Great video Ed. Those tips are solid. You said in this video “hauk and wind, you gotta be willing to do it for hours” and also said you hit that spot like 5 times all skunks… so this is a great tip to keep in mind. You gotta be willing to fish many trips without a bite. Many hours. That’s part of the striped bass fisherman’s constitution when you’re just learning where and when to find them.
Lovin' that you're getting back to the Info-tainment side! Started watching you just for the surf knowledge! Keep it up! Like watching your fishing adventures, don't get me wrong, but much rather watch for education and motivation to get on the hunt! Keep this type of content coming man! Tight lines
Solid video. One factor I look at really close for stripers while in the ocean is water temp. Warmer the better as the Striped bass metabolism goes off packing weight on for annual spawn runs.

Awesome striped bass action guys!! That got me hyped!! Really great information in this vid. The only thing out of those 6 conditions I don’t check very often is wave power. I’ll check currents but not usually wave power. I’ll definitely have to start keeping an eye on that. Great video Edward 👌
you're very inteligent.. I love your know how about stripe bass fishing.. I'm learning a lot. I love to fish from the the surf.. I live in San Rafael.. any particular place here.. thank you.. fe
Where are your favorite places to fish I’m in the exploring phase right now when’s the next time you’re gonna hit the surf‘s up I’m gonna try missing beach today when I get off work high tides at 4:30 I think I’m gonna try your advice get there two hours before PK tide it worked for me pretty well yesterday in Oceanside thanks for the videos I’m actually catching halibut now I want to try the striped bass today
Got so fired up I went to the same spot yesterday. Nothing! Middle of May incoming tide and , I don't know, just were not there. Even tried the entrance of the mouth . Dude , shit ain't easy.
Hi, don't tell me exactly where you fish, but approx what area are you? In your opinion what's the most productive time of the year for surf striper fishing?
Great video I’m blessed to fish striped bass in Monterey seaside sand city area and catching 300 plus fish from February through November for last 25 years, your videos spot on you’ve a lot and thank you for sharing I always do when I see the teen adult anglers trying so hard dinner or later they come up and ask me how I do that , cone to the beach fidh 30 mins and have a limit so I share my info also , we’re all in it for The same
Dude, when you’re in Carmel by the sea in California, I want you let me know cause I want to go fishing with you so bad. I want to catch a fish and I’m doing everything wrong and I need your help.
What do you recommend for rougher waters north of GGB? I'm having difficulty finding beaches that will allow lures to swim alright? Deeper incline beaches with larger waves
Are you familiar with resources like surf-forecast.com? Or coastal waters forecast to see how close the swells are in terms of seconds? It might not be a problem with the beaches or lures you are throwing. It might be a problem of going when the conditions are just plain tough. If you choose a day with Medium to light swells at least 10 seconds apart and 500 or less wave power you’ll find the conditions much better. Sometimes there’s also too much current.
Yo, love your content and your videos. I have never fished for a striped bass. I am from Washington state and planning on a trip next year with some friends was hoping you can help a brother out where in California.
It really depends on the time of year and how far you are willing to drive. I mostly focus on the north coast of the central coast but there is great striper fishing in the south too.
Super informative! Have you done a video where you describe the gear you bring with you for mobile plugging? The rod reel rig tackle I’ve seen, but like backpack, what’s inside your backpack, waders, useful tools, like things that you bring that will help you do well on the surf and allow you to stay mobile? Thanks!
I got one of those 9 foot ugly sticks with a nice reel on it, but I can’t seem to cast that far out there. Do I need a longer pull like a 12 footer cause this one seems nice but I just can’t pass a little waves. It’s really frustrating.
The lure rating printed on the rod will give you the best indication. I’m guessing the lure rating on your rod is a lot heavier than the lure you’re throwing. The lures in this episode are 1/2 and 3/4 oz. The rods are rated to cast from 1/2-2 oz
Then response for an old video that had out there I appreciate that yeah like I said I have a 9 foot ugly stick. I’ve been using for surf fishing and it’s like a 4000 real. I forgot the name of it off that it’s like I got like the half ounce half the white glow thing in that thing it looks like a minnow That worked out great so I bought two like 20 bucks or something like that and I still haven’t caught a damn fish and I can’t get the damn thing out there. It won’t go to it won’t go far enough so can you recommend what I wanna stick cause they’re cheaper and is 12‘9 foot tall enough or what I’m gonna get one of those out there I wish I could afford $1200 to that helicopter anyhow thank you much for the advice. I’m glad I can’t believe you got back to me that quick. Have a good one you’re Monterey I want to go fishing with you dude😁🎣
@@Hook2Cook That is why we were out. My buddy and I landed 18 in less than 3 hours on the rising tide on a full moon night. That is why we often night fish here up North of you 🤙🏼
Depends on where you fish. South of point Arguello requires ocean enhancement. "Required to fish in ocean waters south of Point Arguello (Santa Barbara County). An Ocean Enhancement Validation is not required when fishing under the authority of a One or Two-Day Sport Fishing License."
Careful what you ask for! Numbers have been increasing putting pressure on native species like perch and steelhead. We caught one with 4 perch, a smelt and a steelhead in its belly.
@@robertsaconi2012 damn bro why you such a hater. It seems like you really don't care about giving up people's fishing spots based on your comments. You're either not from around here or you're just a bitter old man
That's an illegal spot that you're promoting there at Avila Beach. State law have to fish 100 ft either side from the creek mouth all times of year for any species. As a local I know that rock you're standing on holding that fish is right in the mouth not 100 ft off either side. Way to go getting a striper though
That's funny . . But not. I was there yesterday standing right on that rock in the middle of the channel. Didnt get nothing but a snagged bottum feeder. 2 of them on one hook. That's a first. Conditions were good except for the bait fish. Saw one splash, that's it
