The One X is still a very relevant console as it does Native 4K on many games, even if it is a stable 30fps. And even some at 60fps, mostly MS titles. Digital Foundry even said graphical differences are very miniscule, and for the most part it would take a magnifying glass to spot the differences. Which is true since I've compared both side by side. When they get MUST HAVE next gen titles ONLY it'll probably be worth it. As of now the One X...AND Pro are just fine. On a 4K display.
Umm even when you made this comment, it wasn't true. There's a massive difference between Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox One X and Series X. And Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't even run on the Xbox Series X.
Backwards compatibility to gen 1? omfg, a huge gem... @@WaynePutterill That isn't going to take up much. From what I can find, the series s/x has 16GB of shared memory. So it will need at most 16GB per game put into quick restore.
To me, there's not a big difference between them, you have to really study the games up close to notice all that much. As a gamer and game developer for the past 30+ years, I remember when one generation to the next was so huge that they didn't even feel like the games were in the same era, anyone else remember those huge jumps? Think for example NES to SNES, PS One to PS2 or Sega Saturn to Dreamcast.

that thing is just technical issue for me.. linus even need to see it really close to see the difference between two.. also when there's a lot of action, you probably more focus on gameplay than graphics..

He means the amount of input latency. He can basically completely move the analog stick to the side before the character responds on the screen. This is not at all the same as on PC where the mouse basically immediately inputs movement.
Doom has a stick deadzone setting so you won’t move until you push to a certain point with the stick so I can understand why he said it feels terrible you can turn it all the way to 0 if it’s not your kinda thing it’s more for people that have slight drifts on their sticks setting a deadzone means it won’t move by itself if you do have stick drift also latency + deadzone is a disaster

2021 now and I have the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. I am not sponsored and I do not get freebies from companies. I say this, because sometimes you cannot believe a reviewers word and trust their impartiality. I have tried the X on a 4K TV and also a 1080p TV graphics wise I do not notice any differences, but I am using a cheap 4K TV. If you are expecting to be blown away graphics wise don't. The ONLY benefit from upgrading is slightly faster load times. If you have a fancy expensive TV then yes you might get better visuals, but if you are using the same TV as your One, then basically it is a waste of money. I got my PS5 and Xbox SX within a week of each other. I played on the PS5 for about two hours and it was turned off for about a month. I decided to have a Playstation weekend in May, and it has now been a month that I have not gamed on the Xbox. The PS5 is much better in terms of story based games. I played Mad Max on the One and loved it. I tried Days Gone and the graphics are so much better than Mad Max. I am cancelling my Ultimate subscription this month, as I really do not see myself gaming on the Xbox anytime soon. I am not a Sony fanboy, I have hated every Playstation console, the OG console was the best. I skipped the PS4, and I have brought every console on Day one of release. Sony, Microgreed and Nintendo plus others. I stopped buying Nintendo consoles after the GameCube. I stopped at the PS3 and always brought Xbox. The PS5 has made me love it and it did from the first time that I saw the design, the Xbox is just a black box that looks weird compared to the PS5. I have to say that for this generation Sony have won me over, and XBox have kind of lost me now.

I get 4k 60 fps in most cases take Star Wars Survivor after patches I get around 70 fps with GI ray tracing at 1440p on my Series X A lot of PC's can't do that.
I’m so excited for this new generation. Coming from a console gamer who plays on a one s on a 1080p tv and getting a tv that goes to 4K and the x is just going to be amazing for me personally.
8:11 Linus doesn't play games very often, does he? Final Fantasy XV alone is around 100GB with all the DLC. It doesn't take many games these days to fill up a 1 TB hard drive, since devs don't bother to properly compress their files. That's one nice thing about the Switch's game carts, it forces devs to compress their files. For example, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is is 67.5 GB on PS4. On the Switch it's a measly 6.3 GB. Sure, it's prettier looking looking on the PS4, but not enough to justify an extra 61 GB.
Compression usually isn't the problem. It's simply the switch version not using the same texture resolution. ANd if i remember correctly them requiring another 10 gb download. So it's more 15 GB at a lower resolution. Devs could actually handle compression way better on a ps4 than on a switch because of the more powerfull cpu and graphics unit. On the other hand storage for the ps4 is dirt cheap. 60gb of storage on the ps4 costs basically nothing compared to the chips in switch cartridges. So devs usually aren't leaving out compression because they jsut don't care about it, they have to think about things they can lower or leave out on the switch so they can sell it at a reasonable price. Or, because devs and publishers are shittyy, how to sell the cartridge at the highest profit.
yeah, and the switch’s internet speed is way faster than the ps4’s, so the difference between the download time of Spyro in the switch and the ps4 is HUGE. We are talking hours of difference
It's not so much that modern game devs are lazy, it's just that they're heavily exhausted and overworked by the publisher/distributor. Console fanboys like to brag about optimization, but in full honesty, game optimization doesn't generally come about in full until the end of a console's lifespan, through successive, individual updates. They just don't have the time when the publisher is rushing all dev teams on a project to get a game out by the deadline, which likely wasn't a fair/realistic deadline in the first place - especially coupled with publishers' fondness of understaffing cut costs...
@@afonso1816 Internet speed isn't the sole factor when it comes to downloads. The STORAGE TYPE used is the biggest factor that matters when determining how fast a file will download.
This is the most GAMER video I've ever seen... The part where Linus jogs to the loading bar lol that's peak "90s kid rubbing his new console in your face" action
That Final Fantasy version you downloaded from the store has a "patch" that deliberately lock the FPS to 30, since Xbox One couldn't provide stable frame rate when unlocked. To play the game with unlocked frame rate, I think you can try to play it straight from the disk.
The being able to jump staright into a game from being completely off really impressed me and got me a while lot more excited for the series x then I was before
wonder why this isnt a thing on desktop. Is windows too bloated or is it something game developers need to implement, like a shortcut to last game save
@Klumsy Kameleon well the ssd by design can access all data virtually immediately, so not sure what dedicated space would mean. It's basically all about the way you load in the game skipping intro and menu, and in terms of windows boot up, getting rid of bloat. If someone uses the PC only for gaming, this should be doable.
Great video LTT, I always appreciate your down to earth nature and giving us the real experiences whether good or bad The quick resume feature is really impressive as well as how fast it can boot to a game from a cold boot 8:11 - Next gen storage problems is one of the reasons why I switched to Stadia

You should do this test with an SSD in the Xbox One X. Hands down the easiest and best thing to do for maxing out the SATA 3 interface vs the 5400 RPM stock drive.
Thing is with final fantasy xv why he doesn't have 60 fps is that he has to change it in settings from quality setting to performance, yes I do play it on 60 fps instead of 30 he just has to change the setting for it

Meanwhile xbox is killing it in the game department rn, purchasing huge studios that sony could never afford like Zenimax, and offering a truly powerful next gen system while sony has to panic overclock to keep up, not to mention xbox doing a crazy job at preserving older console games even raising framrates of original xbox games and 360 games along with graphics quality. Sony just leaves their past software in the dust which is awful. Sony charging people for upgrades of their last gen games like spiderman is just pathetic. Its 2020 and sony cant even support thier new games with a ps4 controller which has exactly the same buttons. Sony marketing their console with zero transparency the whole time making people think thier big new hits are ps5 only just to last minute be confimed they will all be on ps4 aside from demon souls. Xbox will have hundreds of games day 1 with gamepass. And majority of people will be playing AC Vahalla, Cyberpunk 2077, and cod this holiday which all will run better on series X. Im building a new PC this gen as my main platform and keeping my One X and Ps4 Pro for a few more years. But to say xbox isn't great at gaming is plain false.
I’m just worried about all the children who would get the new series X as a Christmas gift only to find out that their gullible parents bought a one X because Microsoft sucks at naming.
Honestly both the Xbox One and the PS4 Pro were incredibly unnecessary upgrades. To me those were a waste of money and resources. It was only what? Two or three years before the real next gen consoles. I also think the Xbox Series X and PS5 didn't need a digital only version. I don't like cutting off the option of never being able to go physical. Especially with the Series X because of that backwards compatibility. Just have different storage options. It would make far more sense to me and be a better choice than disk or no disk.
MS while releasing Xbox one X: it can do 4k60 gaming MS while releasing Xbox series X: Actually this one can do 4k60 Xbox series XX: This will do 4k60 for sure Xbox series XXX : Return of the Xander Cage.
Don't worry, the next gen games will be smaller due having to repeat less data and hardware compression etc... for a while. Then they will discover quixel and sizes will bump up hard.

I stopped at the PS3 and always brought Xbox. wtf why is this exactly happening to me rn

Currently gaming on a one X. Got myself a 3tbh ext hdd for years now. Games like r6, halo infinite, no man's sky are internal. The rest if external and I love it. So if you don't mind starting up a game within 1 minute instead of under 20 sec, the one X is amazing.
You should do this test with an SSD in the Xbox One X. Hands down the easiest and best thing to do for maxing out the SATA 3 interface vs the 5400 RPM stock drive.
Hell yeah.
Yeee i did that 2 an 860 evo 1 tb
I was loading FF15 last night and it was under 20 seconds for me and fast traveling. Even loading from the title screen was pretty quick.
Seeing all these videos is making the wait for my Series X harder.
IKR I WILL BE ALSO GETTING A SERIES X :D
I like that Linus isn’t an Xbox sellout, and it’s really genuine an honest with his opinions lol
yea he got the console early but he's still pointing out some of the negative aspects of the console which i like

Thank you for telling the truth!
He shouldn't need to, the game came out in 2016 it shouldn't be that taxing.

Linus: "It is backwards compatible with ALL previous generations".
Also Linus: doesn't test an original xbox game.
because its not, that was a flase claim by linus. Xbox has already confirmed SOME backwards compat with the ONE games but NOT ANY ORIGINAL 360 games or original Xbox games.
Should've tested morrowind
@ its not a false claim he literally played a 360 game and you could play orginal xbox games. But not all only the ones they made backwards compatible.
@ the sentence the OP quoted is still true. It is compatible with previous Xbox generations, just not all games.
@ That's absolutely not true. It plays all Xbox one games, except kinect games. And everything that was backward compatible on xbone from the 360 and original will work on series X/S.
Imagine watching your boss lie on their couch playing games for work while you film them 😂
To be honest it feels like Linus is a little bit biased about the Xbox One X because I played Doom eternal on Xbox One X which is hooked up to my 50 inch Sony Bravia X85J TV with variable refresh rate enabled Doom eternal is actually running at 3840x2160p HDR 10 60fps it's fucking beautiful the way it looks there is no stutter there is no screen tear it's magnificent not even words cannot explain how powerful the Xbox One X actually is 😍 Some people today literally underestimate how truly powerful the one X actually is 🤦♂️ It's capable of native 4k HDR 10 60 Hz the only difference is the frame rate most games will run at 4k 30fps and some will run 4K 60 such as battlefield 2042 and Titanfall 2 is also dynamic 4K 60fps 😍 Even Red Dead redemption 2 natively runs 4k 30fps with no stutter I don't even need the series X at the moment I have a PS5 instead If only fucking scalpers could stop buying up every Series X console I would be enjoying playing games at 4K HDR 10 120 Hz 🤦♂️

Linus: what’s the similarities?
Both cannot run minesweeper above 10-fps
Oh god imagine console minesweeper. And this, is coming from a mobile minesweeper player with 2,7s on beginner.
@@zirax54 The only way I can think of to make console Minesweeper even half-decent is to make it Minesweeper Flags (old MS online competitive version where you want to HIT the mines). Well that or Microsoft Treasure Hunt.
And yes I've considered mouse support (which some Xbox One games do allow, like Hi-Rez's F2P games). No it won't help on a screen like that.
Re the FF15 test: If he had used the Lite graphics mode he would get a pretty stable 60 FPS. Digital Foundry tested this in their video.
I got a PS4 with about 15 games, most I haven't had much time to play. The SSD speeds of next gen is gonna be amazing. Every minute counts when you don't have much time to play.

One difference, the Series X’s interface is actually fast.
Yes now that it's updated

Matthias Is that True? So Both dashboards of the One X and Series X will look the Same?
Because all the marketing horseshit for ads, microtransactions, live services, partners and everything in between loads up. Give it time and this one will be slow too. MS is still the same trash company they were decades ago, just more money.
I LOVE That YOU GUYS DIDENT CLEAN IT BEDFOR DOING CLOSE UP B ROLL.
Yeah I paid $300US for the S and immediately bought the Expansion Card. But now I have an X and I already filled up the internal SSD so swap it between consoles until they make newer cheaper models or a 2Tb.
Microsoft is about as great as naming as Sony is with their phones
Oof too true.
Its pretty true.
Sony wh-1000xm3
But to say xbox isn't great at gaming is plain false.
jason freeman found the fanboy
I’m just worried about all the children who would get the new series X as a Christmas gift only to find out that their gullible parents bought a one X because Microsoft sucks at naming.
I think it is because of trademark issues then people could easily guess the next model and buy the trademark.
