The first time I ever went on space mountain was when this theme was on. It scared me to death and my mom couldn’t convince me that it wasn’t just normally like that for years! It’s probably my favorite ride now
Once I went on this ride. I accidentally blinked when it took the picture. And my dad thought I was scared of that dang thing. The ride feels so much more intense because the ghost is chasing you through the ride. The music is also more intense and dramatic.
This is so cool!! I didn't know that they did this during Halloween! The one in Florida at Disney World is a bit scarier though as it's called "Deep Space" and they turn off every single light on the ride during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.
Have you all ridden it? I know people that have and it’s definitely much scarier than it sounds. Yes, I know space mountain is dark to begin with but at least there is some light from the stars. Just imagine no lights at all, almost like your eyes are completely closed and you don’t know which way you’re going next.

1 time my mum didn’t know it was the Halloween version and it took me on it for my first time she showed me a video of normal space Mountain so I wasn’t scared but then after it was done I legit started bawling and then I didn’t go on the ride for 5 years bc I was because I was legit traumatized and then I we’re on the normal version and it was the funnest times of my life and I’m going this month so I’m gonna try and go on it again lol

Funny enough, even as a little kid I loved watching POV videos of this version on TH-cam and was not at all frightened (even though I was still terrified of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty at that age), but I refused to ride it in person. This was long before the incredible low-light camera POVs we have now, so you never even saw the stars in these videos, so therefore "what if there's something absolutely horrifying that these cameras aren't picking up?" I think a few of my friends rode it and said they had nightmares for weeks after and that it likely ruined their whole Disney trip. However, I regret never riding it since they don't do it anymore, and now as someone who loves this kind of stuff I would ride it in person in a heartbeat.
I remember waiting with my friends for over two hours to go on this ride and I ended up closing my eyes the entire time after seeing the ghost appear at the top of the hill. I miss the thrill of being scared of things, haha.

Changing over to Ghost Galaxy actually only takes a couple days, so that's really not the issue. Like DBlub 33 said, the issue is that WDW's Space Mountain has a very different infrastructure, so it would be harder to apply these same effects to that space. On top of that, Disneyland Park has a wider range of intensity than the Magic Kingdom Park, so they would never do anything this scary in that park. Except for Alien Encounter, of course, but that was a long time ago, under a different CEO. :P

The speed is always the same It's the hidden fans that they turn up to put more emphasis on the going fast illusion (even tho your only going about 30mph)

Disney and the Halloween theme park game is like the 260lb Hells Angel who mostly sits out the bar fight, but you know if he did jump in he'd wreck everyone and it would be awesome

Well, WDW cant do Ghost Galaxy. The Disney land cars have oncar audio. In Disney world the audio comes from speakers on support beams.

I think the popular idea is that it was too scary and kids got scared and parents complained despite the several warnings telling it’s too scary
