Are Levi’s 511 Selvedge Jeans worth the $128 price tag? I put these slim-fit jeans to the test to find out! As a lifelong Levi’s fan, I was excited to try their premium selvedge denim that promises the fit and comfort I love with a modern stretch twist. What’s your favorite stretch selvedge jeans?
I think for stretch denim it’s better to go for non-Selvedge. Stretch denim is taking over the non-Selvedge market. We don’t want to see this happening with Selvedge denim.
I like 100% cotton, much better fit
@@stevemorano9317 Nice and breathable too. 👍
@ haha! Def
Great review
Thanks so much!
Great review. I was considering a pair of these - glad to know they are not worth it. Love my Brave Stars and my Naked and Famous, but also grew up wearing Levis.
I have a pair of Brave Stars and they’re great!
I just recently bought 505 Selvedge Levis and I pretty much agree with everything you said here. I like Levis, the sizing and comfort is consistent but the price was just a tad more than they are worth. I dont hate them, they are comfortable but Id say the price point should be right around 100 normally.
I agree. $100 would be a much more realistic price.
I appreciate the video. I was literally looking at these jeans online yesterday and was curious about them. Thanks for the information.
Absolutely! 👍
@ Just pulled the trigger on these. They are 30% off right now. Felt more comfortable dropping $89 on them as opposed to $128. I already have a few pairs of the 511 stretch jeans in different colors, so going with comfort above all else.
@@niks7643$89 is definitely a fair price in my opinion.
I may purchase a pair of 511 selvedge jeans.
Looks like they're on sale right now. I should have waited!
The 501 cotton/hemp blend is the best selvedge offering, sure they're not the exact same but the quality is good.
I was wondering how that cotton/hemp blend fared. Good to know!
I just snagged some selvedge hemp blend 512s and they let me double coupon for $50. Should be a good starter pair.
@@ohitika Very nice!
Toughest part of selvedge jeans may not be the breakin but the blue dye bleeding all over…more of that occurs in unsanforized jeans.
True! I’ve stained some nice boots that way.
I was surprised to hear you say that their sizing is consistent. I find Levis the most inconsistent sizing of any brand. I think it depends on the factory the jeans come from.
Probably since they're made in multiple countries. Maybe I've been lucky, or maybe the stretch just helps.
I require at least a little bit of elastic in my selvage because makers don't make zip flies for 100% cotton jeans, and I can't be bothered with button flies. I have several pairs of Hiroshi Kato jeans, which have 5% elastane; they're super comfortable on first wear, but they don't give quite the same electric blue fades as pure denim. I'm also breaking in a pair of Nudies with 2% elastane, which feels like the right compromise to me.
I have a pair of Katos and I like them a lot. 👍
I really dig the Selvidge 501's shrink to fit and wear them in the bath. See link below! Thanks for the video. I love all my Levi's Jeans and always wear them on stage. Cheers

Nice! Getting that custom fit!
1955, 1954, 1966 are spot on and quality.
Excellent! 👍👍
I think whoever's in charge of pricing Levis in California is probably living way too close to a large marijuana field.
Indeed! 😂
@@StrayReviews What bothers me more than the price is the shrinking of the pockets including the 5th pocket.
Actually $128 is for those not looking for a deal, mentioned they go on sale often, 505 and 501 at 75-80 usd online... so if you see $128 just wait unless you are desperate to buy
Communist state
I would get the Gustin 1968 Slim. They are made in the USA from USA material that was made for Levi. Much better bang for your buck, and closer to classic Levi's. Then again.... I always advocate for anything but Levi.... even though I still think the Gustin is a better buy.
I’ve been impressed with the Yokohama Standard and have been considering picking up the 1968s.
@ I like both the 1968 and the Okayama. I will say I prefer the Okayama over the Cone. I find them to be a tad softer and they are fading much faster. I’m actually sitting in them right now. But I am happy I have both. Need a pair of those 1968’s before the denim is all used up!
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Nice! 👍👍
Modern with stretch and zip fly!
👍👍
I think most of us love our Levi’s, especially our made in the US vintage Levi’s. I know I do. But you’re right, these jeans are asking too much money. If it’s just the look you’re after, then Uniqlo would scratch that inch for way cheaper.
Only $49.90 for the Uniqlo. Nice!
Recommendation...Don't buy at $128..... sales are often and frequent 40-50% off... I bought at 75-80 USD Online... bought the 505 and 501... just this last Black Friday and after xmas...bought 4 @ 33 waist and size consistent
Nice! Next time, I’m waiting for a sale!
