I'm in the middle of a Livonia run right now. I opted to humiliate Novgorod and subjugate TO, but then ended up surrounded by an alliance chain of Poland -> Sweden -> Muscovy because they had supported Sweden's independence. I broke out of that situation because I had a really good Mil ruler that allowed me to hit Mil tech 7 while Muscovy was on 5 and Sweden on 6.
