Sean and Liam look over a fan favourite faction in Rivendell.
will they make some absolute howlers of opinions?

I will say that while Glorfindel is amazing, I don’t think he’s top of S Tier, because of the fact that he’s only strength 4 with no modifier outside of Lord of the West meaning he can bounce off high defence armies and get bogged down. That and his massive point cost means you can easily put yourself in a situation where your army is low might and low damage output, alongside low numbers. Whereas GilGalad has a way to regain might and is much more reliable damage dealer, and Elrond has wrath to really crack a shieldwall
Fair points for sure, though I still feel S tier for Glorfindel, he can two hand to make up that killing power, and with fight 7 he'll still likely win that fight. He also offers a slightly cheaper power house for Rivendell, meaning you can take him and Cirdan pretty easily and not pay too much more than Gilly or Elrond and get the huge benefits of those two together

Gilly with 2 fate and leggy with 3 attacks in the next errata or i riot.

I often run Erestor as my second striker at 600pts and thereabouts btw. He's very solid, always impresses. 2 will and 2F D7 pop up often and re rolls to wound complements the throwing weapon nicely. At bigger points my second strike character if i think I need one is more often Galadriel or Isildur.
I love Erestor, very keen to run him my next Riv list! He's just such a solid state line!

Didn't mean my comment in a disrespectful manner, I do find it incredibly interesting hearing peoples' differing opinions on models.
It speaks highly of the balance of the game that there is often not a cut-and-dry list of terrific & terrible models, and that people can have varying success with different heroes.
From that video there were 1 or maybe 2 models that I would argue for objectively incorrect placement (Knight of Umbar), but the rest that I personally disagreed with I could at least understand and respect your reasoning.
Mate, don't worry we didn't take it as a disrespectful. We very much enjoy and wanna hear about everyone's thoughts and opinions within the game. That is why we do these videos, to spark a conversation.
Keep the comments coming especially if you disagree with any of our placements.

have enjoyed watching these rankings! :) just one question as i'm confused as hell. Elladan and Elrohir come as a pair and have identical stats, so a bit confused why you said Elrohir was D tier and Elldan A tier.

Funny to see you two gushing over glorfindel. I don't know if it's to do with being in the UK but I was wondering why I don't see him often and the general answer is "He's not Elrond or Gil Galad"
Fair enough, I think he brings a little better value for an incredible statline. I also appreciate he's a hero that can easily go toe to toe with Azog or Bolg who are two heroes I hate with a burning passion 😅

Agree with the list mostly, interesting that you split the twins lol. I do agree that Glorfindel having blood and glory would be mint.
We split the Twins as a dumb joke cause they have the exact same profile.
Glorf would be crazy if he had blood and glory, he kill a balrog so surely he should have it.

@@NoobsandMen touching on your elf magic. I think from now on having Cirdan in a list with the other top three is just a must. I've had a fair bit of luck with him being in the list he just gives the elves so much with both of his Auras going at the same time.
I'm going to take your recommendation of two elf banners now and give it a crack.
He really does bring so much to the list as a support hero
Also two banners is absolutely golden at higher points, keen to hear what you think there

Glad you put Gil-galad in S tier otherwise…. Unsubscribe lol. Also my Rivendell I run Gilly and Elrond with Elrond as army leader. (How is this legal lol?) That way Gil-galad can run around and murder everything and your leader helps take more knights and has 3 rerollable fate.

I always struggle to fit the twins into a list. Has anyone found a points level and hero combination that works out nicely? After you take a suitable leader, and a small hero with march like an elf/Numenor captain or Gildor + (trying to find space for Cirdan) I struggle to find the points for the twins and still have decent numbers or max out warband slots. What about taking them on foot with just heavy Armour assuming you still have a relatively big mounted hero elsewhere?
Scrap the small hero with march
don't build your list around March.
I very rarely if ever build my list around having a hero with march in it (useful but overated).
If a hero I choose happens to have march then hey that cool but even then odds are it never gets used unless I'm in a tight spot.
You could very easily run a Rivendell list with elrond and the twins and then spam riv knights or just run an all foot Rivendell (you don't always need mounted heros). 90% of the time a Rivendell list will have low numbers so your not gonna be maxing out warbands.
My usually Rivendell list builds, 600pts and up start with elrond and the twins and then I bring in glorf as the pts lvl increase.

Honestly I'd happily run one of them as the army leader, they can do a lot of damage themselves and then add someone like a captain or Erestor or Cirdan, rather than blow so many points on an Elrond or Gilly or Glorfindel.

A Rivendell captain could actually lead a 300 point or 400 point army, so powerful.
I wiped out almost an entire army with Gil-Galad and Elendil This was a 500 point army.
I haven't listened to the whole video but I am already asking these questions in case you won't answer all of them in the video:
1. How do you play Rivendell at lower points (around 500 pts) when you can only afford to take 2 heroes and around 20 elves? I am always struggling with the low numbers and the lack of killing potential due to the low numbers which make it difficult to create situations in which you can fight 2 handed.
2. How do you protect Gil-Galad from magic?
We kind of touch on Rivendell at lower points but it is hard, low points riv Knights is still viable, if a little more cheesy as you have to kite your opponent much more with bow fire. You could also take Erestor and Cirdan, relying on Aura of Dismay to stop you opponent from counter charging and letting you pick your fights much better. Or you could attempt an all hero list, very risky but can also be very killy.
Gilly and magic is a little more difficult but given his access to blood and Glory and that his might is rarely going to be used on strikes and what not, don't be afraid to use heroic resolve if you're in a position that you think magic will mess you up, it's not the greatest defence against magic but it does give you a better chance overall

Depends on the heroes you pick really, at 500 you really have to be careful you're not spending all your points on heroes, roughly 1/3rd is where I like to sit but with Rivendell you're likely hitting half your points on heroes alone which really drops your troop numbers a lot.

Can Elronds Renew be used on Gil-Galad? As a sort of healer? Maybe that 1 fate might not be an issue then. Does cut army down though. But tried these two in a 600pt army and they were so good. Gil Galad taking out a troll and carrying the army.
Yeah man you can use elronds renew on gil galad. Thought I'd probably want access to wrath of the bruinen more.

Great Job guys, totally agree. BUT the list, low point, elrond and mono-knight Is such a finger in the backdoor to deal with. I just played against them recently....
Oh mate any Rivendell knight list is an absolute pain to go up against, I 100% feel ya. I was lucky to Draw a game against a Rivendell knight list on the top table of a tournament, but sweet Jesus was it a task.

Firmly believe Cirdan should be fortitude in a pure Rivendell force. It would make Rivendell a little bit more viable at below 500 points.

Both are great armies.
If you can't decide go with rule of cool, choice the models you think are the most interesting as that will help you get through the painting side of it aswell.

Galadhrim and Mirkwood excluded from last alliance under Gil Galad's command makes sense. They didn't listen to him, and they took no further part after that disastrous attack.
Still would make sense some stayed with him, tho there isn't any heroes in either of those armies that would make sense to lead any of their forces, maybe just captains or something

Thing is, in the movies the Last Alliance only showed the High Elves and Men so that’s “The Last Alliance” in game.
But GW have gone out if their way to bring book characters into the game like Imrahil and the twins for example or whoe factions like Wosers and Khand. This game is has always been a mix between books and movies

@@NoobsandMen The "Warriors of the Last Alliance" sprues are from the original FotR box game release in 2001 and they seem to be hesitant to add anything to it for some reason. Maybe they don't have the rights to the Second Age except what's explicitly in the movie or something.
I don't think they've updated or added a single Second Age model since that original release.
Believe me we're aware hahaha doesn't mean that when they updated and added the alliance matrix that they couldn't have had a more diverse alliance with those models and factions in mind!

The problem is that she was really abused early in the edition being put into any army she could be, her and cirdan coped a nerf being made minor heroes meaning they can't lead many troops which really limits your options with them
