In this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we return to the Corbett Boat Ramp at the Columbia River about 15 miles East of Portland, Oregon for another vehicle recovery.
This time we found a missing Caprice Classic underwater in the river while scuba diving.
Some scuba divers go south to look at pretty fish, our team dives for river treasure.
Was it auto insurance fraud or was the car stolen?
The key was in the inginition and was on when it went in the river.
We still have 5 more cars, trucks, and even a jeep in the river at this location still.
Crazy... Right?

@@AdventuresWithPurpose people should be dumping vehicles in the water. It's bad. Especially the oil and grace that's in them will kill the fish

I enjoyed watching the recoveries of these cars, I enjoy watching the excitement from the guys when they see the end result when the car is completely out of the lake or river. I especially enjoy the end result when the person and their car has been recovered from the lake or river. Those are the difficult times for all involved. It’s easy to see that the persons who have given their time to help others for these events feel touched by the reward that they feel from helping others. We must educate everyone that the groups involved are all volunteers and that they do not receive income for doing this. In this community some donations have been made for families directly affected buy a loss of life. Please continue to donate if you are able. There are too many groups for me to recall and thank here at the same time.
I love this show I will be watching for life now and donating when I can. Stay safe guys and gals.

So eery to think of all the vehicles underwater, some with bodies in them, and people boat/swim right over them without a clue, so many missing people out there who's family's might not ever get closure due to being lost in the water. Makes me appreciate what you guys do even more, you have the power to bring closure to someone's stolen vehicle, lost items, or even missing family member. Thank you for what you do!

Really sad to see how much trash is in these rivers polluting up these beautiful waterways. .people are really despicable in discarding their waste in the rivers lakes and ponds. If you don't want it..leave it next to a wrecking yard or take it to a metal recycling plant. Good of you guys doing this work you do. Keep it up and educate these people about they're environment. Buick, Chevy, all the same General Motors parts bins lol. Good guess Jared. Also, for future reference another way to tell approximately how long a vehicle has been under is if tires are in decent shape, they are supposed to be date coded on sidewalls. May help you out if you're ever stumped. Awesome vid to start my weekend!
Date codes are fairly recent, last 20 years or so. Look for a DOT number stamped in the sidewall. The letter codes won't be relevant but the last four numbers will. First two numbers are the week of production, 01-52. Last two numbers are the year of production. 12=2012.
@@awolfalone2006 All tires have date codes, even ones older than 2000. They just harder to narrow down on the older ones.
I have a car VERY similar to the one in the video, and it has its original spare. The date on the sidewall is 039, which corresponds to the 3rd week of a year ending in 9. Could be 1989, could be 1999, could be 1979. However, since I know it's the original, it HAS to be 1989.

Adventures with Purpose me too, I was looking forward to diving with you and showing you around. Sadly looks like it could be three years before international travel will be normal again 😢. We have had a lot of rain and the local river looks like chocolate milk so the cars aren’t going any where yet.

Too bad, those old square bodied Caprices are getting rare. The grille and taillights should pay for the tow if they’re intact and not brittle.

I'm from upstate NY, Sullivan county, I was thinking of the Delaware river! I know for sure a lot of cars have ended up in it! Just not sure where or how many are still in it.
The Delaware its huge also all the rivers and tidal bays in jersey plus the susquahanna in pa as well

There's an aussie dude who has a similar channel based in Amsterdam. He seems to spend all his time pulling bicycles and safes from the canals. Astonishing what's in our waters.

Love what you do to help the environment, ppl finding closure or lost items and also that you talk to the fish... [ might have been on another video. ] Keep up the work you are doing. My husband and I are talking about taking up magnet fishing to help w the environment... we are retired and on a fixed income, but would like to do our part.
