- A colonoscopy is a procedure that involves an examination of the entire colon and requires bowel preparation and sedation. Screening tests are done to detect or prevent cancer in asymptomatic patients; when concerning signs or symptoms are present, diagnostic testing should be performed. There are a number of stool-based, endoscopic, or radiologic tests available for Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, though choice may be driven by patient preference and local availability. Watch this video to learn about the purpose and benefits of the exam, how the colonoscopy procedure is performed, and the potential risks and complications.
You know the test is dangerous if you have to sign a paper beforehand so that the Dr is not held responsible for tearing your colon.
In my country, it will not work. If you kill someone's relative, you will deal with his brother or father 😂😂😂
Don’t do unless you have blood in stool, period!
Why ? Explain , please
Use the Colorace system
I gotta get 1 next month. I should b scared of if they find anything but I aint scared of the procedure
Now my appointment is in February
Better to be scared and get it done .....before it could be too late! I got one and I am very relieved, I am 60....It did not hurt and I was awake during the procedure. 7 polyps....waiting for the results. The thought and sound of it really can scare you but the procedure worked out fine.@@alfonsogreen2722

If there is a slight perforation or any other abnormaity, is the dr require by law to approse the patient? Who would know it it was a slight mishap?
I have diverticulitis and extremely afraid of perforation. It happens more than they tell you .
Colonoscopy is a painless procedure without any sedation. I just had one and it was an awesome experience seeing my colon on the big screen and chatting with the doctor. Anesthesiologists don't want you to know the truth. It would put them out of business.
Wait? You weren't on sleep the whole time? I had two and they completely put me on sleep.
@@Cici_mimi It's true. I had nothing. Got to experience watching it live on the big screen and conversing with the doctor. He removed 4 pylops and had to cauterize one large pylop. There is no feeling inside your colon.he used a water or fluid method so you're not blown up with gases. You realize then just hiw much the anesthesia is a money racket and they ought to be called out on this. If anesthesia is the only way to get people in there so be it. Unfortunately they push people to be sedated. I had to put my foot down about going with unsedated. There's a you tube showing a gastroenterologist becomes the patient and has an unsedated colonoscopy pain free. He's talking to the doctor and comments Have you found my wife's shoes in there anywhere? 😆 🤣 They don't want people to know the truth because the Healthcare industry is a business.
Who cares about the pain. It's the humiliation
@@paulajohnson6409Yes and so did everyone else in the room. Watching someone shove a hose up your butt. No thank you
How much does it cost?
If they cause a perforation leading to sepsis, then the cost is CNN potentially your life.
Other than that though, “a colonoscopy is totally safe.”

Around 5k to 8k. It’s a doctors bread and butter procedure. You pay for their new car and mansion.
Yes, and recognize that recent recommendations for screening colonoscopy for the early detection of colorectal cancer are all people over 50 years of age in the United States. How many people in the United States living are 50 years of age and over? Fifty five million!! That is a huge financial market net. Think about it.
Enough for the Dr. to buy a new car. And that's what this is all about drs making money. This is so unnecessary
This test is a roll of the dice. You can go in for this preventative test and come out fine, die, be diagnosed with cancer or pollups, or end up with a perforated bowel that could affect you for the rest of your life. Are you feeling lucky?
I believe there are too many risks involved. If there's no blood in stool, I'd skip this test

I understand your concerns but it's important to keep in mind that you can be asymptomatic even with adenomatous polyps and different types of serious IBDs that can lead to cancer. Stage 2-3 of colorectal cancer can go unnoticed until it reaches late-stage 4 and by then it's often too late. If you're over 45, do not skip having a screening colonoscopy. The risks are extremely low and the benefits far outweigh any potential risks and the chances of facing complications that come from NOT having one are relatively much greater.
@@e.b.4379 I'll pass. But thanks 👍
thanks but im still panicking im scared my innards aren't strong enough of the gas... and I dont what to be awake for a snake goin up my hole, though its probably safer for me...and im getting a combination endoscopy. do they put people to sleep for that? ehhhhhh
I felt no pain whatsoever they gave me an IV ...I am 60 and I was awake for the procedure....7 polyps, I feel very relieved. Waiting for the results and I am really glad I got it done.
Most hospitals knock you out but deep sedation doesn't seem to be popular in Boston. I get conscious sedation which puts me to sleep anyway, but I'd love to count backward from 10 and go right out.
This level of vocal fry is socially unacceptable.
To many risks not enough benefits for me to ever get this money making procedure.

this is hell
Then don't do it. I know I'll never do one. I'm not going to make a dr richer. And that's the only reason they push this unnecessary procedure
