Another nice little bit of foolery with a carb, I don't know about your shafts and how the plates are supposed to be attached will see your findings and the fix when you get back to it. Enjoy your trip, Be safe and see you on your next posting. Thank You.

Hello! I have a problem and maybe you will be able to help me. How to set default valve position? I have Solex cic4 from GSA and in documentation is said that it should be 1,25 degree… I can’t find solex tool for adjusting. With radial size of valve it is 0,24mm movement. How you are doing those adjustments?

I was hoping to get some clues on 2cv solex carbs, but this vid is more about how to never use it again.

The video is about what I found on my own car, which sadly was rather irritating, but that is life I suppose. Thanks for watching.

Greetings from Greece again.I have finally finish my rebuild engine and i ve started it easily after almost 20 years. My fear is that ive done something maybe not properly with the carburettor.I've changed almost everything...New cylinder and pistons new valves new seals new electronic ignition and everything is new on carburettor.i've adjust my carburettor according to a burton's video about carburettor.I've adjust my floats from seal to float dots on the centre of the floats to 18 centimetres. Results are not great .. my engine revs good but is not steady and is popping time to time.idle is not good and when i shut off the engine by closing the chock ( cause engine is on a workbench) fuel is dropping from a tiny hole under my center of the manifold.Maybe is too rich??Please need some help here. Thanks a lot for replying my older question.

Hello again, it is difficult to give an opinion over the internet but here goes........... assuming the timing is correct, were the new valves lapped in to the head, is there any wear on the carb spindles causing an air leak, was the insulator block between carb and manifold in good condition and were new paper gaskets fitted, was the primary choke flap fully closed ( wear can leave it slightly open over time ) were new gaskets fitted on the manifold, are there any exhaust leaks? Any of these can give an uneven idle and popping back. Fuel dropping is normal to a certain degree but less so when the engine has been running for a bit so perhaps the float needle is not seating properly?
I cannot think of anything else at the moment, if I do I will add it later. Good luck with it !

Could you silver solder the little plate to the shaft to fix it permanently? I would....

You definitely could Joe and that would sort it out well, but I think I have other problems with the shaft which need checking out which is why the video ended abruptly. I will have a better look when I get back from France. In the meantime I refitted the LN carb ( see previous video) and it seems to run great on the rebuilt engine so it might be staying. Thank for watching!

@@oldnutsgarage I meant the little plate you found loose that shouldn't have been....

Yep, both it and the larger plate that the shaft passes through could be secured perfectly well with silver solder.
