      Yes these videos are great informative demos. The first beat that I would play on this set would be : La Cumparsita (Tango). The beat is a great way to find machine gunning and too short sample fades on a digital kit.

      My first would be some Boston. There is just something about that band the grabs me deep down in my soul. Boston was and still is a necessity on road trips. Also I have liked and subscribed in would definitely like to see more videos like this. I would like to see this kit put through its paces. Also, If you can, talk about some of its quirks and features such as the new high hat and has it gotten better from the last generation. Have a good one bro!!

      To be honest though, this guy could sell ice to Eskimos. He does do great reviews, but they're pretty biased. You need to really do your research to find the negatives about any of these kits, and then come to your own conclusions.

    I just bought one of these last week, along with the Alesis drum monitor. I am super super happy with the purchase. This kit is freaking awesome. It feels so realistic, it sounds great, it plays great. But god damn $3000 after the kit, the monitor and taxes. Luckily I already have a hi hat stand and kick pedal. I use to always tell people that if you're going to spend that kind of money on an e-kit, go with a Roland, but I am more than happy with this.

      @davidb.8948 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, but you are getting a comparable kit to a $5000 Roland kit. You could prob always upgrade the snare and ride to the Roland, if you really wanted even more dynamics. But as a long time drummer, this kit more than fits the bill and is worth every penny.

      I just bought this kit last week. When I set up the hi-hat, I noticed that the thick rubber piece was sticking inside of the bottom of the top cymbal every time I pressed down on it. So I looked closely at the photos in the assembly guide. I then realized that the piece is slightly tapered, and the wider end needs to face up. This solved my problem. So in Nick's video, he actually set it CORRECTLY when he took it apart and put it back together.

  • @alfiend331
    @alfiend331 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have an old Roland TD-10 that still works, but has its limitations. I've been looking into the Alesis Strike Pro SE kit because it looks amazing the the price point is a tolerable. I've heard nothing but horror stories about the hi hats. Just tonight, I played a set at a local retailer and the hi hats didn't work properly at all. The rest of the kit was AMAZING and a HUGE improvement over my old 20-year old Roland set. I was curious to see the great Nick D'Virgilio (huge fan!) play this Alesis set and demo the hi hats...but you BARELY touched the hatsl!!! I'm left not knowing what to think. I don't want to spend $3500 and have a kit that doesn't really work.

    GREAT REVIEW!!!
    I'm stuck on my used DM10?? But it's pretty AMAAZING since I own EVERY expansion for BFD! :) Some pads aren't all that responsive...and what's a fella gotta do to get TWO 3-zone ride connections?? I had (3) triple zones? Now 2...but none work (ed) as well as the one in the DM10 module for the ride? Even inside the Alesis Trigger I/O. It's decent, but not as fluid.
    anyways...I ramble.
    Those non-traditional drums sound SLICK! But I like to experiment....
    THANKS FOR TEH REVIEW

    I'm having a nightmare with my Strike Pro module, one day about 8 months after getting it, the bass drum output went dead. Took me like two and a half months to get a response from Alesis, finally they sent me a new module. And wouldn't you know it, it was dead, would not turn on, outlet ok, bought a new power cord, nothing. DOA. Again had trouble getting a response, finally they will be sending me a second new sound module. I asked them to please test it this time around, so it's been arduous and slow, but they are making it right. But going on my third module (never abused) doesn't inspire confidence in the product.

    How does the bass drum feel? What are the “room” sounds, i.e, what kind of noise do the pads and that “bass drum” make in the room? How adjustable is the rack? How responsive are the heads? Can you do a buzz roll on the snare? Can you choke the cymbals?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, WhyTheHorseface! These being mesh heads, they are the truest you will find to an acoustic drum kit in terms of feel. In my experience, mesh tends to provide slightly more bounce than standard mylar heads - you can certainly do a buzz roll on the snare. You will still hear the drums being played acoustically, but it is about 10% the volume of a typical acoustic kit, if that. The rack is adjustable - you can sprawl the drums out wider, and lower the toms and cymbals on the rack. And yes, the cymbals can be choked.
      Thanks for the interest!

    excellent walk through. Wish I could verify the hi-hats capabilities in just a tad bit more detail, but it seems to work ok? I was curious about the size of the drum mat underneath the kit. is that like the typical 6.5' x 5.5' (or so)?

  • @garyd250

    Does the kit come in other finishes? Golden Maple wood tone would really make this kit shine.

      I disagree. The wider end goes up, as in the photo in the assembly guide. If you put the narrow end up, it sticks inside the underside of the cymbal, causing triggering problems. It took me a week to figure this out. So Nick actually put in on correctly when he put it back together in the video, whether he realized it or not.
