    What time of the day do you usually fish brother?
    I been fishing the aqueduct on the evenings but no luck so far

    • @tasmoua
      @tasmoua  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @Yahawah144Elect I don't fish the Aqueduct much just because it's not consistent and when i do its mainly in the afternoon. I like Check 12 because If they're there they seem to stay there all day. if not, I have a lot of other spots nearby I can try out.

      @@tasmoua thank you I appreciate that brother. I can see how inconsistent the aqueduct can be and it’s frustrating.
      Your video at the kings river/pine flat damn brought me and my family to fish.
      You hear they restocked there about 2 miles down the river?
      I also notice you fish there a lot during the winter from seeing your videos.

      @@Yahawah144Elect I'm on the south end of the Aqueduct, I haven't fished it m?uch at all the last couple of years. But the gates and amount of current have always been the key to success for me. There's no discernable timing as to when and how they open. It helps to have a looping route for your preferred gates so you can drive by or at least see from the road. Focusing on how open they are is key. Wide open is too fast down here. Barely open is too slow to be of practical use as far as attracting schools. Happy medium or a bit slower is what you should be shooting for. Using 1/2 oz Rattletraps, old-school Jerk baits, and Blade baits, makes a game plan just as important.
      I can't recall ever catching anything in the duct soaking fresh bait, unless I was flying lining it and walking with the drift.
      Seems to really have died off ever since they've been dumping water back into the Delta for the smelt. The thread fin also seems to have become ghosts that just pop up from an earlier respawn.
      But I do try to hit the inlet at Quail and especially at Pyramid, if I ever see that reserve channel along the freeway flowing.

    • @Yahawah144Elect
      @Yahawah144Elect 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@secretbassrigs Thanks for the information! I fish south of Fresno, and the gates here are fenced off. I can't fish directly on the bridge gates, only away from them, but the water flow is too strong. The lines keep drifting toward the bank and getting snagged.

    • @secretbassrigs
      @secretbassrigs 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@Yahawah144Elect I forgot to mention to try a simple white Bucktail Hair Jig. Something around 1/4 oz. for low to no current, heavier for fast, etc. Add scent and vary your retrieve.
      I actually like to pin one of those fish oil gel capsules that will hang off the bend of the hook when I start out. It has a slow release and leaves a scent trail everywhere you cast. And most are actually derived from sardines and anchovies.
      A slow to medium steady retrieve with occasional hiccups is standard with "buck tails". I've noticed a downward pumping action on the rod with a steady retrieve can be irresistible on tough days. Just make sure you keep it as close to "near the bottom" as you can.
      A bait trailer is not generally necessary, and I hate how they can make a natural looking bait look so out of balance sometimes. Smaller bucktails generally don't need trimming along the edges to smooth out the profile. Try using a smooth camo Hunter Green 20lb test BRAID on a spinning reel. Try to have it machine wound on to the spool, to avoid line twits and increasing your casting distance.
      Bucktails, for me, are universally accepted striper lures and always a go-to bait for the toughest of situations. A close second is the Flutter and Krocodile spoons (Definitely use a baitcaster set up for spoons). Lipless Cranks, Spooks, and Jerkbaits as the third in priority. 1oz. Kastmasters can also be deadly to get far and deep, with steady retrieve.

    Flutter Spoons are the ticket! 🎟️ They also work great when swimming them slow and steady in shallow water, just fast enough for you to feel your rod tip swaying.
    I switch the hook out for Triple Grips because they stay pinned. Had owners for a few months with no problems, then the fish suddenly kept coming off. Maybe the wire got stretched? Never had any issues after using the triple grips. I always bend the points out just a tiny bit.

    • @tasmoua

      @@tasmoua nice! Sometimes it's the only thing that works when the shad are still spread out or haven't gotten big enough. Or when they're so ubiquitous, it's hard to offer them anything at all. The stripes will hit it just before it gets close enough to make another cast. Like they're following the spoon a lot and only hitting because they think it's about to escape.
