I worked for a big personal loan company last summer and the majority of their loans were people in credit card debt. With their formula you also got lower rates if you selected Debt Consolidation too.
I paid a personal loan with SOFI in 3 months (6,000 to pay in 36 months), however I applied for a 9,000 loan after and I got denied (my credit score is 721 experian), I believe I was punished for paying earlier :(

Amex and SoFi were soft pulls and lightstream was a hard pull. Wells is probably a hard pull, but at least check the others out first. Wells rates might not be as good
I actually used American express personal loan the other day for buying a car. I took the 36 month term, great credit score... I plan to pay every week... my plan will pay off a 1 year old car in less than 2 years.

SoFi it got to be a magnet for lenders because SoFi decline me with 821 of credit score and i never but never pay late with 4 credit cards in zero balances the only thing that i own is 12 months of a lease car so what they do they refer me to a list of lenders , so is soFi is a magnet to bring customer ? i got 821 of credit score 4 credit cards with zero balances and only own 3,500 dollars on a car lease do they want better score?

I shopped all the lenders you mentioned and then some for a personal CC Debt Consolidation loan. Lightstream for sure had the best rates and terms for me. I applied on Friday and was approved Monday Afternoon with my funds in my bank account Wednesday. It was an easy process everything was done online. Your are correct loans between 10-25K get the better rates. Plan on paying it off ASAP now that I have a reasonable rate not a 23-26% CC interest rate. They’ll never be 0%, but your scores should help you qualify for the best rates. Other factors affect the rate too, but your credit scores will be significant

Two people can be on one card (they’ll send two card under one account). And yes 0% intro is basically a free loan, but you’ve gotta pay it off before the interest starts or you’ll pay a lot in interest
Hey. I'm thinking about a personal loan because family and friends dont want to/cant help me. I work in construction and the nature of that beast is layoffs, short projects, or injuries. Now, I have never had any kind of loan or credit card, so rule out debt from that equation. I have no credit to speak of, well, maybe a medium level 600's. Do what ya gotta do, but pay off the loan ASAP. Personal loan rates are too expensive if you have bad or no credit. You can always apply and see what’s happens though
With American Express I'm assuming you have to be a card holder for a while. I recently applied for a Gold Card just to try the personal loan but it said I dont have enough credit history.

I regret asking for the personal loan from Lightstream ,it came as a hard inquiry with name Suntrust bank Dba Li. Am so angry that they could do that. I think 100k is still unsecure. Everybody will hit you w an inquiry when you apply. It’s not a big deal and your credit will just go back up in a month

If you have high revolving debt (credit cards), does it make sense to get a personal loan to pay of other debt (like student loans) so that you can have more money every month to pay off the credit cards?
No because the rates on your student loans are lower than any personal loan. You could pay off credit card debt if the rate is better, but you have to change your spending habits too. Otherwise you’ll end up in a worse position

That wouldn’t qualify . If you really want to invest w borrowed money, open up a margin account w the brokerage. It’s not safe, but if you’re willing to take the risk, then go for it

This is a great video. I was in debt and I chose to consolidate by debt but it put me more into debt. The best resolution from my experience is to budget your money and pay of your credit cards.

good info. unfortunately sofi denied my personal loan. my score is over 700 and only owe 2k in credit card with zero interest. just want to borrow to pay off 3 personal loan which is very high interest with 20k balance total. i can pay it monthly, making 70k/yr. just want to know solution to get lower rate. personal loan was like 27% interest, i know what you guy thinking. but i was young and dumb. advise are welcome.

They don’t have pre payment penalties, so there shouldn’t be a fee (that I’m aware of)

Big auto repair shops usually offer financing that’s cheaper than a personal loan. I’d look into that first

Two people can be on one card (they’ll send two card under one account). And yes 0% intro is basically a free loan, but you’ve gotta pay it off before the interest starts or you’ll pay a lot in interest

With American Express I'm assuming you have to be a card holder for a while. I recently applied for a Gold Card just to try the personal loan but it said I dont have enough credit history.

Man, it's impossible for me to get a loan anywhere. My credit score is above 750 but I'm an independent worker. I tried your two options (I don't have an AE card) plus Marcus and lending tree. Where else can I go to get a loan where the chances of getting approved are higher? I don't care about the fees and stuff like interest.

No because the rates on your student loans are lower than any personal loan. You could pay off credit card debt if the rate is better, but you have to change your spending habits too. Otherwise you’ll end up in a worse position
