FYI a domestic cats average life span in the wild is a mere 5 years. The fact that this sweet boy got to live out 4 glorious years with a family who truly loved him is so amazing! Thank you for sharing Heiko's story it was inspiring!
@@NoirRaven Yeah I heard her say he was on the street but to be honest there is no way to know how long the cat was on the street as a stray. I have fostered countless feral cats and that cat was very friendly and adjusted to living indoors in a house. even if the cat was at the shelter for a long time that cat adjusted to being in a house immediately....which is extremely out of the ordinary for a feral cat who lived on the street for 16 years..I suspect the cat had an owner at one point in his life and then, unfortunately, ended up on the street. I am so happy he found such a loving home. Also there is no way to give a definitive/empirical way to know the cat's actual age it is an estimate
@@NoirRaven probably not. Heiko was someone's pet, and either got lost or his people passed away, or was tossed out. Not sure if he was 16 YO either. He could have aged badly with the stress of trying to survive on the street.
We adopted a senior cat with some health issues too. He was about 9 but he looked older because he'd been a stray with bad teeth, stomach issues, and had apparently been hit by a car at some point and his back legs healed wrong so he couldn't jump very well or run very fast. We had to take him home with us though, he bonded with my husband immediately when we were at the shelter and he was the sweetest, most laid back cat I've ever met. He was also gigantic lol not fat, but he looked like a short-haired Maine Coon because he was so big. He passed away after about four years with us as well, that was almost six years ago and we still talk about him and miss him. Senior cats need loving homes too and are often some of the most appreciative! Give them a chance!
Wonderful. We adopted a ginger senior. He passed years ago but I miss Max every day. He was a talker. He lived most of his life outdoors but we brought him in and he lived like a king.
When she started speaking about him in the past tense - I was like - uh-oh - let's hope it's just us europeans making mistakes - but no - now I am ugly crying. You gave Heiko the opportunity to be his best self and to love life and I am deeply sorry he's gone now, may he rest in peace.
Why do people hate old cats? They’re quiet, they’re fluffy, they don’t destroy shit… It brought tears to my eyes seeing a stray cat get old in comfort. ❤️😭
I think people want a young looking cat. There are also the issues that if you adopt an older animal you will probably have to start spending quite a lot on vets bills straight away and your new friend won't be with you for all that long. That said, it's really nice when older animals get the good homes they deserve.
A sad but great story! At least you made his remaining years the best they could be. Who knows? Without you, he may have died in the shelter not having any of the fun or freedom that you gave him. Thank you on behalf of Heiko!
We who love cats have all felt as you did when you lost your Heiko. As the vet said to me recently, it isn't so much how long they live, it's how happy they are when they are alive. This simple value has kept me together, kept me from losing my mind from grief several times. You did a wonderful thing and he passed after living the best years of his life.
You give the cat lots of love in his last years. Sorry for your loss. Perhaps when you're feeling better you can adopt another older cat who needs you. Heiko would probably approve.
This was such a heartwarming story! Senior stray cats, must have a special place in a house and your family gave this handsome gentleman a great spot and all the treatment he needed for these 4 years! He felt loved, happy, safe and that's the biggest gift you could give him! Because of stories like this, I tend to have great love for senior cats! ❤️
Heiko was so fortunate to have his loving mom and dad for four years. He lived into his 20's, because of you. Love heals the most broken of hearts and gives animals and people a will to live. I LOVE that you adopted a senior cat. I adopted an 8-year-old cat after my two cats of 17 and 18 years passed away. Thor is going to be 13 in July and he is so loving and sweet. BTW, Heiko had the most beautiful colored eyes, they almost look turquoise! He truly was gorgeous after he came to live with you. You and your husband can be content knowing you gave this wonderful cat the best years of his life. So many animals pass away without knowing the love and compassion of a human, or have the attention and care that Heiko had. God Bess You! I do hope you consider adopting another senior cat, I know that would make Heiko very happy to know another senior cat will have the best cat parents in the world.

You know people really love their cats when they give them bowties. What a great life for Heiko! He deserved these special people, and they deserved him.

People, most people... are Evil. This cat, all cats are special and deserve Life. This kitty was above amazing. He lives on.... 4 years, you gave him Love. He was truly a beautiful cat in all aspects.
I can’t agree with your first sentence. People are flawed but very very few are truly evil. Most people do try to be good, with varying degrees of success.
I once had a mentor who told me that most people are guilty of neglect, they are not sensitized to the needs of others, be it humans or animals. Those that are need to set a good example to awaken some of these people to start doing acts of kindness.
I love this woman and I love this cat. It warms my heart that he was able to spend 4 wonderful years with her and her husband. He was fed and comfortable and warm and loved. Great story ☺️
As someone who had a tough life until recently, I like to think- "It's not how you start, it's how you finish." THANK YOU so very much for giving him love at the end.
I adopted an 10 year old cat named Abby from a shelter in San Diego (shout out Helen Woodward) and gave her a home for the last 6 years of her life. She was the sweetest cat I’ve ever had and I miss her now that she is gone. I cried so much when she died and despite several years passing since then, I still get tears in my eyes when I think about her.
God bless you! I too still get tears in my eyes thinking about my late cat daughter, who died at 17. I grieved for 16 years, and literally 16 years after her death a new girl came into my life; a Siamese mix, Babette, who is now almost four. I love her as much as my late girl, but differently. When the time is right, a new love will come to you 😺💕
Heartwarming and heartbreaking.💔This woman gave Heiko the best years of his life and he left this earth knowing how much he was loved. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his saviors. He is in the arms of the angels.👼Spirit never dies. 💕
I don’t know if there is a Heaven, but if there is, there’s a special place in it for people like you. Kindness to all animals, especially older ones in pain, is a special thing.
It's always the family who suffers the most when a loved one passes. Even though they are sad they should never forget the love and happy home they provided to Heiko when no one else would. RIP sweet kitty.

We’ve lost many rescue dogs, we now have 4 rescued feral cats (all from same family) and your post reminds me of the paraphrasing of a saying: Don’t cry because you lost them, smile because you had them 😆! Cheers from canada!
21 years! You must have been a wonderful Mama to your darling cat. My heartfelt sympathies for your loss; I know how much it hurts ❤
Sorry for your loss 😔 ✨❤️
Maybe this beautiful family will open their hearts to another shelter animal who needs the same love they gave their beautiful senior!!!
Vier wunderbare Jahre bei Menschen, die ihn bedingungslos liebten. Gott schütze euch dafür!!!
This woman is such a beautiful soul! She gave Heiko a second chance at a good life! Senior cats and FIV positive cats deserve just as good of a retirement as every other cat. I absolutely love his little bow ties, he’s such a beautiful boy 😻 Anyways thank you for giving Heiko a good life and loving him unconditionally. I know it probably meant a great deal to him to feel loved until the very end! I love that GeoBeats honors all animals even ones who have passed on. Thank you for allowing Heikos story to be told. Rest In Peace Heiko 🌺 💜
People like you are so kind. You give a chance to animal who hardly get a chance.
Crying for your loss, but also crying in joy that Heiko found his forever home at last, to the end. Bless you both for giving Heiko the gift of a secure and loving life. He was a beautiful boy.
Yesss, so we’ll put, thank you 😁
How blessed Heiko was to be adopted and loved by this loving couple. I got tears in my eyes when she spoke of losing him. God bless everyone who adopts and provides care and love for these precious, innocent creatures 🥰🐈😺
This woman is an angel and Heiko has the most soulful eyes.
So thankful he had love and loyalty in his last 4 years
🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
FYI a domestic cats average life span in the wild is a mere 5 years. The fact that this sweet boy got to live out 4 glorious years with a family who truly loved him is so amazing! Thank you for sharing Heiko's story it was inspiring!
He was already sixteen when they got him so he lasted 16 years on the street

All strays should be that lucky 💖
My cat is almost 20. Medical issues aside , still going strong.. thank god.
💖💖💖
Beautiful story ❤❤❤
@Atroxa Thank you for being you. People like you are the rare ones that's been keeping my faith in humanity.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. He went through a lot of rough stuff but had a happy ending, thanks to you all.
He must be with them in spirit in the spirit of Love
He's running in the garden.
Before he was sent to the rainbow bridge, I'm sure he's already roaming and running around in their garden right now.
My heart melted the minute she used past tense... My furbaby past away about two years go and I can honestly say I'm not completely over it.
Thank you for giving him 4 wonderful loving years.
He has beautiful eyes . The window to the soul .thank you for seeing him to the end .
Why do people hate old cats? They’re quiet, they’re fluffy, they don’t destroy shit…
It brought tears to my eyes seeing a stray cat get old in comfort. ❤️😭
And they are so smoochy and loving
I think people want a young looking cat. There are also the issues that if you adopt an older animal you will probably have to start spending quite a lot on vets bills straight away and your new friend won't be with you for all that long.
That said, it's really nice when older animals get the good homes they deserve.
@@mellawes533 thank you !!!!!! say that again
What an amazing story. Thank you for giving him such a wonderful home for 4 years. You’re amazing humans ❤️❤️
A sad but great story! At least you made his remaining years the best they could be. Who knows? Without you, he may have died in the shelter not having any of the fun or freedom that you gave him. Thank you on behalf of Heiko!
He's such a sweet and gentle cat. Look at his eyes evennnn. Thank you for giving him the life he deserved when he was alive. ♥️
So kind-heart woman, shed adopted him because no one will adopt him. She is a true animal lover....
Sorry,, but no. A true animal lover is vegan and refuses to pay for any animals to suffer.
Delightful. Both the owners and the cat! Heiko won the lottery the day he crossed paths with you!
The last four years were probably the best of his life.
thank you for giving that precious cat a loving retirement
I salute you people with such kind heart to give this beautiful cat such quality of life and love him so much.so special
Such wonderful thoughts, so beautifully said. Thank you, Nancy.
Beautifully said❤️.
❤ I'm glad he found love before he died as I knew a cat like that who was abandoned 😔 and my aunt took him in and cared for him. He was sick with multiple illnesses and had to be euthanized 💔
@@SUGAR_XYLER Your Aunt did a wonderful thing, adopting that cat. I'm so sorry for y'all's loss.
His later years were better than the rest..filled with love 💕
Very Good 💜😻👍
Thank you for adopting him. He was nothing short of magnificent. Such a beautiful boy. It's never easy when you have to put them down. Thank you for sharing Heiko with us. Greetings from Las Vegas.
He was a classy beautiful ginger cat! Bless this woman for giving him the best years of his life during those last 4 years.
Aww, what a sweet baby, poor little guy🥰 Rip little guy, you will be sorely missed🥺
My cat is 17 years old and I am enjoying him every day. He is just such a sweet cat I love him so much.
I am sorry for Heiko’s death and I know he felt all the love.
You know people really love their cats when they give them bowties. What a great life for Heiko! He deserved these special people, and they deserved him.
Cats are so adorable in accessories. But it's important that it is safe. There are, unfortunately, many accessories out there that can risk their lives when worn..
Came to watch this like I do from time to time, and realized it is the one year anniversary of Heiko's passing. RIP Heiko, you brought me much happiness knowing your story. ❤
Thanks for taking him in and giving him such a beautiful life for his final years
Whether they're with us for a a week, a month, or a year, our beloved felines and canines were able to feel loved. I'm positive Heiko is loved up to this day. He'a watching you from another plane. We're lucky and privileged to give them joy and happiness. Bless your kind soul for making Heiko happy
What a very distinguished gentleman was Heiko in his bowtie. His meow/chirp was the absolute cutest as well. His last years were so well lived with such wonderful people. R.I.P. Good Boy...
People, most people... are Evil. This cat, all cats are special and deserve Life. This kitty was above amazing. He lives on.... 4 years, you gave him Love. He was truly a beautiful cat in all aspects.
Your message is so true 🥺😥 it hurts that what you shared is true. LET KIND ACTS PREVAIL 😇
I agree...this lady and kitty made me cry...
I can’t agree with your first sentence. People are flawed but very very few are truly evil. Most people do try to be good, with varying degrees of success.
That's an odd thing to say... Most people are not evil, most people are intrinsically good. Either you have serious issues, or you had a shit life 🙄
I once had a mentor who told me that most people are guilty of neglect, they are not sensitized to the needs of others, be it humans or animals. Those that are need to set a good example to awaken some of these people to start doing acts of kindness.
What a beautiful boy. I’m so glad he got to experience true love and affection in his senior years. Rest in peace, sweet Heiko ❤️
What a beautiful heartwarming story. Heiko was your soul cat and when he passed he left you his light!
He's gorgeous! All animals deserve a caring owner and a loving home.
I love this woman and I love this cat. It warms my heart that he was able to spend 4 wonderful years with her and her husband. He was fed and comfortable and warm and loved. Great story ☺️
As someone who had a tough life until recently, I like to think-
"It's not how you start, it's how you finish."
THANK YOU so very much for giving him love at the end.
How beautiful this cat was & I am happy he gave you love in return. ❤
He was so precious. I'm so happy this beautiful boy lived his golden years with this beautiful couple. RIP.
When the time is right, a new love will come to you 😺💕
I’m so sorry for your loss. Last year I adopted a 14 year old cat from the humane society. Best thing I’ve ever done💗
Sorry for your loss. Don't let sadness get in the way of the happy memories. I hope we get to see them again one day.
Id adopt him in a minute hes a sweet kitty !
What can I say - I cried too. I'm so sorry for your loss! But his final years were filled with love, thanks to you! Bless you
I am glad that two very kind and blessed souls were chosen by Heiko to give his eternal love...❤
Thank you guys for your love for the cat.
He spent the best years of his life together with you! What a gift for him and also for you. Sweet idea to plant a tree for him! I hope you will adopt another senior cat, it looks like the perfect place for them!
Heiko seemed like a younger cat, so energetic in his walk. It was sad that he passed away last year but spent the best 4 years in safe and loving home ❤
I am crying, too. What a love story! The three of you were meant to be and the love you gave to Heiko was the purest gift. Treasure each memory. With love from Toronto.
Aww 🥰 he may have been ill and his teeth infected, but he didn’t lose the will to live, I’m so grateful to you for giving him a true home 🤗🥰🥹
I cried. Thank you, lady
I'm so happy that this beautiful baby got to spend the last few years of his life in a loving home.
Oh my goodness he is so special. Look at him. Thank you for rescuing him. I'm so so glad you both had four amazing years together. If I had seen him in the shelter I would have done exactly the same thing (and did with Max! Who looks very much like Heiko). Not a single regret! xo
He's certainly a wise old cat. We could all learn something from him, and what a wonderful soul this lady is... One of nature's true warriors ❤️
What a wonderful loving life you gave him. He was special and you made him feel special for 4 years.
RIP Heiko
We never know when someone will steal our hearts. That is what happened with Heiko. He was beautiful and so much fun. His memory lives on bringing joy to those who loved him.
Thank you for adopting and giving Heiko the best last 4 years of his life in a warm home filled with love and care. Rest in peace Heiko, your loved and missed. 😿💔
R.I.P. dearest kitty 😻 🐈 🐈 🐾 Heiko!.. 😥😢😺🐱👼😇🙏🙏 And God bless your family!!! 😽😼🧑🧒👼😇🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💕❤️🌹💐💕❤️🌹💐🙏🙏🙏🙏😇👼🙏🙏🙏🙏💕❤️👼😇🙏🙏🙏🙏
Such a sweet couple to adopt this older cat and give him a loving home. This is a wonderful story and I'm so happy that they were able to enjoy each other for those 4 years. God bless to all in the video. What a wonderful way to honor Heiko's memory to put his ashes in the garden he loved and plant a tree for him.
😿😻👍💕
Oh what kindness and love you have shown him.
'MAM, YOU ARE A HERO! IF ONLY THERE WOULD BE MORE KIND PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!
Aww i feel so bad for this cat
How dare people chose animals by their looks if i saw that cat i would definitely adopt it
And I actually cried at the end😭😭😭
Thank you for giving Heiko a loving home at the end of his life.
What a sweetie! So glad you gave him a loving home for those years at the end of his life. He was obviously very happy!
I'm so sorry, I lost my Jeffie cat 6 years ago now, and I still feel the pain. But I know, and I hope you do too, that the life we gave them, the love, care and affection meant the world to them.
So sorry for your loss. And many blessings to you and your husband for letting him know and feel what real love is. Thank you for sharing his story.
hes a incredible sweethearted and calm old soul 🥰😘🥰
and now he can life the best life, even though he crossed the rainbow bridge
I’m so glad he had such a lovely home and was so well cared for and loved for his last 4 years.
