I’m buying a car in early 2021 that’s hard to get financing for through my credit union bc of there perceived value through NADA VS their actual market value and what they sell for. My FICO score is 750+ and my DTI ratio will be at 33% when applying and have excellent payment history and credit mix but I’ve heard stories of people with good credit factors getting denied. Even though reviews of people being denied does not tell the whole story it still leaves me wondering if I should try and use them or work something out with my credit union. I just don’t want the hard pull just to get denied. I have a blemish of a missed $15 credit card payment in 2017 because of a mix up and the bill never being sent. Other than that my credit is really solid. Any advise or insight you can offer?
I’d talk to more than one local credit union about the car. Lightstream is nice because they don’t care about the year of car or the value. Have you tried them yet?

Deprecation is not a factor with these cars

LightStream didn’t finance me for $40,000 I have a 758 credit score. I have a house mortgage so they said I had a “high income to debt ratio.” My wife has a 775 credit score and she has no debt. They said her “Length of time accounts have been established.” Meaning her oldest account wasn’t old enough. It’s better to not drop your credit some points in the hopes of getting your dream car. But isn't it true that when you pay more on the loan itself it does not go to the principal, it goes straight to interest? Not like a house payment, or a credit card that you can apply straight to principal.....Is this true????
No it’s not true. Some loans will hold the extra payments in a separate fund, but most give you the option to choose where you want the extra money allocated

the underwriters are not very bright. I am deployed and trying to get a renovation loan to make my house i just bought livable before I get home. I am in the middle east and not home in the US and I told them that I have not turned utilities on since I am not there, but I want to get the loan so I can get my contractor to work on the house. The idiots proceed to ask for a utility bill and deny me because I can't prove I live there....I sent them my title proving ownership. I currently don't have a home to go back to until that house is fixed up. I am pissed I wasted a credit pull on them.
Beware. I was taken tk the cleaners by a group if people purporting to be Lightstream. I ended up paying for Walmart gift cards in order to effect a loan from this company, assuring me my credit core would be raised 200 points. Yeah right. I ended up having to file a report because I realized too late it was a scam. If you are asked to by gift cards from Walmart, hang up. R.u.n.

You’d still have fixed payments, but if you paid down 3k , the loan will end much sooner
