This was actually my first time on space mountain at all. I loved it and made me explore other Disney coasters at Land and World. I would ride it in a heartbeat again.
I remember riding the Ghost Galaxy back when it first opened up with my dad and sister. Best experience I had at Disneyland Halloween time. I would definitely love for it to return.
I've also heard from a few cast members that Ghost Galaxy hasnt returned because it required load/dispatch times to be a few seconds quicker than normal operation, leading to more cascades and downtimes
I remember being terrified of Ghost Galaxy when I was a little kid until I conquered my fear years later. after that, it became a Halloween favorite of mine. I wish they would bring it back again someday. :(
I kinda wish they had it back every year. Hardly any rides get Halloween overlays and I remember how cool ghost Galaxy was during Halloween time. Even if they toned down the extremely mild jumpscares and the screeching then fine but at least have the ghost fly around and chase you.
Man I really hope this comes back someday. It was cool to enjoy something other than Haunted Mansion Holiday for Disneylands “Halloween Time”. Especially for those who couldn’t make it to the Disneyland Halloween party event.
I am literally about to cry. I freaking loved that overlay. Even though I was scared of it as a kid, I was so excited to return to New Zealand this October to ride on it, now I’m just wondering that it’s gonna be closed!!??
I absolutely loved this overlay. And yes, it did scare the bejesus out of the little kids. That definitely was a factor on its not coming back. Plus, with the Halloween party moving to DCA in 2019 that probably another factor. Halloween 2019 saw an extended run of Hyperspace Mountain which included Halloween time. At this rate, I doubt we’ll ever see Ghost Galaxy return.
I actually went on Hong Kong's ghost galaxy(was actually my first ever space mountain) but my eyes were shut the entire time. Would like to experience it again
I still believe that the scary factor isn't really why it has not returned. I think there is a far bigger reason than that. Those signs were there clear as day, you even have the signs further into the attraction's queue. Plus, it was not that scary, more of PG horror, but that's about it. Nothing like The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter that had actual horror in it, such as the worker being eaten and "Blood," actually water, would rain down on people in the darkness. I hope this comes back.
It's so funny to me how I hear the same reason why Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy went away was because it was too scary and how Disney was some how shocked by this kind of guest reaction. Like what was Disney's expectation in the "Blue Sky" process of creating Ghost Galaxy; was Disney like "We should build a scary Halloween overlay for Space Mountain that lasts from early August to early November to thrill our guests and boost Space Mountain's attendance record up," to all of the sudden have parents complaining that Disney scared to many of the younger demographic guests. What makes this decision so laughable for me is Disney's befuddled reaction that they excelled at scaring and thrilling guests when that was literally the whole point of why they made the decision to do it. 🤣On the other hand the sheer level of stupidity and incompetence that GP Disney guests have been gaining over the past 15 years will never cease to amaze me. Like in what person's right mind would they think that taking a kid on Space Mountain with a horror theme on it for their first time would be a good idea and why is it that parents always blame their decisions on Disney like as if it was the Disney CM's who forced their child on the ride and not to mention that if a CM sees a kid start to cry or freakout before they board the rocket they'll tell the child and the parent they don't have to ride if they don't want to. Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy IMO absolutely needs to COMEBACK in 2024 it's honestly besides the Haunted Mansion Holiday one of the best overlays Disney has ever created! It would be cool to see what kind of projection mapping effects they could do especially since they added new projectors that give the mountain a cool lighting texture pack at night! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Disney if you are reading this PLEASE BRING BACK SPACE MOUNTAI GHOST GALAXY for 2024!!!
i remeber when i was young i went on ghost galazy when i was little and i was crying after but after years gone by i went on it again and honestly it was really fun better than regular space mountain for sure.
fantastic video! its a shame other Disney attractions didnt get Halloween overlays, how cool would it be if there was a Big Thunder Mountain Halloween overlay?
What would it be tho??? Maybe like “the curse of big thunder mountain??” Have some creepy sound track and maybe some ghosts or monsters flying around in the cave?? Some cool projections on the mountain??
Honestly, nothing tops the normal Space Mountain but Ghost Galaxy did offer a frightening twist. I often went with my family to Disneyland during the Halloween season, including from 2005-2008, which meant normal Space Mountain was done during the Halloween season. We also went during October 2009, the first time Ghost Galaxy ran, and it definitely was scary the first time I rode it (I was 9 at the time). While I was able to get over it quickly, it certainly didn't resonate as well as the regular Space Mountain with my family. I also got to ride Ghost Galaxy in 2012 and 2016. I did like Hyperspace Mountain as well during the Star Wars seasons, but the regular is the best. I realize the seasonal overlays of some of these Disneyland attractions are popular, but the regular versions truly cannot be topped. I'm also referring to the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay for Haunted Mansion. My family has often griped that Haunted Mansion should only do Nightmare Before Christmas during the Christmas season since Haunted Mansion is Halloween themed by itself. Here's my thought: Haunted Mansion only does Nightmare Before Christmas during the Christmas season, but Space Mountain does Ghost Galaxy for Halloween to compensate. Alternatively, Haunted Mansion can do Nightmare Before Christmas during both Halloween and Christmas, but every OTHER year. Then, Space Mountain could do the same with Ghost Galaxy during the years Haunted Mansion isn't doing Nightmare Before Christmas.
YES!!! They must BRING IT BACK!!!! If we have Star Wars Rise Of The Resistance and people are complaining about First Order doing their job, then how is Ghost Galaxy any worse? Parents must read the signs, and see that it's not good for kids under the age of 8 who don't like scary movies.
Well, I'd hate to say this, but no, and it's not gonna a short answer, because ghosts don't belong in a Sci-fi themed attraction like Space Mountain, instead, they're better off staying at the Haunted Mansion, so honestly, if they did bring back an attraction like this at Disneyland, instead of ghosts, they should put in aliens instead, because aliens make sure sense for a sci-fi themed attraction, like maybe have a bunch of evil aliens in UFO's trying to kill people in the ride by firing lasers, blowing them up or even trying to vaporize them and have the interior of the queue of ride to look like Area-51, with cast members dressed up as Men In Black, escorting you to the ride, and the storyline being an experiment for a portal to a galaxy where real live aliens have been discovered, and the voice over the intercom featured the evil alien overlord taunting the guests and boasting about his plan for him and his evil alien empire trying to take over the world, that is until you escape and the men in black congratulating you on saving the earth, but as you exist, some scareactors dressed as aliens that survived and became stowaways on your ride, are trying to enact their masters evil plan of conquering the world, implying that the aliens are still out there and it's not over, and the projection would feature UFOs flying over Space Mountain, and the soundtrack would feature alien music and sounds, and a whole lot of bright, vibrant green lights and blacklight done in a way you're transitioning from an Area-51 type facility to an alien space port, that's what they should do to Space Mountain because aliens make more sense and all aliens are creepy when you think about it, non-human creatures from another planet visiting earth, that's actually pretty spooky, so that's what they should do with Space Mountain if they do another attraction like this for Halloween.
@@MROB-6720M you're right,I am a nerd,so that's why think they should replace Ghost Galaxy with a space alien themed overlay, with aliens flying around in UFOs,trying to kill people as an plot trying to take over the world,so yeah,I am a nerd.
