discovered over 20 years ago) using an app which, because of its design, will allow me to use a combined analogue/digital approach to GTD/planning and some of my note taking/note making.
      And, dare I hope, may also help me to overcome some of my ADHD issues.

    Great presentation Francesco! Thank you. With an app like Amplenote it's clear that GTD is not, as some have thought, a dated system but, rather, one that is more relevant than ever and a reflection of the timelessness of David Allen's brilliance and insight creating it.
    Amplenote itself, as I am beginning to appreciate more and more, is itself a unique and highly creative approach/process which shows the continuing relevance of GTD.
    I am convinced and will now try Amplenote. Thanks again, Francesco.

    I just started using Amplenote today. I have been a fan of the GTD system for years but couldn't keep track of my long term projects properly. This allows me to set up tasks for each project and I am looking forward to using it as a Zettelkasten to allow me to do the writing I always wanted to do. I love this channel, you have introduced me to some of the best apps. What a very interesting video/app. I found it while watching your other video about using the weekly objectives in Sunsama. I have my own Momentous Planning Method that I have always used on paper but since developing shoulder pain from lugging around a huge diary have been trying to set up the same process using a digital option. I originally planned to do this with Notion but have found the learning process too lengthy (possible future project). So had recently settled on a combination of Mem (to replace my jot pad), Taskade to develop my goals and project plans, and Sunsama (or Routine to reduce the expense) to plan my days. But now by chance, I have learned of this app which seems to incorporate the best of the features of each of them and may even have some ability to hold my extensive reference materials as well.

    Watching you put Amplenote through GTD paces, I kept thinking whether those paces had analogies in Things3 (which has been my GTD tool of choice for several years). Of course, I'm not wanting to jigger-rig Amplenote's unique (and praiseworthy) capabilities into Things3. Forcing a Tool for Thought into a Task Management tool would be akin to forcing a round peg into a square hole.
    In the end, besides being interesting, your video is thought-provoking and helpful. Again, thanks.

    I don't understand, it start with jots, then notes then tasks and then schedule them. So why do you immediately start with tasks? And not jots...

    • @tristen_grant
      @tristen_grant ปีที่แล้ว

      Personal preference. You can add tasks in jots (as well as notes, etc) but if you know you're only going to be adding tasks you can go straight to the tasks section.

  • @BartvanderHorst
    @BartvanderHorst ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your inbox can not be empty in amplenote because it always shows your tasks in 'tasks' unless you have all the tasks assigned to not show on the specific day. In other words there is no real inbox in Amplenote, Unless you create a note naming Inbox and put all your todo's there. Or you think of your daily jot as a sort of inbox... And via the ! move function you move it to the destinated notes.

    • @Amplenote
      @Amplenote ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good points! In Calendar Mode, you can create a view that only shows your Inbox - that is tasks that are in your Jots. So, when moving tasks to another note (for example because those tasks are part of a Project), they will disappear from your Inbox. Another way to make them disappear is to assign them a Start Date - this moves them from the sidebar and onto the Calendar pane itself. Let us know if this makes sense.

    What's the advantage of having your calendars set up as you do -- Events, Timeblock, and Inbox? Currently I have one for Work and one for Personal.

    • @Amplenote
      @Amplenote 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching this one, Ed! One advantage of having a separate "Events" calendar is that you can make it centralize all external events and time-sensitive tasks. This means that you can check for empty slots in your schedule without leaving Amplenote (and without having to see your time-blocked tasks, which are flexible and don't represent your "availability").
      "Inbox" is great if you want a calendar-like interface for your Inbox and want to keep it separate.
      "Work" and "Personal" is also a very useful distinction, especially if you have events in both of those areas!

  • @fullpowerrolf
    @fullpowerrolf ปีที่แล้ว

    Dragging Tasks to calendar is exactly what should Not be done in GTD Right? Because we only want to use the calendar for tasks that Must be done that day (apointnents). Not tasks that could be done. Right? Or what am I missing here?

    • @Amplenote
      @Amplenote ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A bit of a late reply here, sorry about that. Indeed, GTD encourages you to only apply "due dates" to tasks that carry consequences when completed *after* that date. It's a very good rule of thumb that hopefully comes across in the video too.
      The point of dragging-and-dropping tasks on the calendar is to be able to see how your to-do list plots in time, eg how much of it you actually have time for. We start from the notion that time is the critical resource, so to-do lists *without* a calendar (the "time axis") are less useful.
      Finally, in Amplenote you can create a "Domain" that shows you only those tasks that *Must* be done that day. And another Domain for time-blocking your to-do list.
      Let us know if this makes sense?

  • @vapeurdepisse
    @vapeurdepisse ปีที่แล้ว

    What are the tools that allow me to schedule my tasks using drag and drop? Sunsama is the closest I found that actually worked well with Outlook, but it's yet another app on top of a to-do app, and it's $20 a month, lol what are they thinking.

    Thanks for this. I have looked into Amplenote in the past and it looks great both as a task manager and a note taking app.
    However it has a massive deal breaker. On Android it does not support Android share. As a result you can't use the Android share options to share a link to the app.
    It seems Amplenote are aware of this shortcoming and suggest a workaround by emailing the link to Amplenote. This feels like a cumbersome workaround.

    I am both intrigued and confused. xD I am pretty new to GTD and task management. Though, after some readings and watching, I guess it all comes down to taking the overall idea of GTD and applying it to your own system of naming convention and organising? (i.e. I was confused about the "kind" tag particularly. Why can't we have a "todo" tag by itself? Am I missing something?)

    • @Amplenote
      @Amplenote ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We think you can definitely have a "todo" tag by itself, no extra complications! That particular tag as seen in Francesco's video is used to group together all of the tags that describe "what kind of note" you're looking at. For example, you might have a note with tasks (and tag it with "todos") and a note containing birthdays (and tag it with "events"). But, to keep things slightly more organized, you can have both of those tags live in the same "parent tag", for example "kind/events" and "kind/todos".
      Please reach out to us if you have any other questions about implementing GTD in Amplenote, we'd be glad to offer as much assistance as we can.

I have quite a lot of recurring, shorter tasks (watering the plants, putting out the trash) that I only want to schedule on a certain day, not on a specific time. The task overview is not clear enough for me. I don't doubt the fact that Amplenote is a great note taking app and the thought of combining it with tasks is great, but I'm sticking with Todoist for my tasks.
