The Wooded Beardsman did you know in Africa there is reportedly a cactus that if burnt is very deadly. I can't remember if the smoke is deadly or the chemicals it places on food or both. Love your channel man!
CHINESE COMMUNISTS ARE TAKING OVER CANADA - YOU SIT IN THE WOODS. YOUR SON WILL BE WORKING FOR CHINA MEN FOR 3 DOLLARS AN HOUR - AND YOU LETTING IT HAPPEN ??? Bob,s a wizard and one smart man very wise and a good teacher.World need,s more like him.GREAT VIDEO YOU DO GOOD WORK and are amazing in your ability to adapt to all area,s and learn the skill,s.VERY GOOD.
Many who have never been in this situation don't realize how much a person begins to crave fat and carbohydrates after a week or so of eating wild game with a limited amount of fat. Even the wild pigs have surprisingly little fat. Humans are omnivores. That doesn't just mean we can choose to eat vegetable matter, it means our systems actually require the carbs and sugars found only in plants. After being in the woods for nearly a month eating fish and river muscles, and an occasional dove, when I got home all I wanted to eat for several days was green beans and bowls and bowls of rice ... and carrots - I couldn't eat enough carrots and I'm usually pretty neutral about carrots. The interesting thing about all of this is the cravings. Our bodies have a separate mind of their own, and communicate their dietary needs to us by way of these cravings. It's not just about calories. If your diet consists mostly of lean protein your body will begin to pass a large portion of it, unused, indicated by a stool the consistency of river mud. This means you aren't actually using all the calories available in the meat. One trick is to watch the pigs and where they go to "root" around in the dirt. Pigs are experts at finding tubers and other sources of carbs hidden under the dirt.
I watch all the way thru and rewatch many times. Your channel has many diffrent things i love watching from cooking , camping , bushcraft, exploring, hot tenting , ice fishing many things. I love it
It's rare I don't skip the last 30 seconds or so of a video. You are one of the few channels I watch that I watch until the very end, just because you ask. Thanks for the amazing content and I look forward to future videos and seasons of the wilderness challenge.
This whole video series reminds me of when your friend from school talks up how fun their house is, and then invites you over for a sleepover but when you get to their, there is nothing to do and y'all faking that you're having fun, but really your ready to leave.
Great contest, really highlights the need not to be picky! If you haven't read the book Minerva Reef I'd recommend it, it's in line with how you survive in extreme situations.
It's interesting that it doesn't take long for people to start experiencing protein starvation from the lack of fat and carbohydrates. At least they're getting enough potassium for all of the ash they are eating.
Yeah they could refill some of that if they were down to risk eating more brains. Definitely more risky when eating mammals but any kind of fish brain and head is full of fat.
Can't believe your collabing with Bob one of my other favourite wilderness TH-camrs. Been watching both of you separately never thought you two would be together . Very cool
great spice recipe for the kitchen or car camping. On the backpacking trail ive found that onion powder, cumin, and paprika offer good, yet very subtle flavors, and it's more space and weight effective to pack only the heavy hitting spices, and use less of them to taste. for seasoning meat, mix the spices with some wheat flour for much coverage. Gotta get some beard hairs in there too, adds texture.
Yes another fine video from my favourites Chris and Bob, That cat fish looked appetising with or without the ashes I have caught a few in my time but they go straight back in the lakes, rules of club waters, keep eating lads, Chris give your knife a sharpening man lo. Thanks for sharing. Regards to you both. 👍👌🇬🇧
im huge fan of your channel and watched alot of your videos and the first two seasons more than once. but this season does not feel like a series at all. its more like a random videos of eatings. idk why. maybe because of too much editings. maybe because of there is no sense of morning evening nights. no camp. or a little maybe because you and jer were old friends, there was very good chemistry between the two of you. anyway im not trying to complain. im watching all these videos fully and liking them. just saying my opinion.
right, i think he should put the time of day somewhere when he edits, or just make each day an episode. it is probably also because he does not know texas land as well, but sense of time has really been messing with me.
I dont know..while I do see your point, I kinda like Bob and his reserved personality. It's definitely not the same, but I wouldnt say it's worse in any way.
1:20 - Random thought - Why would any animal wander into the trap for the corn when there are plenty on the floor from the overhead trap?, next time set the overhead trap further away!. cheers.
congratulations on passin 300k subs man!! i've been watching your videos since your bone marrow video and i've watched all your survival challenges at least twice! Keep up the good work
I'm late to this party but loving it. Grew up peeling catfish but now just scrape the slime off. Similar but easier than scaling a crappie. Eat the skin or not after cooking.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ❤️ i had the flu and all I did was watch you until I got better it took 6 weeks to get better but watching you It felt like an hour ❤️ thank you for what you do
This entire thing is making me really, really hungry. I grew up in wild caught game, and for me the smell of Christmas it the smell of homemade venison jerky, smoked pheasant and a wild turkey in the oven. I know you guys are doing a challenge to not lose weight but if I keep watching this I'm gonna gain weight, because I really am getting so dang hungry seeing all of this game you're catching!
Random tip about Catfish - If you happen to catch a barb in the hand the easiest way to stop the burning/pain is to rub the wound on the catfishes belly. The slime they produce neutralizes it in seconds.
......awesome, Beardsman.....!.....shnazzy how your territory is expanding......from Ontario to the Dominican, to Texas.......ADOBO.....!.......hope you're doing well, chief.......enjoy watching the ventures........learning a lot.........
Lmao yup canadian humor awsome videos guys and gals. Cant wait to see two videos a week. Glad Bob is doing better and was able to do this series. Thank you.
About the body knowing what it needs, I remember reading about a shipwreck survivor who was living off of fish, (lean protein) but after a few weeks started wanting to eat eyeballs, guts, brains, etc. Because his body needed the vitamins and fats in the fish offal.
I discovered that seasoning makes a difference in how you tolerate meat like opossum, it can be pretty good when you season to taste and when you get bored just change it up. I carry salt and pepper, garlic pepper, and cinnamon...sometimes hot sauce. Smoke some, grill some, stew it, and even pan fry when it has some fat...opossum fat is great for frying the lean meat add your seasong AFTER frying for more taste.
Catfish is a trashfish. Down here in Texas it's like if you can't cook a cat, you are trash😂😂 honestly that looked so nice and flakey. I have had it cooked on open coals like that, pure love. Some lemon and some tonys, purreee genius! So glad seeing it be cooked this simple wonderful way

Love your channel man!
If u cut the tail of it will bleed out

I would absolutely love to have you come to Virginia so we can share some adventures in the Shenandoah valley and river area!!

“Bob recommended not eating seeds, but I am anyway,”
*Bob slowly smirking in backround*
He regretted it later... :)
He was slow on the uptake about the ASH. Good piece of ASH! LOL That ASH was edible. Good one.
5280 Adventures i dont get it
I don't get it
kgell patterson r/wooosh
5280 Adventures It sounded as if he were saying A$$ instead of Ash so lol
HAHAHAHA
Huck just steals every scene he's in, doesn't he? His facial expressions crack me up.
JusBidniss who is huck?
Jordan Simpson I think Huck is the dog
lol He always looks at whatever human that is around him with a look that says "silly human"..
Yeah, Huck's an old soul. Definitely the wisest one there.
That is because Huck is thinking "Silly humans out here starving when there is perfectly good kibble at the house."
It's great how the Beardsman learns-by-doing in this series with some instruction from Hansler.
gotta love a little ash eatin'
eating ash
good piece of ash
hot assh all over my face :-)
Eric Proulx Be careful, some ash can have borers. Not good to have your ash bored...
That whole bit about eating ash...Very mature, Mister Beardsman. XD I still laughed, though.
Also, you make catfish roe sound awesome...
Bob,s a wizard and one smart man very wise and a good teacher.World need,s more like him.GREAT VIDEO YOU DO GOOD WORK and are amazing in your ability to adapt to all area,s and learn the skill,s.VERY GOOD.
the turkey call/answer at the end was awesome

You know!
Humans can't live on lean tissue alone. In a plant poor environment fat is the bulk of one's energy.
That dog just sitting in the water. 😂
Please don't eat the dog.
dog is good for mens testosterone.
@jigga jaw dog isnt too bad a bit chewy
I live in Texas and would love to spend time hangin with Bob learning what he knows...that's one smart guy
Bob's a great teacher!
I watch all the way thru and rewatch many times. Your channel has many diffrent things i love watching from cooking , camping , bushcraft, exploring, hot tenting , ice fishing many things. I love it
You had me dying when you were eating the catfish skin and messing with Bob about eating ash. I totally laughed my ash off!
It's rare I don't skip the last 30 seconds or so of a video. You are one of the few channels I watch that I watch until the very end, just because you ask. Thanks for the amazing content and I look forward to future videos and seasons of the wilderness challenge.
Looking forward to Bob's videos. All is quiet on his channel so far...
This whole video series reminds me of when your friend from school talks up how fun their house is, and then invites you over for a sleepover but when you get to their, there is nothing to do and y'all faking that you're having fun, but really your ready to leave.
Boil the fish heads! Or, use for bait!
Good call!
Put on the cage trap
I like the way you always comment from a scientific perspective. Furthermore it's clearly paramount the respect for nature in your videos.
keep doing these The Wooded Beardsman
Great contest, really highlights the need not to be picky! If you haven't read the book Minerva Reef I'd recommend it, it's in line with how you survive in extreme situations.
I can honestly say that you are one of my favorite TH-camrs and one of the only ones I watch ads for, keep it up 👍
You make some of the best videos on TH-cam. So happy I found you!
Had errands this past Friday, but now i have time to watch you guys! Whoot, whoot!
Boiled roe is delish .. just a touch of lemon mmmm . What about possum kebabs with wild veg.
Is it weird that I love seeing the food eating? Like I am watering the whole time 😁
Love watching your videos. So insightful
My favorite in the series so far! Love me some catfish!! You & Bob make a good team! Can’t wait for the rest.
“Burn the hate off!!”
Super bone dry.
Your cheeky face when you got bob with that ash joke.
Awsome series man. The 2 new episodes a week is perfect and I'm loving the Texas adventure!
It's interesting that it doesn't take long for people to start experiencing protein starvation from the lack of fat and carbohydrates. At least they're getting enough potassium for all of the ash they are eating.
Yup, the sugar low hits hard and fast!
Yeah they could refill some of that if they were down to risk eating more brains. Definitely more risky when eating mammals but any kind of fish brain and head is full of fat.
You guys are my favorite!!! Loving the wilderness living challenge!! So badass that you came down to Texas
Use the catfish head for trapping and guts for fishing for other catfish or also as trap bait
Can't believe your collabing with Bob one of my other favourite wilderness TH-camrs. Been watching both of you separately never thought you two would be together . Very cool
Catfish is the lakewater tuna
(I called it lakewater because fresh water is used for consumption)
Rodigo Duterte mr dutarte can you come to america so you can clean up the streets?too many criminals

Great video. Love seeing bob's stuff, and the great videos you do Wood Beard. Thank you.
Nothing like a fine piece of ash to set your day off right. Bob was playing the straight man as your brains were fried. Love you guys!
"Canadian humor"lol
Heck yeah, out with Bob Hansler! He's a good fella
Indeed DONT FORGET THE WINGS!! *A GREAT PIECE OF ASH LMAO*
Great episode, the catfish looked like a welcome change of food. I'm looking forward to the next video!
Huck Is a thicc loaf
I love the way you guys do the show. Harvest from the land in the most humane way possible. Just like how my dad (who's from Texas) taught me.
Those catfish look delicious 😋
My favorite survival ,catch and cook channel on TH-cam. Keep it up man!
Best part of Fridays 😎
I hope Bob is getting a bunch of new subscribers two! Love watching both of you! Haven’t missed an episode!!!
That dog is cool too man. Did you feed him the head of the catfish ? 😂
I like the dog... He/she is being zen in the river while Bob butchers a cat.
Good one like always.

Can't beat ash👌
Yes another fine video from my favourites Chris and Bob,
That cat fish looked appetising with or without the ashes I have caught a few in my time but they go straight back in the lakes, rules of club waters, keep eating lads, Chris give your knife a sharpening man lo. Thanks for sharing.
Regards to you both.
👍👌🇬🇧
Those weren’t fire ants by the way they appear to be harvester ants at 5:11
opezskiller Agreed, definitely Harvester.
Fire ants have small red heads and thorax, with black abdomen
i love watching these videos. full of wisdom and beauty
im huge fan of your channel and watched alot of your videos and the first two seasons more than once. but this season does not feel like a series at all. its more like a random videos of eatings. idk why. maybe because of too much editings. maybe because of there is no sense of morning evening nights. no camp. or a little maybe because you and jer were old friends, there was very good chemistry between the two of you. anyway im not trying to complain. im watching all these videos fully and liking them. just saying my opinion.
no camping. i think they're staying in Bob's place
right, i think he should put the time of day somewhere when he edits, or just make each day an episode. it is probably also because he does not know texas land as well, but sense of time has really been messing with me.
I don’t know. To me the difference makes sense due to the fact that he’s in Texas and not Canada for this series.
Yup. I feel the same way
I dont know..while I do see your point, I kinda like Bob and his reserved personality. It's definitely not the same, but I wouldnt say it's worse in any way.
Excellent videos. Tuesday and Friday's can't come fast enough.
Nice vid
Love the series with Bob! Thanks for sharing this !

This reminds me of climbing at elevation (above 12k feet). You don't realize that you're getting slower and slower, but you keep on moving.
