      @Jamis Ins I've had mine for almost two years and I hit pretty damn hard. Chewed threw sticks in around six to eight hours of play on my acoustic (not insane by any means). Like all companies lemons exist.

      @Jamis Ins bro you got the lower end model. The SE had had a solid reputation. Way better than the first Pro from a few years back. Crimson isn't even the same park. It's like comparing the iPhone 4 to the 11 max

    Just ordered from Sweetwater. They gave me a great deal on this set + the Tama Iron Cobra hi hat stand and double kick pedal, with a throne for $2671 shipped. Cant wait. Much better than the 5k Roland kit, and totally better value. One thing youtube is missing is just people playing along with music to get an idea how the drums really sound. Will be doing that even though it wont be monetized

    • @VermontPrepper
      @VermontPrepper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I'm going to do a video. Blows away top of line Roland. I am adding some small 10 in Nitro cymbals to use as splashes. Using a splitter.cable.and tom rim for the triggers. I called alesis and they said it would work. Went a little crazy and got the Bose Model 1s with B2 bass module for a PA. Got an s1 pro for a monitor but dont like as the kick is too bright. Trading it out for 2 15 in yamaha monitors

    • @VermontPrepper
      @VermontPrepper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mango I think they stepped up their game. I have a 9 piece double bass Ayotte with a cage, so I know quality. This feels good to me, but there will inevitably be haters. I did do a lot of tuning thru the module to get the sound I want. Right out of the box the triggers need some tuning, but I was able to dial them in pretty good. Overall satisfied, especially since you get more drums and cymbals for 1/2 the price of a high end roland. And when pairing with the Bose PA, it rivals most acoustics. Alesis has been great with customer service. They sent me new clamps for my extra cymbals for free.

    Amazing demo guys, thank you. You really showed off a wide variety of kits and playing styles. I have one sitting behind me. I love it. It's also great because you have 8 outs for the various components such as kick, snare, toms, etc. So, if you like to record into a Tascam Model 24 as I do, all of your drum parts can be separated like the TD-50 but without the TD-50 price ($8,000 USD). I love that it has 808 and 909 samples built in. The kits sound amazing to me. Super inspiring.
    Not bad for a great-looking $2600 (and change) kit.
    Love the banter too. Cheers!

    Would you consider changing the heads for the triple ply Real Feel heads from Drum-Tec? Can you see through them ? How about buying another 14” and going 10,12, 14,14 . Use the 8” up over the hihat for a timbale or bongo or whatever. How about changing the ride for the big ATV and use this 16” as a trash crash or gong. Have they changed the triggering system inside? Is it going to be more reliable ? They did a good job on the Strike Pad. Maybe the workmanship carried over to this. I hope. I love the look and price. I’d like to plug it into an EV 15” with 15” sub as well!!!

      Thanks for your advice, I know I let the voice in the back of my head get the better of me sometimes! But; it was based on the idea of having loads of different drums at your fingertips.
      I focused on my snare because that's the one I am the most unhappy with. I have been working through a number of different tricks and hacks to make it sound better, and its going in the right direction. But, it still sounds like it belongs in a marching band - not a rock band!
      Yes I am trying to get a high-end sound, out of a low to mid range snare, but I'm don't one to blame the equipment. As I tick different ideas off the list, its sometimes good to add others to it!

    Excellent! You got some chops on you sir. I just bought mine today and will have it delivered this Friday. I love the way it looks and unlike my Roland TD-30, you can import your own samples or drum sounds. I don't understand, I paid 5k for my Roland and those guys don't include that feature. You think for the money you paid for the Roland it would have that. I was worried about the issues they were having back a few years ago when they first came out with this kit. Apparently, they've figured it out and they went with the hammered cymbals which very cool. Also, I got the demo from Sweetwater for 2200.00. Very cool!

Had this kit since the late 80's, but now at the stage of having to reduce the noise. Love the look of the Alesis pro, more like a kit rather than some plastic tupper ware lids, and the price is reasonable. Question from me is, can this kit be added too with more drums and cymbals. • @TheDrummerDude17
      @TheDrummerDude17 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should work with any VST. I have used it with SD2 and Logic Pro's included MIDI kits. It's not true that Roland modules have horrible latency. I used a TD-11 with SD2 and Steven Slate Drums 5 all the time. Just double-check your latency settings in your DAW.

    • @jackgoff4859
      @jackgoff4859 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need an audio interface that supports ASIO if you want to play through SD3. Any normal soundcard is going to have terrible latency. That goes for any electronic kit, as it's just passing midi through usb at that point and it's the PC output that's typically delayed.

I bought a 2 year old used kit and used it for 3 years and its still A++. But if you're on a tight budget, you get WAY bigger drums for a lower prize with alesis kits. So there is not realy a best of both worlds sadly.

      @NickBauman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DubstepCherry depends if your using vst or stock sounds the alesis has better stock sounds and module is way better then td25 but if your triggering vst I would go Roland will last longer and triggers great.

    Can you not just play an 8 bar beat without unnecessary fills all the time? Really hard to get an idea of how it would handle real world playing to songs.

    • @terrytk9398
      @terrytk9398 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Chas Bacon agreed - I think it’s just insecurity. Most gigging drummers will play 90% beat & 10% fills.😀

    • @rossilavery
      @rossilavery 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Was thinking the same thing. It's ok doing all these choppy misleading fills but usually what makes those fills so clever is the fact that they always fall back into 4/4... if you don't do that it just comes across as someone imitating a better drummer. There is nothing musical about it really and it is hard to hear how these samples may fit into a song or along with a band.
      I mean listen to how bad this sounds @ 2:42 lol it sounds like the drumming rendition of someone experiencing a stroke.

      I would imagine that it is but like many people, they have set the gain a bit high on the snare. Certainly on my 2box (admittedly with a bespoke diamond kit) I can get ghost notes that are both super sensitive and so quiet that you can barely hear them. I would imagine that it just needs a tweak as they tend to come stock with a set up that effectively creates compression.

    May sound like a daft question but how quiet is this kit (like if you’re playing with headphones)? Years ago I had a Roland tf9kv that I had to sell sadly & now thinking of resurrecting my drumming hobby, the old Roland had a rubber pad bass drum that was kinda loud for anyone else in the flat - curious if anyone who owns one of these could comment?

    I don’t understand all the love for this kit. The samples are fantastic. But I could also say that for an 80s CD player. What makes a good drum module is being able to play the samples quickly and not sound like that’s what happening. Listen closely to the demos. They are perfect until the drums are played rapidly. Then. bleh. Robot, machine gun. Probably fine if you are happy to play them via your Mac, but then you may as well buy a cheaper set. If they can fix that, I’ll be a fan.

      @@oscarwong4201 Hello. I actually just had the same conversation with my brother. Roland VAD706. This gives you a few things. 1) Looks, many ppl won’t even notice it’s digital. 2) Individual outputs, so the sound desk can e.g. turn up the cymbals. 3) full sized drum heads, what people are used to. 4) amazing sound.
      If the budget is tight. then a Roland TD-27KV. You can still set individual levels, just this is done on the kit itself. You could also look lower on the VAD line that use this module, so you get the acoustic look. good luck.

    You get what you pay for. In my experience Roland stuff is superior in build quality. Don’t be fooled by quantity. Go for quality. I understand Roland is expensive but there is a reason. Alesis has a very bad reputation for build quality. Believe me - I would love for the Strike Pro SE to be great. I would buy it as well. But until they prove to me there build quality is equal with Roland ?.. it’s a no buy for me.

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new Strike Pro SE is great, and has gotten very good reviews. It's also sample-based, so the sounds are better. Roland models their sound but offers more flexibility with editing. People widely complain about the Roland's toms. The Strike Pro SE gives you an additional tom and cymbal, way bigger triggers overall (but for the ride) and way more sounds/kits/samples, plus 8 outs. That means you can recording into something like a Tascam Model 24 and mix your kick, snare, toms, etc. independently and also have those separated in your DAW. Can't do that with Roland (without USB audio) unless you get the 8k TD-50.
