How does the Cheneau-Gensingen scoliosis brace reduce the curve of the spine?

The Cheneau-Genisingen brace helps straighten the spine with a three point counter force design. We have a patient with a curve in the thoracic region of the spine. Practitioners will focus on the primary curve and use counterforces to push the opposite way and correct the curves. These forces will help straighten the spine and aid in head and pelvis correction.
The Cheneau-Gensingen brace reduces the possibility of progression, attempts stabilization and reduction of the current spinal curvature.
- Navya’s thoracic spine went from 32 to 23 degrees in-brace
- Her lumbar spine went from 37 to 27 degrees in-brace
- Navya is now in her second Cheneau brace

Practitioner Ray shows what the brace does, pointing out the counter force area opposite the thoracic push. The pad on Navya’s right side pushes on the thoracic spine. The saddle on the left side under her armpit is the counter force to this push.
Navya’s brace also contains a lumbar push at her waist from the left, with the counterforce on the opposite side. There is no pad in the lumbar push areas.
